MY LOVE OF BASEBALL

George Springer,  MVP of the World Series
CONGRATULATIONS to my favorite BASEBALL team,  the HOUSTON ASTROS,  for winning the 2017  WORLD SERIES of BASEBALL.    Because of my love for this team and for baseball,  I just 'had' to share my story today!!!!!!  Here it is:

MY LOVE OF BASEBALL goes back to when I was a child. My Dad LOVED baseball and when a 'farm' league team came to our town one year, Daddy sold tickets and I went with him to almost every game.

Daddy also love the Yankees. Back then, he would have to go into the local 'pool hall' in Big Stone Gap and check the ticker tape machine in order to get the scores. One time Daddy took me into that 'pool hall' (local bar) to get the score---and MAN--did Daddy ever get in trouble with Mama. She said: "Don't EVER take our daughter into that place again!" ha ha ha... And Daddy, being the perfect husband, never did that again. (TRUE STORY)

Daddy and I had a little game going between us. Since he loved the Yankees, I was a Brooklyn Dodger fan... We had so much fun teasing each other about these teams. Oh--how I loved my sweet Daddy.

When I moved to Texas in 1988, I became a Houston Astros fan... I even went to some of the games through the years in my 12 years there. My favorite players back then were Biggio and Bagwell.... Recently, I have seen the team get better and better. This year was their year!!! I have never seen a group of guys love each other so much and play for each other... CONGRATS to 'my' team for bringing so much love and joy to me and to the city of Houston. "MY" HOUSTON ASTROS beat the Dodgers last night and won the 2017 WORLD SERIES of BASEBALL.... Wow-WOW--WOOOOOWWWW. I'm still so so so excited this morning.

Happy, Happy Team after their win!

I just had to share the JOY...
Hugs,

Betsy, Since the Cubs and the Cardinals were out of it this year, we were indeed rooting for the Astros. Great bunch of ball players! Growing up I used to follow the Detroit Tigers. My son and his boys won't watch baseball...too slow and too boring for them. Bums me out! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

Pretty sure I heard you cheering here in Arkansas!!! Congrats on a wonderful win and a great series. I watched the whole series and since I had no horse in the race, I chose the Astros partly because of you and partly because it is hard to cheer for a team with a zillion dollar payroll. Enjoy this well earned and fabulous win. By the way, if you all will part with Morton, I'm sure we Marlins could make a deal. Loved the way he pitched.

I can hear your excitement clear here to my house! Having grown up in Omaha, Nebraska we had the College World Series every year and the Royals team.. Baseball has always been my favorite sport to follow. Here in Spokane we have the Indians and we’ve gone to many of their games too. No pro teams here, unless you count the Seattle Mariners and I don’t think I’ve ever watched any of their games. Congratulations on your big win last night!!!
Blessings,
Betsy

Now I know where your love and enthusiasm of the game comes from! I am really not a big fan of any sport. BUT I love baseball because it is not violent like football, which has so many serious injuries.

Betsy,I'm not much into any sports, but I'm thinking that watching a baseball game with you would be exciting.

How nice that your team made it. We are Blue Jay fans but not as avid as you. We have been to a few games. My fun was teaching the sport to beginners in gym class. Some were so keen to pitch or catch and batting was always a challenge. It was exciting when a bat and ball connected and kids vall cheered on the players.

Great year to be a Houston fan. My grandmother in northern WV loved her Pittsburgh Pirates and rarely missed a TV game.

My family was rooting for the Astros, mainly I think because they'd never won a World Series. I remember when I was a kid at home, my dad always listened to the St. Louis Cardinals on the radio. He was hard of hearing even then and when they had a night game he turned the radio up so loud that I couldn't sleep. lol! My guys always have the sports channels on when my son comes home, but sports aren't as interesting to me as they used to be. Enjoy your weekend! xx Cheryl
