Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

Best of Mt. Nebo, Arkansas

The advantage of having so many different pictures to go through after a week's vacation is that I can usually find some that I REALLY like. The disadvantage is the time that it takes to go through over 800 pictures, categorize them into separate folders, and then pick and choose favorites...

Today, I'm showing you eight of my favorite Mt. Nebo pictures. Above is my favorite sunset picture (taken on Feb 24). I took this picture standing on our back porch at the cabin. Below are more.

We hiked down to see the Mt. Nebo waterfall---and were not disappointed. This is just one of many great pictures --but I like this one because you can see all of the ice and icicles around the falls, in addition to the rocks and path BEHIND the falls. Obviously, we couldn't walk behind the falls this time since there was WAY too much ice.

There were lots of deer on the mountain---and they were almost 'people-friendly'... IF I had have had some corn with me, I think this one would have come all of the way up to the car!

We have many icicle pictures ---but this is one of my fav's... Looks like some of them are 'curly'.... ha

Here's another gorgeous view from our cabin---looking down into the valley (and beyond). We loved that blue-blue-blue sky!!!!

One of the many rock formations all over Mt. Nebo; That looks like King Nebo himself at the top... See him?????? He's smiling!!!

Have you ever seen a "Stick Bug"??????? WELL---let me tell you---they grow them pretty huge up here, don't you think?????? ha ha

Finally, we drove to Sunrise Point about 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 24, and look what we saw!!!! This sunrise was the beginning of a beautiful day!!!! You can see the reflections from the Arkansas River in this picture.

Hope you enjoyed eight of my favorite pictures from Mt. Nebo!!!! If you ever get a chance to visit there, we highly recommend it.

Hugs,

what a beautiful place and view.
it looks like you had a wonderful time. i know exactly what it's like to look at 800 plus photos.
it is time consuming but i love every minute of it. i think i was meant to be a photographer.
you got some great captures on this trip...i see you are loving that new camera.
happy march.

Another set of beautiful shots

It's hard to imagine heaven being better than the beauty you captured!

Isn't digital photography wonderful - no worries about cost and film with extra shots - you just delete and start over.

In the summer when I do the pictures for my youngest' baseball team, I usually shoot about 300 pictures per baseball game and then have to find the best 36 for their website. It's a lot of work - but I love it!

Great shots, betsy. You are giving that new camera a good workout with good results. Love the sunset and sun rise. Great depth of field in the stick bug shot. They look like snakes mating. Looking forward to the next installment. My computer has died. I'm using the master's prized "Apple". We have to buy me a new one now that I've used up all his handmedowns.I would like an "Apple" laptop. Which model do you have or recommend?

Beautiful shots, Betsy! You're really adapting quickly to your new camera---well done. I especially love the sunrise over the river. And the "stick bugs" are really neat. Though I think they look like snakes---maybe two snake tourists looking at the view. (Sounds like something from "Far Side" doesn't it?):-)

Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us, Betsy!

Love the sunrise and the sunset. the scenery is spectacular and your photos are so sharp and clear and bright I feel like I am there. the deer of course would be my favorite because i love all things animal. what a wonderful problem to have to go through 800 photos like these. I can relate, it is a job and time consuming but worth it all for sure.

How brave you and George are to vacation where stick bugs grow to that size! Obviously that one likes the view, too! :) I think your sunrise pic is outstanding. I'd spend my whole time there in a chair out by the view. Wonderful!

Betsy: Outstanding photography my friend, you are just seeing wonderful views on your trip. Love the deer photo. King Nebo is smiling but I only see one eye. Did he have an accident?

Pretty scary about the size of the stick bugs they grow around there!!!! Gorgeous shots, every last one of them! Love the curly icicles, lol!

Have fun going through your pictures. I've got old albums I've always wanted to go through and use the photos in scrapbook projects - I just don't have the motivation - lazy bones that I am.

Blessings and have a great day! It's off to work I go!!!

I live in the Ozarks of Mo, not too far from Mt. Nebo. We're gonna have to go and check it out.
You take wonderful pictures.

Betsy,
When you looked at the hike I posted this morning (which was a hike I did back in Jan. 2009), did you also check out the hike I did yesterday? There were some early wildflowers out on that one.

They are all fantastic photos but I especially liked the icicles photo and the one of the deer. How beautiful the sunrise was, as well as the sunset. Your vacation spot makes me think of a little slice of heaven on earth!!

Gorgeous photos...LOVE that sunrise. I have a softness for old trees, really like your photo of this one, looks like a lizard to me.

Been knitting instead of photographing...except the grandbabies. Can't keep posting grandbabies and knitting, so I just don't post at all.

Just came by for a quick visit, and really enjoyed it.

Oh my ~ love the deer ~ love the curly ice! Wonderful! How come the ice is all curly like that? Or is it the water running down it that makes it look that way ~ I can't tell. I've never seen that before.

So many wonderful things you saw on your trip Betsy ~ you are one lucky gal!

Betsy your new camera took such wonderful, crystal clear photos! What fantastic colors and composition! I'm sure it was very hard to chose just a few photos to show here

Mt. Nebo looks like a beautiful place to visit!

I too can understand why these are some of your favorites. The sunrise and sunset are both spectacular as are the mountain top views. I love the deer. The one in front is checking to see if you have any goodies. The sun is shining but the ice makes it look cold.
