My Christmas Angels

Well Folks---today is December 23.. Are you ready for the big day???? I am---but wish I had another week just to sit and relax and enjoy all of the joy which comes with Christmas. Wouldn't it be great if ALL of us could keep this joy inside our hearts all year long????? BUT--I guess if we did that, that would take some of the specialness away from Christmas. SO---I'll enjoy it as long as I can and I hope you will also.

Today and tomorrow, I will share my favorite Christmas Collection, my ANGELS.. I don't know how long I have been collecting angels---but I guess it has been most of my adult life. The header above in the middle of my blog is one of my favorite newer angels.. She's my largest angel --and I purchased her one year at a little shop in Arkansas. Her name is NOEL. Isn't she gorgeous?

Above this post is a picture of my Texas Cowgirl angel. I bought her when I lived in Texas (for 12 yrs). Below are more of my angels.

I just had to show you this angel. I got her about 1963 as a treetop angel---when I had my first Christmas tree. Wish I had a picture of our first Christmas tree back then. We had ALL blue lights --and we sprayed that horrible snow-spray all over the live tree... Mercy Percy!!!!!

This angel is definitely dated!!!! Look at the eyebrows and the blue eye shadow.... Yipes!!!! AND that blonde hair makes me call her Marilyn Monroe!!!!!! Can you believe that I saved this one all through the years?????? ha ha

This little girl was made by a friend in Hendersonville, TN after George and I were married. I had this friend make one for each of my granddaughters. Isn't she pretty? Her name is CAROLE.

You can't really tell by looking at this angel, but she is made using a white rose bud. She is gorgeous (her name is ROSE)---but you have to SEE her to appreciate her.

This little singing angel looks so angelic, doesn't she???? She is ceramic and has been in my family for many, many years. I think my parents got this one JUST for me ---since this angel is SO me..... And her name is BETSY. Angelic, right????????? Well.....................

Uh Oh----Look at the back of this little angelic angel... What do you see? A SLINGSHOT....??????? Oh My Goodness... She's not so angelic after all... (See why my parents got this one JUST for me??? Do you think they were telling me something??????? Hmmmmmm.)... Don't you just love the BETSY angel?????

Tomorrow, I'll show you more of my little Angel Collection.

Hope you are having a wonderful Christmas Adam (You know---the day before Christmas Eve is called Christmas Adam.... Right????)

P.S. Today is George's and my 102nd Monthaversary. We got married on June 23, 2001. Since we didn't meet until we were age 59---we have to celebrate months in addition to years. SO--tonight, we're going to the Olive Garden for dinner. YEAH!!!!

Christmas Bird Ornaments

Yesterday, I showed you just a few of George's and my ornaments that we have given each other through the years. I saved my favorites until now to share with you... As most of you know, I am a fairly new 'birder'... We had hummingbirds first --and then the Bluebirds came and nested in our backyard. That SOLD me.... Since then, I have loved every minute of seeing and feeding our backyard birds.

SO---last Christmas, George surprised me with some gorgeous bird ornaments. He couldn't have given me anything that would have been more special to me. Today, I share my sweet little bird ornaments with you.

The picture above is the only bird ornament I had before last Christmas. George gave me a gorgeous GLASS hummingbird several years ago. The picture isn't great, since I put the hummingbird in front of a candle which caught some of the camera flash. But you can get the idea of what this fragile little hummer looks like. He is gorgeous. Below are the ones from last year.

This little birdie is my new hummingbird.. He is much larger than the little glass one above.

I love this ornament. It is a little bluebird house with bluebirds sitting around it. Isn't that just beautiful????

This beauty is another of my favorite backyard birds, the Cardinal. Isn't he gorgeous sitting in our tree?

George took all kinds of pictures of me while I opened these ornaments last Christmas... Can you tell how happy I was?????? (Just a little! ha)

Right above the Bluebird house is a beautiful Goldfinch. I have many, many Goldfinches this year ---so this little bird is another of my fav's. (Note another of our special ornaments which I didn't feature yesterday: the little lovey-dovey couple in the top right of the picture!!!)

This was one happy gal----looking at that Goldfinch, don't you think??? I still smile when I see the bird ornaments on our tree.

Finally, here's a picture showing three of the four bird ornaments: Goldfinch, Bluebirds and Cardinal. I hope you enjoyed seeing my 'birdie' ornaments!!!!

What is/are your very favorite ornament(s)?????

Hugs,

P.S. We drove to Hendersonville yesterday to see George's parents and take them out for an early Christmas Dinner at Mimi's Cafe. They are doing fine and will be with George's sister on Christmas Day. All of the family put a monetary gift to missions in their church in their honor for Christmas. Dad said that that gift made him so happy that he almost cried. God Bless this wonderful couple.
