Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

Spring has Sprung in the Glade

On Saturday (April 9),  I took another set of pictures of our yard.   If you missed the last sets taken on March 21 and 24, click HERE.  There are alot of differences in two weeks.  Today,  I'll show you more of our Spring blooms... Above is another picture of the side flowerbed.  We still have Daffodils blooming --but now we have lots of Tulips blooming also.  Below are more.

This is our roadside flower bed showing the white Tulips at one end and the red ones at the other end.  If you look back at the March picture of this bed,  you will be surprised at how much more growth there is now... We have roses growing,  lilies growing, daylilies growing, and irises growing in that bed...  Before long,  that bed will be totally beaming with color!!!!!

These are the gorgeous red Tulips at the other end of the roadside flower bed. Aren't they gorgeous???  I love seeing them with that beautiful blue Periwinkle around them.

I absolutely love Hosta.  It has taken me a few years to get our Hosta strong --but this year,  most of it is coming up very strong.  Above is just one picture of the Hosta which is scattered around the yard. It also looks pretty against the Periwinkle ground cover.

We have two Red Bud trees in our yard.   Above is an 'up close and personal' photo of some of the branches of our Red Bud.  It is so Gorgeous!!!!

Here is a picture of our Lamppost round bed... I showed it in my March post,  but I wanted to do it again --so you could see how the lilies are coming up in that bed.  They are going to be gorgeous!!!!  I also have said (and say again) that our Pansies (planted last fall) are the prettiest we have ever had--all over the yard.

I love this picture of our Phlox --surrounded  by Periwinkle and English Ivy.  We planted several things in this big rock bed several years ago,  trying to see what would spread the most.  The Phlox and CandyTuft have not spread nearly as much as the English Ivy and the Periwinkle.  We also have some which we call Pinks (not sure of the name) in that bed,  and they are spreading nicely --but haven't bloomed yet.

WELL--stay tuned.  As Spring evolves,  the yard will just continue to get prettier and prettier... Wish you could ALL stop by and see it in person.....

Have a great day... By the way,  I hung a couple of Hummingbird feeders on Saturday...  Hope the hummingbirds will stop by here.  Last year,  we didn't see any until about July I think....
Hugs,

Good Morning Lady,
Spring certainly has sprung and it is gorgeous! I use to have phlox and they are so pretty. All of your flowers are lovely!

Particularly the most stunning is the green dress the grass wears this day...reminds me of the color spring green in the box of crayons when you bought the big box :)
Happy day,my friend!

Absolutely stunning! No matter what's going on, I would not be able to look out on all those flowers and not smile and feel joy.
You and George are very blessed and obviously diligent in your care and upkeep not to mention the initial work.
There was a home in Cinci that I passed on the way to work every morning. Their yard was always full of flowers neatly done in lots of beds bordering the inner and outer fence, the driveway, trees, etc. It was an instant mood lifter to see those beautiful flowers each morning. Folks must feel that way when they pass your home. Such a gift you're giving them!

Your beautiful garden is coming on a treat. I can't imagine how much work must be involved in planting all those blooms.

Well spring has really showed up at your place in style! My spring flowers are almost gone. The dogwood blooms were absolutely beautiful this year and are already dropping off. Spring was short this year and we are already getting heat and humidity. The good thing is I saw my first hummingbird Friday! It flew right up to my livingroom window and hovered like it was telling me to get busy and hang the feeders. LOL

Your spring is looking fantastic Betsy! How wonderful it would be to have such pretty things springing up in my garden already. Hopefully by the end of May!

The hummingbirds arrive here the first week in May. I always have them out and ready before they get here so they can feed after their long journey.
We have had one of the harshest winters ever so I', waiting with bated breath to see if our periwinkle has survived.

All so pretty, I miss my gardens so much. I had a huge collection of hosta varities from my friend James before he passed - he was a member of the National Hosta Society. I had a "Friendship Garden" in memory of friends that I have lost and I'd sit and smile, remember special times we shared. I garden brings so much joy to everyone... enjoy! with all this, now i am wondering HOW you would know if spring had sprung. ha ha on that one. these are gorgeous. i love Phlox so much and have not seen them for years. as a child there was a field next to my aunts house and it was acres of phlox, i loved to lay in the midst of them and just feel the flowers.

Still waiting for the big color arrival here. It's a bit lacking because I did not plant the tulips in the fall that I had dug up before construction. There are some coming, though, they are just mid to late bloomers.

Those eaglets are so fun to watch. There was a fish up in the nest last night taking its last gasps of air. A bit weird to watch, but such is the circle of life.

Wow, girl, have you quenched my thirst for a mint julep while strolling through your stunning yard. I love it all. Blues are my favorites especially with yellow or pink. What a lovely place you have. No wonder the birds love you so.
I have never seen a pink ground phlox before....it's gorgeous. Do you know it's name?

Wow it is growing so fast now. It has already started to pop in your gardens. Love that bed by the road. I love how the hosta looks with the periwinkle. Everything is 'prettying' (not a word yet) up so nice. Hope you and George have great day.

PS I am coming to see your place in person this year.

Your yard is so pretty, Betsy! What gorgeous flowers! I am so excited to see the redbuds blooming here. A few trees aren't very full at all, but they are better than I first thought they would be. I also have lilacs blooming. It is such a welcome sight after the long cold winter! Have a great day.

Ok, you have inspired me. I have some flowers that need to be planted and will probably get to that today.
You and George have to be so proud of your yard. It is just stunning.

Everything is so beautiful!!! Spring has sprung at your house!!! But I must say that just as much as the flowers, I have been looking at those beautiful borders that George made, it really sets the flowers off. And I don't think these pictures would be near as pretty without them! My favorite has always been the little round bed, and the round scalloped border is making it outstanding.

Your garden looks really beautiful. I like the tulips and the woods in the back of your house.

Though I have a blog with Cruising, I am not a sailor anymore. A house hold man in a big crowded city in India doing computer job. I wish someday we move out of the crowd and to a calm place.

Thanks for the visit and comments in Cruise Picture

Hi Betsy, nothing in your garden is not beautiful. I can't get my eyes off them. And your blogsite has also sprung of spring with that fuchsia color all over matching the header, great! And you have lots of commenters, which if i were you, will be a great inspiration to post again and again.

You are really a few weeks ahead of us. Was that Asiatic lilies I see coming up along side tulips and daffodils (in the 1st pic)? Amazing!

Lynda said...

GORGEOUS yard! How many years have you lived there? You might have said and I forgot.

Carletta said...

I just remarked to George on his blog that I admired how your plantings are such that there is always color. When one goes there is something else to take it's place.
It is such a lovely yard. You and George deserve to be very proud of what you've done with it. It is beautiful!
My Mom told me it's time to put up the hummingbird feeder this week. I'm hoping to have some soon and maybe get better photos than I did last year. :)

Everything is beautiful and very colorful. I have to admit that I am a bit jealous. I am trying to learn to bloom where I'm planted: dry, windblown, Southern Colorado. When I see your photos, I envy your climate. Thanks for sharing.

You have such a beautiful yard.
I saw my first hummer this past weekend so I need to get my feeders out also.
Tonight may drive them back south to warmer weather as it is supposed to be 35 degrees here.
Have a blessed tomorrow
