Backyard Birds on a Snowy Day

Eastern Bluebird
We have had quite a bit of snow off and on recently.  My backyard birds flock to the feeders most every single day,  but on a snowy day,  they come even more so!!!!!  SO--I got the camera out and took a few pictures to share with you recently.  Be sure to click on the pictures for enlargements.

Mourning Dove hogging the plate feeder

Pileated Woodpecker --thinking about getting to the feeder!

And a COLD, PUFFED UP Tufted Titmouse

There were other birds (Cardinals, Chickadees, Nuthatches)---but they escaped my camera this time.  Anyhow-- hope you enjoyed seeing more of my wonderful Backyard Birdies...

On Wednesday,  I will publish a post on my new PHOTO BLOG.  Be sure to click HERE to see the Wednesday post.

We had a fabulous weekend hiking and searching for waterfalls at the Little River Canyon and at DeSoto State Park near Fort Payne, Alabama.  This was George's big 71st birthday weekend celebration --and we had a BLAST.  Here's a picture of George blowing out all 71 (7 + 1) candles on his German Chocolate Cake.... I'll do an entire post about his birthday weekend on Friday.  SO be sure and tune in!!!!!!

Hugs,

The same happens here on rainy or snowy days - the birds can hardly wait to get food.
You had some very lovely visitors to your feeders. That little Titmouse is so cute all fluffed up.
It's been forever since I've had German chocolate cake - sounds yummy! Will look forward to more pics of your weekend.

Great captures, Betsy! Aren't we lucky to have so many beautiful birds in our backyards?? I had so much fun watching them fight over the feeders during our 2 big snow storms. They are about to eat us out of house and home!

George looks like he's having a good time on his birthday. Hope it was a good one!

love the 7 + 1 candles. so cute. great idea. keep celebrating. i think as we all get older - why not string out the celebrations & really enjoy it. make it extra special.

enjoy your week. ( :

You sure get a lot of beautiful birds. Great pictures you got of them too!!

We moved from our place in the country to civilization a few years ago and since then, I just don't see the birds I used to.

The last couple of days have been beautiful here,... lots of sunshine. Yesterday it got up to 62 degrees. The birds should like the warm weather coming on.

I knew you two would have a great time on George's birthday. You two certainly know how to celebrate.
So envious of your Blue Bird. I haven't seen one in several years.

always enjoy seeing your feathered friends.

happy happy to George. I know you both enjoyed the celebration.

You get so many beautiful birds at your feeders. All winter the finches and wrens have hogged the feeder. Yesterday the redwing blackbirds descended on the feeder so I had to put the feeder inside a cage to keep them away. Once the snow melts I will be able to put out more feeders and the cage won't be necessary.

These are great. Such beautiful color on the bluebirds. When I see birds in snow and cold, it's always a marvel to me that they can survive such weather. They seem so fragile. But they're hardier than they look.

Happy Birthday to George!

I love bluebirds, and we occasionally will see one or two. Our neighbor has a bluebird house.

Crows - three of them - are what greeted me as I went out my door for the morning paper today! We are not eager to feed them.:-)

Have a good Monday!

You are so lucky to get to see such a beautiful assortment of birds in your backyard! Spring must be right around the corner! Robins in our area are a good sign that winter is over but it will sometimes snow even after they have came back. I can see the yellow feathers coming through on the yellow birds. I seen a butterfly in our yard yesterday!

Hugs,
Angela

Betsy my comments began having so many advertising mail I spent most of the day trying to get them off. I also don't like the word verification and to use it I have to go to internet explorer,so it's inconvenient. but for now I have no choice but to keep it. Maybe later they will stop sending them if they get returned.

You have so many beautiful birds visiting! I can't choose a favorite!
We like the squirrels as well here in Orlando. Our pups actually found a baby squirrel and didn't hurt it. I took a few pics and ended up taking it to the wildlife rescue. I have raised squirrels and you would probably be surprised how sweet they can be. :)
Looking forward to hearing how good that cake was! lol
