Waterfalls at Mt. Magazine, AR

Be sure and check yesterday's post (click HERE) if you missed it. Today, I am showing some of the waterfalls we saw on the road up the mountain toward Mt. Magazine. Obviously, there was no hoarfrost here since we weren't high enough in elevation. But--we saw more water coming over the falls than we had seen on several previous trips. Above is Jestice Creek Cascades. George took this gorgeous picture --after he bushwhacked down toward the bottom. More pictures are below!

As you can tell, I stood at the top of the cascades --watching as George hiked down. He took this picture of me ---while I watched him from above!!!

OKAY---since George took my picture, I took his!! You can see where he bushwhacked down to get a great picture --like the one at the top!!!

This beautiful waterfall is named Hardy Falls. I love the way these waterfalls flow down the mountain through all of the rocks. And I enjoy seeing the green moss near the bottom. SO pretty!!!!

This waterfall is named High Falls ---and this time, George had to bushwhack UP the mountain to get a better picture. That is ICE at the bottom of the picture. This falls also 'cascaded' down the mountain. I love the rock formation.

I enjoyed getting up close and personal with Jestice Creek Falls (which was on the other side of the road and above Jestice Creek Cascades pictured at the top).

I took this picture of George standing near the bottom of Hardy Falls. You can tell that the sun was shining brightly here.

Finally, here is a picture of Jestice Creek Falls. As you know, we love all kinds of waterfalls --whether they are big or small. Some of these smaller ones are always favorites for sure, due to the mountain terrain and general area.

Hope you enjoyed seeing some of the Mt. Magazine area waterfalls. We drove to Hendersonville yesterday to check on George's parents... We found them in good spirits although both of them have had winter colds. Mom will be 90 in May and Dad will be 98.

Hope you have a great weekend.
Hugs,

Wow I'm one of the first to comment instead of number 50 for a change. I'm enjoying playing with my new toy, although sometimes I get frustrated.
This area has many lovely waterfalls. George must be fit as a fiddle scampering through the bush. He takes great shots of the falling water. I love the shot of you next to the falls as that epitomises you.....Betsy and waterfalls.

Great pictures of some neat waterfalls! I really like the one cascading down stairsteps of rocks! Blessings to you and George and to Mom and Dad Adams!

Diane and I are thinking alike. I, too, think George must be in pretty good shape to climb down and up to waterfalls. I would be like you, Betsy. I'd stay on more level ground. I like the picture of the first waterfall very much (the picture that George took). I like the picture of you, too, at the waterfall.

I love the crocuses in your new header. As I've said before, George's parents are fortunate to have a DIL like you!

So many wonderful things you are doing and seeing! You are a lucky girl! (Did George have to climb all the way back up that hill? Ha!)

Gosh, how wonderful George's parents are doing well at their ages. Sounds like George has some good genes! :)

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend Betsy! xxoo Catherine

I knew there had to be waterfalls. It is so nice you have George to scramble down the ravines for pictures.
Glad George's parents are doing well though hope those colds leave shortly.

These are all gorgeous waterfall images! I like the contrast of flowing water and green moss with the dry leaves on the ground.

Gorgeous shots, as always, Betsy! I actually like the smaller falls the best---especially the ones with a series of cascades over the stairstep rocks and lichen and moss. Beautiful!

George's parents are remarkable folks---hope they soon recover from their colds. God bless them and God bless you and George for your love and attentiveness.

Beautiful falls. I love the way they are "layered".

Jestice Creek made me smile, I wonder if it was Justice Creek and that is just the way they said it so it ended up Jestice. I can really tell the difference in your photos of waterfalls using your new killer camera. so sharp and clear. the only way I would stand where you are is if i photo shopped me there.

All of the falls are beautiful Betsy, I really like the first one of Jestice Creek Cascades. The way it flows is fascinating.

The photo of you standing at the top of the cascades when George hiked down, is that an old bridge?

Glad to hear George's parents are doing well, I hope they both get over their colds very soon.

Hugs,
Judy

Good news about George's parents. I must say, Hendersonville is the place to live. We liked in and only passed through on our way to Tryon.

Beautiful post. I wish we had some of your waterfalls and also some of your Pileated Woodpeckers.

Oh wow, lovely falls, Betsy! you guys are so brave to hike during winter! Cute how he takes your photo and you took his! Jestise Creek is a beauty!

Good to know your in-laws are doing well!

These waterfalls are rather delicate, and perhaps the prettiest of any of yours I've seen. Kind of a girly-girl fall! It would certainly be more my speed becuase it's tamer and less scary, though still a rather treacherous looking path!

you tell George to be careful climbing up and down those slippery rocks...my goodness! He is going to fall and break something and you won't be able to get out there to take more pix...and we won't have ANY of that!!!
These are wonderful places, so pretty.
Thanks for sharing them with us.

These are just beautiful photos Betsy! I love each of the falls, they are amazing. You are very fortunate to live in an area that has so many delightful sights to see! And how wonderful that George's parents continue to do so well!

Yes Betsy, I hike alone. My husband is not "outdoorsy" and does not like to hike. If I did not go alone, I'd never get out. So far I've never been scared. I usually hike were there are other hikers and I never get off the trail.

I have never been to that part of Arkansas. There are some truly great falls around there. Both of you know how to handle the camera for the best of shots. Great job and post. George is blessed to still have his folks at that age and in good health. My grandparents on my mother's side lived to be 98. I miss them even today.

Those falls look really interesting to me...I especially like Hardy Falls. I don't know why, they all are pretty and I would be happy seeing any of them but for some reason Hardy Falls are the most appealing to me.
