Beauty All Around

While I recuperate from knee surgery, I will show you some of the beautiful things all around me --which have helped keep my spirits up. Above is one of my new hanging baskets given to me on Mother's Day by my son, Jeff. It's VERBENA and is really putting on a show for me. Below are more 'beauties'.

This is the other hanging basket that Jeff gave me on Mother's Day. It is FUCHSIA and is also blooming like crazy... I've enjoyed see these two hanging baskets SO much.

I can see these beauties from the house --while looking out toward the road. This is one of my favorite roses, VETERAN'S HONOR --showing off for ME. It is in the new flowerbed near the road. George brought one of the blooms inside for me to enjoy.

Here is another of my favorite roses, DOUBLE DELIGHT. George also brought one of these into the house just for me to smell.

These two lilies are new this year, and are called LOLLY POP. They are also in the new flowerbed next to the road. Aren't they pretty?

This is another new lily in our yard this year. Since I love all RED flowers, I just had to show him to you. His name is MONTENEGRO.

And---last but definitely not least, look at this 'beauty'.... I have waited so long to see a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER come to our deck to the suet feeder. We have lots of woodpeckers, but this gorgeous one has only recently begun coming to the feeder. I was so excited to finally get a picture of him.

About my knee surgery, the good news is that the knee is healing nicely and the swelling and bruising has gone down. AND--there is not much pain, and I can walk some on that leg. However, I don't know if it is the medication (which I am no longer taking) --or if I picked up a 'bug' at the hospital. But I have been horribly sick to my stomach, very weak, and running a fever for the past couple of days. I felt a little better yesterday afternoon---so I am glad that I could do this post for you. However, I have done no computer work all weekend --and don't know when I'll get back to normal. Please be patient with me --and pray for me to be patient (which is hard--ha) while I continue to recover. Hopefully, I'll be be feeling much better very soon.

Hugs,

The flowers are pretty and neat but the red headed woodpecker gets a treat.

I really wish I had them come here.
I try and try but haven't made it clear.

Because I only get Downys and Red-bellied and Hairys too;

It makes me so angry I don't know what I'll do.

This one looks so big
I am betting it larger than a
Red-bellied Woodpecker.

I am envious.

Oh no, you poor thing. I hope you get to feeling all better. Getting over the knee surgery would be bad enough, but adding a stomach thing on top of that is awful!

I am so envious of your woodpecker though!!!

Hay, enough is enough. Gee whiskers, now a sick stomach--yikes.
Glad you knee is better but get the rest of you better also.
Do take good care.

Hi, Betsy. I'm so glad to know that your surgery went well, but sorry to hear of your tummy troubles. I do pray that you shall soon get back to normal. You are so blessed to have George to take care of you and to bring your roses.

Your roses are lovely...and I love that red-headed woodpecker. I'm just a little bit jealous. :-)

Just wonderful pictures. All you have to do is rest while God gives you a show (with some help from George). I was excited to see the Red Headed!! The Verbena remind me a little of Azelias. We have a vine growing wild that looks very similar to the fushcia. But it is purple where yours is red. I'm going to post it at some point to see if anyone knows what it is. What a wonderful picture of the Double Delight!! I'm so sorry you are feeling bad. I'm sure you looked at your knee to make sure you aren't getting a small infection at the site. I know my doctor had said if I run a fever after the surgery, to call him. But it is so easy to pick up a bug in the hospital. The first time I went into an O.R., I was so surprised at how very cold it is in there. They told me they keep it frigid so germs will not grow. Germs like heat and also humidity. Please keep us posted.

Hope you will soon be feeling better.

Betsy, if you don't feel better soon, please call your Dr.
It is unfortunate that we can get sicker while in the hospital!!!

Love all your pretties.
With all those flowers inside the house, it reminds me of something my Grandma used to say: "looks like a funeral in here!!!"
You know how silly she was.

Take care, Suz

Betsy I love all the reds, especially that red lily. In regards to your knee surgery I'm glad it's healing and the pain is almost gone.

I hope you have called your doc about the sickness and fever. He needs to know that.

Wishing you a speedy recovery from the horrid bug. That's the worst thing about hospitals...that's where all the germs hang out!
All your 'reds' today are truly lovely.

The flowers that surround your lovely yard certainly are beautiful to look at.

Hi Betsy, hope you feel better! Love your roses. Double Delight is one of my favorites.

Congratulations on getting the red headed woodpecker. I had one briefly last year but he was just passing thru. The woodpeckers who live close are bringing their 'kids' to the suet feeders. Fun to watch.

Hi Betsy! Did not know you had surgery...guess I am out of the loop :(
I have endured several knee surgeries over the years. Not too bad as far as surgery goes! I think the sitting still...is the worst! Ha!

Yep, there is virus going around. I had it last week. "That sick to my tummy feeling" would not leave.
I am sure you got it at the hospital. A hotbed for "junk"!

Please take care and I will be back to check on you!!
