Christmas at Our Home, Part I ---- A Special Tradition

Welcome to our Home at Christmas  (one of my favorite ornaments)
Dear Friends,  It's hard to believe that it is December and that Christmas will be here before we know it..... Time Flies When We are having FUN,  doesn't it??????   (not sure all of this hustle and bustle is always fun though... ha).....

Anyhow,  since I will only have 3 blog posts between now and Christmas Day,  I want to take those three posts and share more about  our Christmases.  If you have been following my blog for years,  then you  may already know a lot about Christmas at our Home....  Many of you know how much I LOVE Christmas... I love to decorate the 'old-fashioned' way using multi-colored lights,   the regular Christmas colors of greens and reds--and doing things inexpensively!!!!!   My home is definitely not a fancy one by a long shot when looking at others' homes at Christmastime.   BUT--it's OURS and we love it....

One non-expensive tradition which I love and which George and I started in 2001 when we got married is to exchange cute and sometimes crazy ornaments each Christmas.   I love unwrapping all of these 'memories' each year as I put them on our tree....   I've shared some of the ornaments through the years on blog posts, but since I'm never sure what I've shown before and what I haven't,   I just chose a bunch to share today with you.   Hope you enjoy seeing one of our special Christmas Traditions!!!!

All we need at Christmas is each other!

One of my MANY Bird Ornaments

Another pretty birdie --but I think he may be a 'tad' too big to get inside that birdhouse!!!!! ha

My all-time favorite bird,  the Eastern Bluebird;   I ordered this one from Etsy --and absolutely LOVE it.

That little Cardinal is sitting in his nest in our tree!!!!

Ah---how sweet;  George and I are lovers forever!

This was one of our FIRST ornaments --from 2001... AH---it's all about MEMORIES.

A cute little Bluebird house sitting in our Christmas Tree

These 3 ornaments show some of our many trips we took in 2014.

As you know,  we grow ROSES --along with many other beautiful flowers in our yard.... We try to keep something blooming most of the year  (except Winter).

Both George and I LOVE Music....  Right now we have been listening to Christmas music  in the house,  while working in the yard,  and while we are in the car!!!!!  LOVE it!

We collect ornaments from many of our travels...  This is a neat little ornament from Mt. Rushmore.

HA HA HA ---Here's a FUNNY ONE which needs no explanation......Glad she admitted it though  so that Santa would know that all she deserved was a 'bag of coal'..... ha ha

A cup of Hot Chocolate is warming --but not as warming to my heart as George is!!!!

Another Cute One I got for George one year,  showing Santa and his LONG list....  (Seems as if I always have a "honey do"  list going for George.... ha ha )

Another one I got for George in about 2001;   I call this little fishie   my little 'kissie' ornament --since I love George's kisses so much!!!!!!
WELL----I could go on and on and on --but this is plenty for  one post!!!!!!  You can see how much fun we have exchanging ornaments every Christmas morning.    We experience such joy --and so many memories through the years!!!!!!

I hope you will share some of your special Christmas memories this month.....

Have a great week ---and always remember that none of us bloggers really know what our blog friends are going through in their lives and families... We need to be patient with each other --when some of us do not have time to comment on others' posts as much as we wish we could....I have experienced this 'need for patience' first hand this past year.   George and I just hope and pray that 2018 is a better year for us and our families....

Hugs,

Christmas Morning at our Home --2013

Hello Blog Friends.  Hope all of you had a fantastic Christmas and New Year's Celebration.  George and I certainly did!!!!   I've missed you --and will try to begin catching back up soon.  However,  I am up to my ears this month in my Family History research.  SO--my catching up will be slow!  Please be patient with me.  Today I will share with you some collages from Christmas Morning at our home... Be sure to click on them for enlargements.   Sit back and enjoy!!!!!

Well---you can tell that both George and I had a fantastic Christmas this year.  We must have been good little boys and girls since Santa was so good to us.  Glad he didn't put any coal in my stocking!!!!!!  I work SO hard at being GOOD....ha ha....

This year I surprised George with a new lens for his camera.  He has been looking at this lens for a long time--but had never bought it.  SO---I surprised him with it.   He definitely surprised me with the beautiful  wrapped canvases and other framed photos... AND--another fav of mine was the little Willow Angel.   I had never seen this one,  and it was PERFECT for me since her name is Sunshine and she is holding a bowl of Sunflower blooms (shown in 3rd collage from top).

We still enjoy our ornaments --and have a tree full of memories!  One of the cutest ornaments George got was a little camera ornament (4th collage) given to him by son Jeff and daughter-in-law Dawn.  One (of many) favorite ornaments I received was an ornament of one of our beautiful roses,  Wildfire (3rd collage).

Hope you enjoyed seeing some of our Christmas photos....  Hope you have a wonderful day!  I put all new quotes on my Sidebar---so take time to check it out.

AND--since much of the country is experiencing FRIGID temperatures,  please make sure that you stay warm and toasty.  We have snow and some extremely cold temperatures today.  Stay INSIDE as much as possible...

Christmas at our Home--Part II

As I said on Monday,  this will be my last week of blogging in 2013 since I will take two weeks off to celebrate the Birth of Christ.   SO--this week I am sharing some of our Christmas with you... On Monday,  I shared our special ornaments... Today,  I'll share with you some of the little angels in my ANGEL COLLECTION.   I have lots and lots --so will just pick out some favorites to share today.

I've been collecting angels for many years... My parents actually gave me this adorable little angel (pictured above) many many years ago (in the 1940's ).  Isn't she angelic?????  Looked just like me --don't you think??????  WELL---if you think that my parents thought that I was so angelic,  look at the picture below of the BACK of that sweet little angel!!!!!

Can you see the SLINGSHOT in the back of her dress or robe?????  WELL---that would be ME I'm sure ---or at least,  what my parents thought I was.... I wasn't just an angel with 'horns' --but was an angel with a slingshot in my pocket....  ha ha ha   (My hubby will say that Mom and Dad knew me well....)

This little lady with the Marilyn Monroe look was my Tree Topper in 1962 when we had our first Christmas tree after our marriage.... That year I remember that we had all blue lights,  new ornaments and then sprayed that old nasty snow all over the tree!!!  (It was the 'thing to do' back then I guess.... ha)

This little dolly is one of my favorites... I bought her sometime in the 1980's --and she has been with me ever since.  Isn't she adorable?

Here are two fav's...  The one on the left is my Texas Angel ---which I got when I lived in Texas for 12 years.. The one on the right is one I saw somewhere --and just 'had' to have it --since I am definitely an Angel Collector.

This angel has always been a favorite since she is made from a MOP..... Bet you don't have a "Mop Angel"..... ha

I love this angel,  which I named Carole ---after my friend, Carole, who made her.  Isn't she pretty?   The two little angels beside Carole are two of my Glass Angels.

You know how much we love ROSES.... Well----do you have a "Rose Angel"  like I do????  Isn't she pretty?????

This is one of my newer angels,  my Fall Angel,  given to me by a special friend in Virginia.  I love the leaves used as angel wings.

Well--since I have an angel made from a mop and an angel made from a Rose Bud,  then you know I MUST have an angel made from what else---  a WASHCLOTH.   To her right is another photo of the little Rose Angel.  On the left is my Cleaning Angel.  Wish she'd wake up and clean my house for me!!!!! ha

Here is my newest angel,  my  Willow Angel Ornament,  given to me by my husband last Christmas.  She looks awesome on our tree.

Finally,  here is my all-time favorite Angel Collection, my Willow Angels... I now have 13 of them --counting the one hanging on our tree.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Willows...

**********************************
NOW--I am going to end today by changing the subject and showing you a collage I did last year showing some of my wonderful BIRD ORNAMENTS.  I didn't get these posted on Monday---and since the birds are so important to me,  I wanted to share them with you today.

Hope you have enjoyed seeing many of the reasons I love Christmas so much.  I'll have one more blog post on Friday sharing our Christmas with you...

Check out my Photo Blog (click HERE) for another photo showing my love of the lights and colors of Christmas here at home!  And come back here on Friday for one more Christmas Post!!!!!
