2016 PANSIES in our YARD

Now that I'm 'trying' to catch up some on my Blog Posts,   I want to show you some of our pretty little Pansies in our yard (pictures taken March-May, 2016)....  Pansies (and some Vinca in Summer) are the only ANNUALS we plant here.. All of the rest of our flowers are PERENNIALS --which come back year after year (hopefully)...

I  do like PANSIES --and we plant them in late FALL --in order to have some color in the yard during Winter....Most of the time,  Pansies will last through a cold winter (unless it is extremely cold for a long period of time)...   IF they make it through our fairly mild winters here,  they will perk up BIGTIME in Spring --and will bloom until about mid-June or July (when it gets WAY too hot for them)...

This year's group did well --so I want to share some of the different colors and varieties we have had. Hope you enjoy seeing these pretty little flowers... They always make me smile!!!!  You can click on the photos to see them larger...

Do you have a favorite?  I love them all,  especially in groups (like the top picture and the one just above here) --but a new one to our yard (I think) is the 7th one from the bottom... Very unique!!!!

I hope I made you smile today.   I LOVE my Pansies --and miss them now that they are gone.  BUT---we have planted a few VINCA to replace them.  Vinca love sunshine and hot weather... Do you plant either Pansies or Vinca?

WELL---August is quickly upon us!!!!   (I am SO ready for FALL --since we have had a VERY hot summer here.)  Not sure I'll be blogging next week since it's my Birthday Week... Sweetie has a SURPRISE for me.... You'll hear all about it soon I'm sure!!!!

Hugs to ALL,

I love all of your pansies. They're one of my favorite flowers and your are gorgeous. It's hot here too and although I absolutely detest winter I'm ready for some cooler weather.
Have fun next week my friend.
Blessings,
Betsy

I love pansies too, I miss them when they stop blooming in our hot summers!
I love all flowers really. We have some lovely wildflowers here, we have Yellow Daisies that will bloom in September and October, I can't wait for them to bloom!

I, too, love pansies; and I think my favorite was the same as yours if I counted right. It's the yellow one with the purple center and the lavender edges. I've never seen one quite like that. It's gorgeous!

Nice selection of the Pansies! They're good for early spring here, and will reseed themselves, but won't survive the winter.

Betsy, Beautiful selection of pansies! You have such a colorful yard... How do you keep the deer from eating all the beauty? They regularly trim our bushes and they love my wife's hostas. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

Pansies provide so much colour in the garden. My favourite is the first one, the delicate blue one.

I do love the sweet little faces of the Pansies but for some reason never plant them but I am a big time fan of Vinca and they thrive in the heat.

Love pansies. I gravitate towards the purple and blues, but I like them all. My spring ones are still blooming, but they are beginning to look a bit tired.

You always make me smile, Betsy. You and George are just about the happiest people I know...and I really don't know you, but feel like I do! Have a super day. My favorite pansies are the purple and yellow ones..but those red ones are new to me and they are sure pretty, too!

Your pansies are beautiful. I live in Nashville, TN and they last through the winter here as well -- brightening up the dull winter days. I especially love the purple and yellow ones. They have such sweet faces.

Hi Betsy, i am glad i came in here even a bit late. Pansies became favorites the first time i saw them in Sweden, Turkey and France. Unfortunately, they will not grow in our humid tropics. But everytime i see them, i get so inspired looking at those colors. I envy yours as they are so varied. I haven't seen those blues in real life, didn't know it exist. I don't know when i will be able to visit a temperate country again, so i can again some pansies. Thank you. Best regards to George too.
