Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

Linville Falls Hike, North Carolina

From Nov. 7-9,  George and I took a short trip to Asheville,  North Carolina.  First we traveled through the Smokies  (and saw fog and snow).  On the next day,  we made a wonderful trip to Grandfather Mountain (and about FROZE to death--even though we had fun)...  In order to see those three blog posts --if you missed them,  click HERE.

Today I will share the last post from that short trip.   We next took a hike to Linville Falls.  It was a nice hike --and not nearly as cold as it was on Grandfather Mountain.  We first hiked to Upper Linville Falls.  The picture above was one of us that a nice person volunteered to take.  We were at the overlook to Upper Linville Falls.

Here is a collage showing more from the Upper Linville Falls area.

This gal was certainly happy to be in this beautiful place!

Here's a good picture I took of George at Upper Linville Falls.

Here's a picture I took of the beautiful blue sky --while we hiked that day... (After all of the dreary, gloomy, cloudy, rainy, foggy skies we have had recently,  I yearn for some beautiful skies like that NOW... ha ha)

After another hike to Lower Linville Falls,  we got to an overlook where we stopped and took pictures of the waterfall and of the gorge.

The sun was beginning to go down --but it was still with us on the overlook to Lower Linville Falls.  We had to use our long lenses here since Lower Linville Falls was not very close.  (We did find that you can get closer --by going on another hike,  but since it was getting late, we decided to come back another time. )

Here are our pictures of Lower Linville Falls.  The picture on the left shows how far away this waterfall was from our overlook.  The other two were taken with the long lens.

Here's a picture George took of me at the last overlook.  I was happy to be there --and as you can tell,  much warmer than I was when we were at Grandfather Mtn... ha ha

Hope you enjoyed our pictures from Linville Falls, and from that November trip.

Have a wonderful day.  Please pray for the people who have been flooded in Tennessee and other states these past several days.  We have all had TONS and TONS of rain.  We are fine here on the mountain --but we did have freezing rain part of the time.  Luckily, we didn't have to get out in it.  This has been a crazy past few days!!!!

Hugs,

Good thing we're getting rain and not snow or we'd be buried. If you want to see a unique version of Bald River Falls, they showed it on the news last night - a raging torrent of water was coming over it.

My, but you have gotten fancy on us. You really made some great changes in your blog. I got so carried away with all your cartoons and captions, almost did not read your post. Shame on me. I am like the lady, I live my life and never think of my age. Stay warm.

Impressive long lens producing a great photo of the falls. You look really young in these photos. Have you been bathing in the waterfalls of youth?

Another lovely 'walk' with you Betsy!
Hope it begins warming up for you.
We were supposed to have freezing rain last night but the temps held up to just above freezing. Some flooding here too.
If I'm not going to have snow I'd just as soon Spring get here!!
Keep Warm!

I just love the mountains of North Carolina. Asheville is one of my favorite places, but I don't think I've ever been to Linville Falls. I'm glad you're safe from the floods. It's been so long that I've heard any news, I didn't even realize there was flooding. I will pray for the people that are affected.

Praying for everyone in Tennessee affected by the rain.
Just heard Newfound Gap Road is closed because of a land slide. By the looks of it that will be a major repair. So Sad.

Wonderful collages. Looks like a perfectly lovely place though that cold part I could pass on.
So sorry about all the bad weather we sent Tennessee. It always seems to get destructive after it leaves us. We got gobs of water right before it snowed yesterday which has really helped our drought conditions.

Ah, such a fun jaunt! Glad you had a good time.

It's been very soggy here in Knoxville. Over 6 inches of rain the past few days. Now they are calling for snow! Sure glad we're retired and don't have to go out in it, LOL.

Wonderful photos,Betsy! I've been hearing about all the rain and flooding folks have been having down there. Hope it ends soon.

Well, even though you two seem to have fun no matter what the weather is, I'm glad to see you had such a beautiful day for this hike. Great pictures of the falls and of both of you. Glad to hear the freezing rain didn't pose any serious problems for you.

I used to go by Linville falls quite a few times each year on my way to Avery county to watch ballgames when my kids were in school. That is a beautiful area.
We are supposed to get our first snow of the season tomorrow night. But before the snow we are supposed to get 3 more inches of rain, yuck !!
Hope you get a break from the rain and get some snow also.
Blessings
Marilyn

These were very cool pictures, Betsy. I love the way you have created the fun collages.

Someday you should select photos of the various falls that you have seen this year and let us pick our favorites. Which ones have been your favorites?

Andrea said...

You might have predicted my comment, as I am envious of your waterfalling again! I don't have companions this year so none for me maybe this time. That shadow of George attracted my attention, it looks like something unlike human, haha!

Betsy, Your pictures are as gorgeous as usual. I must skip over and see your husbands blog one of these days. I really want to. It amazes me all the hiking that you both do. How do you find time to get everything done at home.? It always looks so immaculate and pretty.
