Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

Yearning...

My knee problem began the first of May... SO--it's been a long and hard couple of months for me... With the pain and medication problems came some real "DOWN" time for me with lots of tears and Pity Parties..

My husband has been wonderful, and very patient with my moodiness. But--he wants his positive, happy gal back... And ---so do I... Out of my tears recently came the statement, "I just want my old self back. I want to feel better."

SO---George came up with an idea to bring that smile back to my face. He was going to take me to my favorite place in the world, our little cabin at Mt. Nebo, Arkansas. IF that won't make me smile, nothing will!!!!!

Here are some pictures taken this past February on our trip to Paradise. Above is the precious little cabin where we stay. Below are more.

This is the back patio/porch area of the cabin. Since we always go to Nebo in the late Fall or Winter, we have never gotten to sit outside much --or have a picnic at the picnic table. Wouldn't it be fun to be there during the Summer?

AND--while we sit on the porch or at the picnic table, this is our view.... Wow--life is good at Mt. Nebo!!!!

OR---we could get up early and enjoy this beautiful sunrise....Oh My Heart!!!

OR---we could sit and enjoy seeing these Cutie Pies---without having to worry about them eating our Roses!!!!!

OR----we could sit outside until after dark, watching the sun go down in the west....

NOW---there's good news and there's bad news to this story. The good news is that I think I have found Betsy --and she's not hiding in the depths of depression anymore.

Thanks to my good friend, MILDRED, I found something to soothe my tummy... After trying several things, I found that Maalox did the trick... Thank you, Mildred!!!! AND--my knee pain has gotten much better and I am OFF of both of those horrible prescription drugs. I finally think I am on the mend.... It has been a long two months.

The bad news is that, since I am doing so well, I guess that trip is OFF. We are planning a big August trip---so I'll just have to build up my strength for that trip. The other part of that problem is that Mt. Nebo is usually FULL in the Summer and we don't have reservations. Oh Well---it's fun to yearn for paradise.....

What do you think????? Should I get sick again????? Nah---probably not!!!! That was not a fun couple of months.

Hugs,

I too think you should wait for full recovery of your knee and do a GRAND trip to Mt. Nebo in August :)

If you get sick again and end up going, I bet that will be your healing place! Seems like your special guy is hurt to see you suffering. That sounds terrible! I'm glad you're improving again... I don't imagine your knee trouble is worth that special place actually! haha.

Betsy,
You are the kind of gal we love. Just like us. Honest about the good times and the bad. Pain in pain and those meds sure do upset the stomach. I'm thankful you are on the mend and closer to feeling like your old self. Blessings to you.

Good Morning Betsy, I am so happy you are beginning to feel better! I loved seeing the photos from Mt. Nebo; good memories from earlier and now hopeful plans for the future to enjoy Paradise. While you continue to improve and strengthen your knee, you and George enjoy those pretty roses, birds and sunsets there in the Glade! (glad the Maalox helped your tummy) Hope you both have a good day.

Glad you are on the mend and getting your strength back Betsy. Something like that injury can take a lot out of a person in terms of pain and healing time.

I think just looking at the pictures made you feel better! That is a beautiful place, hope you get there soon.

That sure is one beautiful place and even if you can't get there now the memories seem to have bucked you up. Glad you are felling a little better. I can understand your miserableness (is that a word?)After my op May 2009 I thought I would be better in a few weeks but it took 4 months for me to feel better and even now I don't feel as strong and fit as I was before that. It sure is a pain growing old.

Wonderful that Maalox did the trick in helping your poor tummy! Good advice! Betsy, I'm glad you are feeling so much better. Chronic pain can really do a number on one's spirit and emotions! Our loved ones feel with us but they are helpless. August will be here before we know it and you'll have that trip to your special place! Those photos are stunning and show off its beauty!! Have an awesome day! Hugs!

I'm sorry you've been so down! Pain is hard to deal with and meds are even worse.
That view is to die for! (don't do it though...) :)
Can't wait to see/hear about your August trip! I might have to copycat you guys...again.

Hmmmm..... I am thinking we should clone that wonderful George so that every gal can experience being loved like he obviously loves you. You are one lucky woman (though I think George is a lucky guy too!).

Those deer are absolutely wonderful ~ aren't they just such beautiful creatures.

So glad your tummy is feeling better and that everything seems to be straightening out for you.

Have a Happy day Betsy!

...glad to hear you are doing better. Knee pain is horrible!!! I deal with ankle pain daily (since 1985) and I know that feeling of not being able to do what you want to do...now I continue to fight a torn plantar ligament. I sound like I'm falling apart! :-)

So glad to hear how much better you are doing and you are off the drugs. I remember when you went to Mt. Nebo and how much you love it but you will be in great shape by August to enjoy your trip. I can't stand to be sick or feeling not like myself either and I get in those moods, too. Thank God it is supposed to be less humid here after today and I can get outside more. I can't stand to be trapped inside either by sickness or the weather. Have a great week.

Sounds like you are on the road to recovery:) When you're used to a lot of activity and exercise, enforced rest can cause depression. .

And the better news is that you are on the road to recovery. It just takes time and lots of prayer.

Those pictures are just about heaven on earth. The good thing about waiting is that there won't be as many mosquitoes!! For us it's so bad right now, we can hardly go outside but come August it does start to get better so I wait (no so) patiently!!

I'm so glad to hear that you are finally on the mend Betsy, what a long time it's been. Good that you're off those awful meds too. Having been given then when I had my hips done, I can't understand how people can get addicted to them They make me feel as bad as you felt!!

As usual, beautiful photos on this blog. I love them.

Yes, I think I finally figured out the cell phone. I don't think I'll be using Web on it very much. Screen is way too small. I got my email set up, but since it is NOT a "smart" phone, I cannot send photos via email with it. I can send photos with texting though.

Sorry you've been in such a funk. Being laid up and house bound is no fun, no siree, no fun in deed. Glad to hear you are off of those awful meds and it sounds like you really are on the mend. Do take it easy so you mend well.

Betsy, so glad to hear you are feeling better. Getting off that medicine always makes a big difference.
Thank you so much for your concern and prayers for my son, seems only God knows what's going on with him now. He still has a 102.5 fever this morning and all the doctors are scratching their heads. His white cell count is normal and there is still nothing in his blood to show an infection.
All we are doing is praying and putting him in God's hands at this point. Blessings to you

I am so glad you are starting to feel better!! Constant pain will depress you, also those pain pills can have a downer effect! Now that you are out of the woods painwise, you will enjoy life even more, if that is possible! Because you're a very exhuberant person anyway. Love the sunrise and sunset!!

How wonderful it was to check in with you today and see that you are feeling much better!! Yay!! And how wonderful of George to think of a wonderful trip to help you feel better. I say build up the strength to enjoy a fantastic trip there in August!! Set small goals in walks and eventually you will be climbing to waterfalls. Have a wonderful week.

It's so good to hear from our "real" Betsy again...we knew you were still around but just having some "issues"... So happy you're feeling well and are back to looking forward to your trip.
I've been up to my ears in everything this summer and have neglected my blogging but hopefully I'll be better. I messed up my lil ole hands while working on my bedroom project and had to rest them and wear some braces for awhile but better now...I never realized how typing could actually hurt!!!
Glad you're back Betsy!!!

I am glad that you are not hiding on the depths of depression anymore. You made yourself available for others yet you've been through a lot.

Thank you very much!!!!

Pain is no good. It can change everything. When you look back at a time you were in pain you see yourself in a different world, I think you are. But it's a whole lot better in the one that's more familiar and happy. You'll have those wonderful things to look forward to and I hope some others before the summer is over. Blessings,Diane

Please don't get sick again just to get a trip :-) LOL! George will have to take you on some short trips to keep testing the knees and building up the strength again. I'm glad that there have been positive improvements and that you are feeling happier. It is hard when something like this first hits you, and you just want to go back to the way things were. You will find a new way and be just as happy! Prayers and hugs!

Mt. Nebo looks like a beautiful place but if it's anything like our favorite places there is little hope of getting a reservation in the summer.
