Some MAY Pictures Taken in our Yard

Bleeding Heart ---see the two little hearts?????
As you know,  Spring got here LATE this year.  BUT--once May arrived,  everything blossomed....  New things are blooming each and every day.  SO--why not share another yard post with you?????  (AND---there will be more this month since I have taken so many many photos!!! ha)

SO--have another cup of coffee (or tea) and relax for a few minutes and enjoy seeing more photos from our yard.  We do work hard in it ---George especially---but when we get new blooms,  the hard work is all worthwhile...

Be sure to click on all of the photos to see the slideshow and see them larger.   The picture above is a new plant in the yard,  a Bleeding Heart... Marcia (from Maryland) sent it to me last year.   I sent her this photo and she was surprised that I had a couple of blooms already.  They usually don't bloom that first year --but mine is looking GREAT.   Check out Marcia's great blog at Birds-Blooms-and Books.

White Hosta ---White Feather
I love hostas and they do well in my yard... Above is one of my WHITE Hosta plants.  I think its name is White Feather --but am not sure.  It came in a collection.  Isn't it pretty?   (NOTE:   The green hostas seem to be heartier than the white ones ---and do better when co-habitating with the English Ivy and Periwinkle.  The white ones have struggled --and I've had to clear the area around them so that they hopefully can live.  I think the Ivy almost 'ate' them up.)

Pink Dogwood
I don't think I have shared a photo of our beautiful Pink Dogwood this year.   However,  it (along with the Redbuds) seem to struggle this year --mainly due to the weather I think.  We did have a few pretty blooms --which I will share with you above.

Pansies
Last Fall,  we planted about 72 Pansies around the yard to give us some color during the winter.  Once spring got here,  those Pansies (the ones that made it through the winter--which ended up being most of them this year) perked up and are blooming like crazy.   Here's one example!!!

Candytuft
I showed you our Phlox in my last yard post.  Now I'll show you another pretty little one,  our Candytuft. We also have it in the big rock flowerbed ---hoping that it will spread (along with the Phlox and the Dianthus).  Aren't they pretty?

Azalea
Once we got home from our trip to the beach,  we found the Irises,  Azaleas and Rhododendrons blooming.  Today I'll share some of our Azaleas --and will save the Irises and Rhododendrons for another post.

Azaleas come in different colors --and we have 3 different colored bushes in our backyard. You can also see the big Rhododendron in the background.

Azalea
Here is one of the purple (lavendar) Azaleas up close and personal.

Azalea
And this is one of the hot pink/reddish Azaleas.   I love this color,  don't you?

Our Back Yard/Deck
Finally,  here is one more photo of the Azaleas in our backyard.  I was standing out in the back yard looking toward our deck.  It's hard to see the Azalea colors from this angle ---but you get the idea...

Hope you have enjoyed more photos from our  little home in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee.    Now ----click HERE  to see a new photo on My Photo Blog.

Have a great day, and remember to say a prayer for all of the people who lost so much in the tornado in Oklahoma.
Hugs,

Betsy, your May photos and flowers are gorgeous. I love the azaleas and dogwoods. Lovely colors. Have a great day!

Betsy - I'm glad you are enjoying the bleeding heart. Remember that they do die back in the hot weather but will return every spring. They are a favorite for me. And for your readers I have more volunteers if anyone wants one.

By the way the hens and chicks are growing gangbusters this spring. I'll have to feature a photo of the box planter they are in some time soon.

Betsy: Beautiful! I love bleeding hearts. My favorite, though, is the pink dogwood. It's the state tree of Virginia and I especially love the pink. Dogwoods do not do well here and they are never pink! If it's o.k. with you, I'm going to try and copy it onto photo paper to frame for my desk.

Best,
Bonnie

Spring is late this year. Some of the irises have started blooming and a few lilacs have sprouted. Mostly the flowers I planted last weekend are what is blooming.

You must just look out your window or from your deck and just smile with pure pleasure. Wonderful job you two have done. Eye candy to behold.
I think all of our hearts are in Ok these days.

Love the pink azalea and the dogwood. All the flowering bushes look good against the panelling.

I love your Azaleas. I just can't seem to get them to grow here. They are so pretty.

It would be hard to be depressed at your place. :) The pink dogwood and the azaleas are favorites, but everything in your yard is beautiful.

Good Morning Betsy...
do you have a lot perennials? I know that the Azaleas and the hostas are, but not sure about some of your other flowers. I would most definitely need flowers that come back year after year. Your yard is so pretty and full of color.
enjoy your day...

All beautiful. Betsy. We have many of the same in our yards.I am so glad things are blooming now. I have several Hostas but had never seen a white one. Almost odd looking. Bleeding Heart is one of my favorites. I have a large one in a pot I put out by the front lawn at the corner of the walkway. In the ground I have one called Gold Heart. The leaves are golden colored and really show up. the flowers are the same. Thanks for the lovely tour. MB

Beautiful photos from the spring blossom, Betsy! Good to see bleeding heat bloom in your yard… that’s so pretty and I also liked the plain Pansies.

Betsy, everything looks so beautiful! Until bloggers posted photos of pink dogwood, I didn't even know it existed. Yep, I don't know much about nothing. Sad, huh?

Your yard is so colorful and pretty, Betsy! I love the reddish azaleas. The bleeding heart looks like it's off to a good start, too.

We found a little bleeding heart this year that had to have come up volunteer behind our building we rent out next door. I don't have a clue where it came from. It was quite a surprise when hubby was mowing and trimming and told me to come look at the new flower!

Lovely, lovely, lovely. I am thinking about trying to plant a bleeding heart. I love them. My grandmother always grew them. I'll have to see if the deer will leave them alone. I love pansies! I didn't plant any because I think it is going to get too warm. That is wishful thinking on my part!

So lovely Betsy!
I love the dogwood! I have white ones and they too struggled this year.
Your azalea's are lovely! I have them and like them when they are in bloom but past that not so much. :) I happen to have that same lavender color that I love.
A beautiful yard for the hard work you two do!

Thanks for sharing your flowers. The only thing better would be if I could take my own pictures in your yard.:)

You have a very lush yard. Also things grow there that would perish here so it is really nice to see them in bloom.

Of course my favorites will always be the pansies, but I also love the two beautiful pink shades of azaleas. And the steps with the flowers around it. You must sit out there a LOT, I know I would!

I just want to come and sit in your yard and praise God for all the variety HE gave us!!!! I won't bring my cats though because your birds would not appreciate that.
Poor Oklahoma. It reminded me of our city two years ago but theirs is exponentially worse. Just another reminder to thank HIM for plain ole normal days!!!

I have been sending up prayers for Oklahoma.
Your Azaleas are looking pretty this year. I was thinking of planting Phlox on our mound this year but I might just plant Candytuft it looks so pretty in your photo. Do you think it will do well in a shady area?

Such beauty and color found, as I scroll down your page. I was outside today taking pictures of our azalea and rhododendron bushes, as well as that of our neighbors. I haven't had a chance to upload the pictures to my computer .. perhaps tomorrow.

Your florals are gorgeous Betsy. I so love the re-birth every single year, as you know.

Our trip was to Cass, but the railroad was closed until Memorial weekend so we missed the train trip. Had so looked forward to it. Another day ... Angela was the other visit on our trip. We will catch her on the next meander ... so anxious to spend time with her.

It was such a delight to see spring a second time in full bloom & about 2 to 3 weeks behind us in the mts.

We love just piling into the car & taking off to roads unknown ...

Have a fabulous holiday ~
