Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

What I LOVE about AUTUMN

1.  COOLER Temperatures  (can wear sweatsuits,  sweaters, etc.) (Photo from Internet)
There are so many wonderful things about FALL/AUTUMN.    I do love spring ---but in many ways,  I love Fall even more!!!!!   Today I will share 12 things that I love about Autumn (not in any particular order)... I'm sure you can add to the list---so this is a chance for you to tell me other ways that we can ALL enjoy Fall...

Above is a photo talking about one thing  I really love about Autumn:  cooler temperatures --so that we can wear our new sweatsuits,  sweaters,  scarves,  etc.... Gotta love it!!!!

2.   Fires in our Wood-burning Fireplace
Above is a photo I took on  October 8, 2013.... We had our FIRST wood-fire of the season that evening....   I LOVE it.... There's just not much better than a warm, cozy, roaring fire in the fireplace!!!!

3.  PUMPKIN Fudge  (Photo from Internet)
Those who know me know that I love ANYTHING Pumpkin... I had some Pumpkin Fudge while on vacation.  I also am enjoying Pumpkin Spice Coffee and Pumpkin Hot Tea.....  YUM!!!!!  Give me lots of things made from Pumpkin this time of year!!!!

4.   Fall Colors on the Trees
Here is a photo I took a few years ago here in Fairfield Glade during the peak of Fall season.   Isn't that a gorgeous tree????

5.   Honey Crisp Apples  (Photos from the Internet)
George and I  love APPLES---and in the Fall,  we can get our favorite EATING apple,  the Honey Crisp Apple.  Honey Crisp Apples are crisp,  and are sweet AND tart....  WONDERFUL!!!!

6.  Hiking --and feeling the crunch of leaves under my feet!
We love HIKING during all seasons (except the hot summers).   There's nothing better than hiking in the mountains (this was taken by George while we were on the Foothills Parkway in the Smokies in 2012) ---especially in the Fall.   I love the cooler air and I really love hearing the leaves crunch under my feet when I am hiking!

7.  It's Football Time in Tennessee (Photo from Internet)
I LOVE Football --especially my Tennessee Vols... SO----Fall here in Tennessee is an exciting time for us....

8.  Hot Apple Cider  (Photo from the Internet)
Besides Pumpkin Coffee and Pumpkin Hot Tea,  I also LOVE Hot Apple Cider this time of year.... Delicious---and the house smells wonderful when it is on the stove!!!!

9.  Blowing the Leaves
YES---this is work,  but one of my jobs all Fall is to either rake and/or blow the leaves out of the yard...  I truly enjoy it ---and it's good exercise.   This photo was taken a few years ago --when I had really short hair and was several pounds heavier....  (Another thing I love about Autumn is not only blowing leaves;  it is PLAYING in the leaves!!!  I am a child at heart!)

10.  Electric Blanket  (Photo from the Internet)
Here is another Fall/Winter favorite of mine----our Electric Blanket... I am sorta weird in that I love to sleep in a cold bedroom (with the windows opened) ---with the 'blankie' turned on... It's TERRIFIC to get into a warm bed at nights!!!

11,  Winter Pansies Planted
Fall is the time when we plant  lots of Winter Pansies in our yard.  They are so pretty and give the yard a little color through the drab winters here.

12.  Decorating the house/yard
And  finally,  here is another thing I love about Autumn... I am not a 'huge' decorator this time of year,  but do enjoy putting out a few things to celebrate the season.  This photo was taken on October 9,  2013.

WELL---I'm sure I have left out many other things which people love about Autumn.... Now--it's YOUR turn to give some of your favorite things about Fall....

The key though is to just get outside and enjoy life --anyway you can!!!

Have a great day!
Hugs,

Your photos are beautiful with the Autumn colors! I love this season too when it gets cooler each day. We have same traits to sleep with windows open and cuddle under blankets instead. I am not weird alone! LOL

Oh Betsy everything just looks gorgeous at your place!! Makes me miss the southern part of Oz where they actually do have an autumn! No autumn here in the tropics, just awfully hot or jolly hot!! :)
Enjoy that cool change as it heats up here!

Nice!! I love the leaves changing colors and the cooler fall temperatures! We had three or four days of what I would call perfect weather.

Great reasons for loving fall.

I've never heard of pumpkin fudge, so had to look it up, found lots of recipes and am going to give it a try. :-)

Enjoy your autumn season.

I love it all the same so I'll just focus on your weirdness.
I, too, have the windows open a bit in winter (my mother claimed that she sometimes came into my room and there would be snow on my bed) because I love a cold room. We don't have an electric blanket but do have a down comforter and a warm dalmatian!!

Best,
Bonnie

what i love about autumn is we can have the AC off for half the day...

Sun finally shining today, so I will re-do the pots by emptying most of them and washing them and saving them for next year. Then tomorrow I buy some bulbs for spring. Pumpkin fudge and you still are thin!!!

I just love the Autumn colors. A warm fire, sounds comfy and cozy! Lovely series of images. Have a happy day!

Great post! I love everything pumpkin too but never tried pumpkin fudge. I like pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting. Also love sweet potatoes cooked all kind of different ways especially sweet potato and sausage soup!

You made me smile with this post. Your enthusiasm is almost tangible. Great reasons to love fall. Can't think of a thing to add to it. Must try pumpkin fudge sometime.

Neat list, Betsy! My favorite fall thing would have to be the changing leaves. I love all those reds and yellows and oranges. Love your photo of the brightly colored leaves!

I love the photo of you with the fall trees in the background as well as your cute decorations!
We might be twinsies since I love a cold room and a warm blankie too. :)
For us, it is nice to just open our windows, turn off the a/c and get some fresh air into our home. LOVE that!!

I, too, love Fall. But I also love Spring, Summer and Winter. Well, winter as long as I'm in AZ and not up north. However, I am not a huge pumpkin fan so the fudge didn't appeal to me.

I do love the colors of Autumn and your captures are so beautiful, as always, Betsy! I love the crisp, cool days and the amazing colors of the season! Thanks for sharing the beauty of your world with us!! Have a wonderful, colorful week!

Totally agree with your "Autumn loves"-- I sure miss my fireplace. Not however into leaf blowing or open windows. Love a cool bedroom but can't go that far. I do love the luxury however when it gets a wee bit too cold to turn on the electric blanket. Bliss.

My favorite thing is that we "fall back" to standard time!

Also, Fall means a trip to my college Homecoming! Fun to see good friends!

Leaf blowing now that looks like fun. I would not mind doing that job. Anything to get out side.
I like all the fall smells like baking apple pie, pumpkin pie, canning all our farm produce.

I think you pretty much covered it all Betsy. I just wish that fall didn't mean winter was right around the corner

I like Fall also. But no planting of anything here...we have too much snow and they would just freeze.

I love fall because it means that Christmas is not far behind!!! The seasons that include family times, like Thanksgiving and Christmas, seem to come in the fall, and they always bring me great joy!

Hi Betsy, I sure will miss getting fresh, right off the tree apples from Rowell's Apple House on Hwy. 70. Oh well. I also miss the Fall colors. I don't miss colder weather at all. Your yard is lovely. Have a great day tomorrow!

All great things about fall. I can skip the football though except I love marching bands.

All I can say about this post is ditto, ditto & ditto. Couldn't of said it better myself and am in total agreement with all except possibly the leaf raking one. That you can have!!

Fall is my favorite time of year. It seems as if the entire world sighs a sigh of relief from the cold days of winter, and the busy, hot days of spring and summer. I am jealous that you have already had a nice fire we haven't even needed to close our windows but a couple nights so far.
Blessings

I LOVE the colors when we have a spectacular color show. Some autumns are "okay" but then some are brilliant. I am ready for another brilliant as depicted in a couple of your photos.
My younger daughter is a huge fan of the Honey Crisp, too.
Autumn is my favorite season. It's such a relief after the hot summer.

Happy list! I would fry under that blanket though.

Well I agree with you about fall colours, warm clothes, hiking, and honey crisp apples (my favourite too). I'd add no bugs in the woods, beautiful blue skies, and cool weather for sleeping. Great post!

Sweet lady....you now have me longing for Fall weather. I'ts still a bit warm around here, so therefore, our trees are not full of color yet. No need for a fire around here. Air conditioner is still running. I'm so happy that you posted all of these wonderful pics. Puts me in the mood.
have a happy evening..

Agreed - autumn is a wonderful time of year. Love all the colours in your photos.

You've given us a good, illustrated list with photos. I enjoy my blog friends' posts showing how you celebrate Autumn in the U.S. I love your colourful Fall photos and decorated porches. Our personal celebration of Autumn as well as the turning of the leaves and the
seasonal flowers is the gathering of our vegetable and fruit crops and our thanksgiving harvest services and suppers and collecting suitable food for the hungry, homeless and those less fortunate than ourselves.

Well, we don't have 'autumn' here 'til about December. The cooler nights are coming in the near future, but rarely do we have leaves turning color ...when they do, it's only a few weeks before they pop out in Spring.

I just wrote a bit about Autumn in the Colorado Rockies this morning in my HODGEPODGE section. The Aspen turning in the high country. The smells, the fireplace smoke odor coming from inside a happy home when I'm walking outdoors...the season of so many good things, pumpkin pie, turkey/dressing, cranberries....family time, holidays. So many good things about Fall!!!

Loved your photo shares Betsy.

You covered the love of fall very well. I like it too, but I definitely would not want an open window when it is cold. Apple cider one of the best.

I love your Fall post Betsy and I would say that it is my favorite season also.

We don't have autumn here, rather its rainy season... and it is supposed to showering! I learn interesting things about autumn from your side. That sounds really fun blowing the leaves... I ever heard about this method of sweeping. You have a cute decoration there Betsy :) Enjoy your favorite season... Warm wishes from me!

Hi Betsy!
I do love pumpkin, specialy a kind o sweet made of it in Brazil, hummmmmm!!!! Your American trees are so beautiful in this season! We don't have all those colours here. In the most part of Brazil we just have two definite seasons: winter (less) and summer. I'd like to know the U.S in the fall, with sure!

A big hug and a great week

Hi Betsy, you know i very much envy the autumn leaves especially viewed at wide angle shots of the colorful forest. You very well know that i haven't seen nor experienced fall, and I very much envy your "child-like" play with the leaves, i want to walk barefoot on them. I wonder if i still will be able to experience that in this lifetime.

I wonder why you have to use photos from the internet, when i am sure you have better ones in your collection. Are you just very busy or maybe you can't locate them from your files, haha. Regards to George!

I love anything *pumpkin* this time of the year, Betsy, and I'm also a honey crisp apple lover!

Autumn is really my favorite time of the year and I am enjoying my first Colorado fall season. It was also nice to visit upstate New York last week and see the foliage there. It rivals New England. I saw your facebook photo and I have to say SC also has beautiful autumn colors!

I love fall! I love the crispness in the air and the feel of it blowing through my hair when we walk our pups. :) I can wear cuter and comfier clothes. I sure hope it cools off here soon, we're still running our AC.

Apples....yum! I agree with most of your points. Football not so much:) Not into sports, but I like that there are people who like sports so that their spouses can go out birding with me:) It's a win win for everyone. As for pumpkin fudge......interesting.
