Two New Waterfalls for George and me!!!

US at 30 foot Reedy Branch Falls,  South Carolina,  5/18/14
On  May 18, 2014,  on our way to Ocean Isle Beach  (check THIS post),  we stopped along the way to visit some waterfalls.  This year,  we stopped at 3 different places (once we got into South Carolina on Highway 76).  One was BULL SLUICE (which we have seen before) ---but the other two places were NEW waterfalls to us...

Today,  I'll share some photos of these two new waterfalls.  Hope you enjoy them.  Since I was getting over my surgery,  I still didn't have alot of energy.  SO--George picked waterfalls with almost no hiking needed...  That was perfect for me on this trip.

The first waterfall we saw was named REEDY BRANCH FALLS.  This 30 foot waterfall was gorgeous ---and we were the only people there.   SO--we just relaxed and enjoyed  ourselves for a little while,  thinking that the waterfall was there JUST for us!!!!

REEDY BRANCH FALLS -30 feet (South Carolina, 5/18/14)

Oh how she loves this man!!!!!!

Can you tell that we were having fun at Reedy Branch Falls????

Mrs. P (our wonderful Prius) enjoyed seeing the waterfall  too!!!!
The second NEW waterfall we saw that day (also on Highway 76 near Westminster, South Carolina) was in a fabulous county park,  CHAU-RAM County Park.  We were SO impressed with this gorgeous park (named for the Chauga River and Ramsey Creek).  We drove straight up to  RAMSEY CREEK FALLS (40 foot cascade) in this park...  It was just so beautiful!!!!!  And---again,  we had the waterfall and area  ALL to ourselves, due to the rain/drizzle!

I got to explore the area a little,  so I caught this photo of the Photographer at work with his tripod!!

Gorgeous  MOUNTAIN LAUREL in the park

The gorgeous tiny blooms of the Mountain Laurel;   Aren't they beautiful?

Two silly people having fun at Ramsey Creek Falls!!!  That guy makes me laugh!!!!

RAMSEY CREEK FALLS,  40 foot cascade;  (South Carolina, 5/18/14)

US  at RAMSEY CREEK FALLS,  South Carolina
I hope you enjoyed seeing our two new waterfalls!!!   I'm not sure what our total is now --since we sorta lost count.   BUT---we are probably up to 600+ different waterfalls seen since 2001....  Can you tell that these two lovebirds LOVE waterfalls????? ha

If you want to see more about the Chau-Ram County Park,  click HERE.  We highly recommend the two new waterfalls,  plus this park (there is picnicking, camping, lots of hiking, and even a big swinging bridge to see).  SO---we need to go back when we have more time to explore this park..

Here's some GOOD NEWS from me:  Went to see my surgeon yesterday for my 'follow-up' to surgery visit (been 3 weeks since my surgery).   My doctor checked me out --and DISMISSED me,  saying that everything is fine and that I am healed....  Yeah Rah!!!!!

Have a great weekend and I will see you on Monday!

Hugs,

What a guy your George is!! I cannot believe there are any waterfalls left for you this close, much less ones that don't need hiking!!! So have you seen every single waterfall within 200 miles? I am so glad you are all better!! It was the rare but effective waterfall cure.

HI Betsy I am so glad you are healed now after your surgery. Both of you look very well and happy and who wouldn't be with finding all those beautiful waterfalls. I also love the Laurel blossom. Have a wonderful weekend.

So, now your list of falls visited must be shorter than your list of falls NOT visited?

Wow, you found some that you hadn't seen yet?...lol How sweet of George to find two that didn't require hiking. He's a keeper :)They sure are pretty

I love your drizzly day photos because I love drizzly days! The last waterfall looks like a delightful place to linger in, have a picnic and listen to the falling water.
I am guessing that y'all have a waterfall locator of some sort? Have a great weekend.

Best,
Bonnie

I am so happy you got to see some waterfalls on your way to the ocean. But then again when have you two ever driven anywhere without stopping at at least one waterfall. So nice to see you two lovebirds all alone at a waterfall. Have a great weekend.

Just like birds, some are a hike while others are easy. I wondered if there were waterfalls that were easy access:)

You two look great! As do those beautiful falls. Sunny weather would have been good, but drizzle is sometimes beautiful, too, especially if it means you have the place to yourselves!

So good to hear you are healing so perfectly. I love your new waterfalls. Isn't the Mountain Laurel beautiful. On of my favorite plants. such a pretty flower.
Isn't if fun just to be silly. Bob and I wonder sometimes if anyone else can be as silly and happy as us-----well you two are. YAY!!! MB

The only time it is great to be dismissed is when it is your doctor doing it. Congrats big time on getting the all clear.
How sweet of George to pick falls that you didn't have to hike to.
You've got a real winner there and you have to be the cutest couple on the Internet.

Happy to read that you got a great report from the surgeon.
My dad's name was John Ramsey Williams....Ramsey was his mom's maiden name and he went by Ramsey. These are lovely falls.
Have a good weekend.

Outstanding header photo!!!! Do you and George ever take a dip near any of these marvelous water falls? I don't think I would be able to resist!! I find that waterfalls bring me so much peace!! The sounds just speaks to my soul...
Have a fabulous weekend..

Hello Betsy, i am surprised there are still waterfalls in the US mainland that you still haven't seen till now, haha! And now you made me envious again, as i can't just go somewhere to see waterfalls. Here we still have to fly or take a long bus ride, and some tiring hike too if i need to see waterfalls i haven't yet seen. How wonderful to have lives like the two of you, just eat, garden, travel and have fun. That's a life i really want to have too!

And i love your new header!

Betsy, great to see you and George out enjoying life and smiling! Beautiful photography. Well done! I have been to Reedy Cove Falls and Chau Ram Falls, but not Ramsey falls. Y'all hit the mountain laurel at peak bloom it looks like!

Congrats on the post-op news from your doctor!
Such a beautiful waterfall (and photos of it). I guess because you guys don't need perfect weather to sight-see, you don't have to battle any crowds.

Amazing pictures! My fiancee and I live in Florida, but we visit the Upcountry often because that's where my parents' live. The second time I took my fiancee up there, before we were engaged, we visited Reedy Branch Falls (12/21/12) and we said "I love you"s for the very first time. That is our special waterfall. We were both so thrilled and joyful to see such a happy couple such as yourselves having fun and looking very much in love in front of Reedy. Thank you for your wonderful post!

On a side note, we plan to get married in 2016 at Chau Ram Park, next to the waterfall there. Plus you visited both these falls just four days away from our anniversary on May 14!

Your photos and comments definitely added a positive, refreshing note to our day down here in Florida, and we thank you for that!

Hi Natalie and Jeff, Thanks for visiting my blog... It's wonderful to find other people who love waterfalls as much as we do... I had just had Gallbladder surgery ---so this was my first 'outing' after that.. Seeing these two waterfalls was PERFECT for me that day... You two have a great place to have a wedding... Congrats to you both.

There are so many gorgeous waterfalls in that area. Some of the others we have seen (off the top of my head) are Whitewater, Lower Whitewater, Brasstown, Spoonauger, King Creek, Licklog, Pigpen, Station Cove, and Isaqueena. All are in or near Oconee County I think. Here's another link for you to check out: Lower Whitewater in Autumn!!! http://betsyfromtennessee.blogspot.com/2009/10/autumn-at-lower-whitewater-falls-sc.html

Thanks again..
