2014 IRISES in our Yard --Part I

ORANGE HARVEST IRIS -5-7-14
As you know,  I had Gallbladder Surgery on May 8... Everything went fine until I started having a different kind of stomach pain... After a trip to the doctor on May 13,  I have been treated for some kind of infection (unsure what)...  SO--it's been an 'interesting' week.  My first day out of the house was Wednesday, May 14--when I was able to get my hair cut and run some errands!!!!   To tell you the truth,  I am looking for a much better week this next week....I'm not one to be SICK very often --so when I am,  I am not a good patient!!! (Poor George!!! ha)

I have enjoyed our flowers in the yard these past few weeks ---so today I'll share 10 of our TWENTY different blooming Iris varieties this year.  I'll show you Part II in another blog post. Be sure to click on  these beauties for enlargements.

CLARENCE IRIS (our first one this year) 4-27-14

LEMON REFLECTION IRIS 5-5-14

FLOOR SHOW IRIS 5-6-14

AUTUMN BUGLER IRIS 5-6-14

HONEY GLAZED IRIS 5-2-14

QUEEN DOROTHY IRIS 5-6-14

ENGLISH CHARM IRIS 5-5-14

BLATANT IRIS 5-9-14

WALTZ ACROSS TEXAS 5-6-14

I'll close with some 'group' Iris photos... I love them individually--but also love seeing them in groups...
HONEY GLAZED IRISES 5-4-14

ENGLISH CHARM IRISES 5-7-14

ORANGE HARVEST IRISES 5-9-14
Hope you enjoyed our Irises today...  I love all of our flowers --but the Irises are extra-special.... AND--the chipmunks and squirrels and the deer (most of the time) don't bother them... The hardest perennial that we try to grow here are Tulips ---since the chipmunks love to dig up the bulbs thinking they are nuts!!!  Oh Well!!!!

I am taking a week off from blogging to get back on my feet and get back to things I need (and want) to be doing!!!!!  I will see you again on May 26....   Have a wonderful week!!!

Hugs,

HI Betsy I am sorry you had a bit of a set back to your operation however you should be taking it a bit easier right now and get totally recovered. I am glad you are having a break from blogging although you will be missed but I hope you will take this time to rest a bit more!

Hah i just posted on the previous post cause I couldn't
find the comments. Silly me. Have a better week Betsy.
We are back in UK from Paris and are doing well. Buddy is struggling a bit with a knee but we have him on meds of infection.

The iris's are stunning Betsy and would bring you much joy whilst you are recuperating. I am sad to hear you've had this setback, but there's no stopping you Betsy - take you week off and have a true rest.

And as for iris, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the shades of purple.

Sorry to hear about the set back. You are in my prayers. Your Irises are so pretty; I can see why you enjoy them so much. My two favorites are Orange Harvest and Blatant. Have a good week off and get better.

I hope you are feeling better now, Betsy and continue to improve. Your irises are gorgeous! So many different kinds!

Beautiful iris! Tennesseeans love their irises. My mother manages to wedge quite a few varieties in her tiny condo garden. I have some pretty blue ones I brought here from home, but we don't have enough sun for them to do really well.

Hope you recover quickly. An infection is a nasty surprise. Get well!

George said...

You've captured our pretty iris beautifully in your pictures.

Andrea said...

Betsy, get well soonest. Is your gallbladder already removed? And, i love your irises more than George's roses, hahaha, don't tell him that unless he reads this! Take care. Oh you should see my GBBD at POGsite.

Dorothy said...

All your flowers are wonderful! Love the Blatant Iris! Hope you feel better soon!

LV said...

Betsy, so glad you are on the mend. I had to have gallbladder surgery, in fact the only surgery I have ever had, several years ago. I did very well and had no problems. Sometimes our bodies just get out of control. Trust you will be back to normal and healed soon. Rest and take care. One day I feel good and the next not too hot. I am okay tho.

So sorry for the setback, but hope you're feeling better and even more so before the weekend is over! Your flowers for the day are breathtaking!! Such exquisite colors!! Thanks, as always, for sharing the beauty, Betsy! Take good care of yourself!!

Betsy, Nice photos of the Iris... What we have growing the most of this year are weeds! Its like they spring up overnight. Living in the woods like we do has some advantages and...some disadvantages. Take Care and Heal! Big Daddy Dave

Hi Betsy, Lovely blooms and well worth the effort of selecting, planting, and nurturing them. Hoping you'll be feeling fantastic soon and have a better weekend and next week.

Beautiful Iris. And you took some dandy pictures. I hope that nasty infection clears up and you are hunky dory again.
Take the time off and I just know you will feel better. MB

Take your time to get back to 100%! I love your irises. I learned the hard way that i'm better off with irises than tulips - my bulbs were all eaten within the first year!

Angela said...

They are all so beautiful! I think my favorite is the Queen Dorothy.

I hate to hear that you got an infection after your surgery! Did they give you a probiotic to take? After my dad had his heart surgery he got an infection and they gave him a real strong probiotic. I asked the nurse if he should be taking something like that for a preventative and was told no and then he got it! I think if he was taking it before he wouldn't have gotten it at all.

I hope you get better!

Hugs,
Angela

Oh gosh, Betsy, I am so sorry! You must have gotten some kind of infection in the hospital, there are many there. I am so glad to see you, and that you are out of the house. Are you on anti-antibiotics? they should start making you feel better quickly! ALL the iris are gorgeous, my faves being Orange Harvest, Clarence, Autumn Bugler, Queen Dorothy, GOSH, I love them ALL!!! The iris are out here and I am snapping away! But unlike you, I have no idea what is what!

Peaches McGinty said...

Oh Betsy, I hope you start feeling better as soon as possible. Have they given you medicine for the infection? If so I hope the medicine starts to work immediately! have as much rest as you can and be patient!! (hehe, I'm not a good patient either!) The Iris' are beautiful and I adore their names too 'waltz across Texas' and 'Queen Dorothy Iris' are wonderful! we will be waiting for your return, take lots of care x x x

Betsy I'm enjoying your blog soooooo much! I've just moved back to Western NC after eighteen years. I lost my husband a few years ago, and it was hard to come back to where we spent so many happy years together hiking, taking photos, much like you and your husband. My Heavenly Father is helping me adjust to life here alone though, and I'm thankful for every beautiful Carolina day that greets me! I'm going now to sign up for your blog, and to follow you on FB. Blessings my friend!!
