Autumn at its BEST in my Area of the Country

Around our home
Dear Friends,   I am desperate for some Autumn Color.  SO----today  I will jump back into the archives and show you some beautiful Fall Colors in our area.  As I've said in previous posts,  our area of the country has been in a horrible drought recently --and that,  along with an extremely hot September,  "did a number" on our leaves this Fall... Most of the leaves just died on the trees --and are now falling.   IF we get any color at all this year --I'm sure it will be sometime in November (instead of our usual October colors).

SO---today I will share with you some beauty from past years.....  Sit back,  get a cuppa,  and relax and enjoy!!!!

Love the colors in this tree near our home

Along one of the back roads in the Catoosa area near Fairfield Glade

Looking across one of the many lakes in Fairfield Glade

One of the gorgeous Maples ---in the Catoosa area, near Fairfield Glade

Glorious 'carpet' in the Great Smoky Mountains

Along the Foothills Parkway, near Townsend, TN in the Smokies

After a hike to Look Rock (off of the Foothills Parkway in the Smokies),  I was checking out the valley below from the Look Rock tower..

Also from Look Rock,  I love this picture of the Foothills Parkway below --and the Smoky Mountains in the distance!!!

The Great Smoky Mountains,  near Newfound Gap

From Newfound Gap in the Smokies,  showing the fog in the valley below

Along the Blue Ridge Parkway

From the Blue Ridge Parkway

So much beauty along the Cherohala Skyway

A favorite picture from the Cherohala Skyway showing the Sunbeams peaking through

More beautiful Fall colors from our area of the country
Hope you enjoyed see AUTUMN in our area ---as it usually looks. I am so glad I have lots of beautiful colored pictures in my Archives to share this year....  We may still take a trip to the Smoky Mountains soon just to see if they do have any color much there this year... But--I'm spoiled by the colors which we usually have around here.  I'll keep you posted.

Have an awesome week.   It's hard to believe that November will be here very soon!!!

Hugs,

Hello, It is a shame about the drought, we have been dry here too. Your photos of the fall colors and trees are gorgeous. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy new week!

Very pretty. The colors are the best part of autumn. My favorite is the one with the lake.

Hi Ann, Yes--the colors of Autumn are my fav's too. That lake is near our home --and usually always has pretty colors in the Fall. So far this year, not much!!!!!! BUT--maybe we'll get some color in November.... A girl can hope. By the way, I loved your latest cake.

Hugs,
Betsy

You did a great job show-casing the beautiful autumn colors we've enjoyed in the past. Hopefully we will find some more this year.

beautiful!

Sorry to hear about your drought but I sure did love the old pictures you and George took when there was a lot of color in the Smoky Mountains. We celebrated our 50th Anniversary last year in the Smoky Mountains. It was around the 10th of October and we were surprised how warm the weather was at that time. We had expected it to be a little cooler. We have stayed in Townsend and been on Skyline Drive too. A beautiful place to go. Have a great week!

Thank You, Honey.... I MISS our Autumn here SO much this year. Thank Goodness we have memories through our pictures.

So beautiful. I'm sorry that you are missing the beautiful colors this year. Most of our leaves are gone already and we've already have several snows although it hasn't stayed around. I'm glad that you have past years photos to look back on and remember how beautiful it once was and will be again.
Blessings,
Betsy

Betsy, Great photos but you're right...very limited color this fall although we did see a bit more along the Parkway this past week. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

You are lucky to have some amazing pictures of what color should be to look back on. I have been here in Arkansas 15 years and only saw one good year. The rest of the time I try to remember that brown and pale yellow are colors. May we both be surprised this year.

I think the first one of the tree near your house is my favorite. Followed closely by the fog one, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Good to see a post from you, and a gorgeous one at that!

Wow - those colours are fabulous!

Thanks Betsy... I had read about your snows on your blog posts... CRAZY for all of us. Now--they have those high winds and wildfires in CA.... Geeeee...

I am glad I have all of these gorgeous photos from the past to share.

How are you feeling?

Hi There, They showed a few colors last night on the news --from the Smokies. SO--maybe we'll get a little color this year, even if they show up in November!!!!

Betsy

The only times we have been in Arkansas in the late Fall were AFTER all of the leaves were gone....When I lived in Texas, we went up there a year or two in late Fall---and for us (TEXANS) ---even the leaves on the ground were pretty... ha

Are you watching the World Series???? My Astros are ahead now ---but the Nats are GOOD... SO--we'll see.... I think most of the country (except for those 'fans for life' for the Astros like me) want the Nationals to win... I would too if they were playing any other team except the Astros. BUT--if the Nats win --even I won't be that upset... I'm just glad we beat the Yankees (since I cannot stand that team)... ha

My first thought when I saw the pictures was "blazing". Such blazing colors!! Beautiful scenes. We were up that way last Fall but the leaves were just beginning to turn. Hope you're having a good week so far, Betsy!

So sad about your drought! However, the color of previous years was spectacular. Our fall was short and sweet - we already have snow and bare branches. I LOVE your Header!

Betsy Banks Adams said...

Hi Barb, I was reading today about your latest snow (of several already).... Is this typical ---or more than you usual get in October? Our drought is getting better... At least we got about 2 inches of rain last weekend. That is a START... But--the trees really suffered.... SAD.

Hugs,
Betsy
