Beautiful Flowers in Winter

Amaryllis
When we visited the Conservatory at Biltmore House and Gardens on Dec. 2, 2013,  we captured some gorgeous shots of their Poinsettias and Amaryllis blooms.  Today, I'll share some of these with you.  Be sure to click on the photos for enlargements.

Poinsettia Tree
As you can imagine,  after seeing all of this beauty,  George and I were definitely in the mood for Christmas.  Now that it's well into January,  I must admit that since I love Christmas SO much,  I go through a 'down' time after it is all over...  There's just so much beauty and so much joy during the Christmas season.  I only wish there was a way we could keep that kind of enthusiasm about life going the rest of the year.  But--just like life itself,  there are always ups and downs!!!!!  Fun fun!!!!

NOTE:  Anyone getting an email from me (with a Cox.net address)--do NOT open it. I will not send out an email just with a link.  The one that hubby got, was a link and said AMAZING.   I must have gotten spammed!  I will change passwords AGAIN.  Thanks..

Another NOTE:  NOTE:  Anyone with Google+  may want to read THIS if you don't want your name used in advertisements --which you may not recommend.

Have a great day.

Hugs,

Gorgeous flowers. Our spotted Poinsettias are still doing well and We did not have any Amaryllis this year. I don't know why either. We had a living tree this year and it is so beautiful. I have it at the corner but soon we will move it somewhere else. MB

Oh Betsy, i thought the amaryllis are yours, i will ask for some bulbs, haha. Unfortunately, they are in the conservatory. But everything there is colorful, love the poinsettias too but i don't want them in mine, just want to look at them.

Awesome photos! I love seeing more of Biltmore House. It's been a long time since we've been. Have a good weekend.

Beautiful flowers! I always miss the beauty of Christmas when everything is put away. The lights, the color just make the house look so festive and when that is put away, it is soooo boring. Ha!
Have a fun weekend!

What a delight seeing all that color. I am living in a state of beige here.
Part of the after holiday let down is taking down decorations. Homes that use to be great suddenly look blah without all the glitter.
I don't decorate because of Minnie so I don't have that. I just enjoy other peoples.

Hi Betsy, I want to go to the Biltmore some day! Beautiful holiday flowers. Poinsettias used to be very exotic Mexican flowers and are now extremely popular all over America. We had a hedge of 8' tall Poinsettias in our yard in Los Angeles when I was a girl. Have a super good weekend!

For the past 15 years or so I have bought Amryllis bulbs for my birthday and had beautiful blooms for Christmas. This was the first year I didn't do it. Maybe that was a sign of things to come! lol. I love them and how quickly they grow and open. Love your pictures!

What a lovely lot of different varieties of poinsettia in the botanical gardens. I've never been able to keep them going at home. I have an artificial one in a pot with two robins which I've kept out for this season as we have a lot of red in our decor. I do like the paler coloured flowers though and I'm looking forward to Springtime!

Your pictures make me sad. I had bought a ticket to the Biltmore House to go with Rebekah and some of her family that came in for Christmas. Our day was the Friday after Christmas and I was so sick and coughing every breath I didn't get to go. She said it was a good thing I didn't because it was so crowded that day the house was actually shut down because of fire rules. They finally got to go in because they had pre-purchased tickets but it was so crowded it was unreal.
My ticket is still good so we are going to try it next year before Christmas.
I don't like big crowds, that's why I love your tickets because there is no crowd and we freely roam the trails all around the estate.
Thanks again and have a blessed weekend

You know if you took the time and figured it out I bet you could have flowers growing all the time - like one grows, then the next, and so
forth.

I really like the Amaryllis.

I love flowers. One of nature's masterpieces. There are other masterpieces, i.e.. the fluffy snow we got yesterday, beautiful, but….
Well, I won't go there.
