Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

Another SNOW???????? In March??????

Well---most of you know that I am a southern gal who LOVES snow... Until this winter, we hadn't had much snow here since about 2006.. This year though---we have had 4 fairly large snows ---plus several more smaller ones. It has been a dreary, cold, sun-free winter here on the Cumberland Plateau. Our county school system is having to cancel its Spring Break week plus having to add days at the end of the year in order to make up days missed. They built in 11 snow-days into the original schedule--but have missed about 17 or 18 so far this winter. The teachers and students obviously haven't been to school very much since the beginning of January.

Anyhow---believe it or not, you are hearing ME say publicly that I'm TIRED of the snow now--and ready for some sunshine and warmer temperatures. My hubby will definitely write this down since he won't believe that I'm saying it!!!! ha...

Yesterday, we had a nice two-inch snow ---which was one of the prettier ones which clings to everything and is so pretty. SO--here are some pictures of hopefully our LAST snow of this winter (we hope). We drove around yesterday ---so our pictures are not only from our yard, but from around the Fairfield Glade area. Above is another picture of our Confederate Jasmin bush in our yard. I included it again --since I have featured it about 3-4 times this winter!!!! Below are more!

I love seeing the snow cling to the evergreens like this one did. Isn't it pretty?

Wanna play some GOLF??????? This is one of the cart paths!!!!

This bush with the red berries is in our neighbor's yard. I always enjoy seeing the white and red together!!!

This is one of the Glade's many lakes.

More evergreens along our road; Wish you could have been with us on our drive---seeing all of the snow-covered shrubs, trees and bushes. Very pretty!!

I always enjoy seeing the small rocky creeks --with snow surrounding the creek.

Finally, I saved my favorite picture 'til last... I took this picture in order to get the icicles--but after putting it on the computer, I loved seeing the different colored rocks --and the snow-covered branches also.

Okay---are you tired of snow????? ME TOO!!!! Let's hope for some SPRING SOON!!!

Hugs,

I remember that the worst snowstorms in the Chicago area were usually in March, just when it was suppose to be on the uphill side to spring!

I do love your photos, though, even though I don't actually miss the snow!

I am laughing at you Betsy...it does sound a little funny 'you being tired of snow', I can understand why though. Beautiful photos and the berries on the nandina bush pop under the white of the snow...the last photo is great!

I think there is not many shots prettier than snow laying on evergreen branches. I was hoping we'd get a couple of inches to be pretty, but we had just enough to lay on the grass a little.

hey Betsy, How snowy it looks! i love it, i sure wont be the one who complain... what glorious sight these pictures are!

The last picture with icicles is superb!

your were the first one to say that the snow on the evergreens looked like hands and fingers - now I can't help but see that in the trees when I look at them.

Just think how much more you will appreciate spring when it finally comes after a trying winter - at least that is what we always tell ourselves up here.

The first time everything looks so green (tiny buds on trees -grass) I just want to stand on the roof top and shout! cause it is so welcome and beautiful.

We have had traces of snow here in May - I think it was 1988 when we had almost 8" in May - So we always look to Memorial Day as our safe - no more snow till (October) time!

And the flakes were ginormous too! We got probably 3" down here Betsy. I am so very tired of it. IwantspringIwantspringIwantspring!!!

More snow?!?! GAAAKK! Betsy ~ is spring ever going to get here? We had lots of snow melt here the last few days; water running down the street, brown grass visiable underneath my big tree...no more snow here please.

You did good ~ I started being tired of snow in December! :)

Have a most lovely day Betsy!

I know that you are sick of snow but these sure are purdy....ours (all three feet of it) has melted at long last.

Beth said...

Those pictures are so pretty, Betsy! We got 7-8 inches here. *Sigh* Seems like we have at least one snowfall every week...and I am so, so tired of it. I need to see blue skies, bright sun, and little green shoots coming from the ground. Our crocuses aren't even blooming yet! By the way, I love your header.

Your pictures are gorgeous as always, Betsy. I enjoy the ride around the glade and seeing all of the beauty that surrounds you.
Thanks again for the snow filled journey.

Very pretty!! We have snow for about six months of the year and sometimes seven but I rarely get fed up with it. Just the thaw is a slushy mess and as it thaws, I have to get out and pick up a winters worth of dog poop!!! In the summer I pick it up daily but can't when it's frozen!!

Snap said...

George!!! Did you hear that?! We heard it, too! Betsy, you are too funny! Lovely shots.

That last picture is my favorite too! I, too, like having those snowfalls where the snow clings to tree branches. It creates a winter wonderland, and is so pretty to look at. Up here in NW Pennsylvania the weather is looking better for the weekend. We might see some sunshine.

You just had to do it didn't you....post pictures of snow when I was beginning to think spring was on it's way. :) Those are pretty. However, I like your header picture better. :)

Oh no, I can't believe my fellow snow lover has gone to the dark side. It is so lovely, how could you turn !!!
Well, with your desertion, that leaves just a few of us left in the snow lover catagory.
Our current warm up here will saddening me till the first blooms appear. Then life will be good again.

Can't believe I just read that, lol!
I love the snow too --- until Christmas! Then I just want to get outta here, outta here, outta here!!! The left over snow right now is FILTHY! A little new covering would look nice. I'm sure that up north here, we're just not done yet. We're in a fog today. Can hardly see across the street! Hope it clears up soon and spring can come!
Hugs!

I am ready for SPRING too!Yesterday's snow was pretty, it didn't last long here in the valley. The mountain tops around town still had snow this morning. It was really pretty wish I had carried my camera with me this morning.

Lovely pics, Betsy, and even though we've had very little snow here this year, I'm with you wishing for spring. It's time!

These pics are beautiful Betsy. The one with the red berries is really pretty. Glad ya'll were able to get out and get some pics.

Truthfully I am glad we didn't get any more snow. I am so ready for warmer weather.

They're all so pretty, Betsy!

The Farmer's Almanac says we'll have snow the last 2 days of March, but we'll see.

Hi Betsy, yes I believe it because it snowed here for about 4 hours on Monday! And today it's sunny and a high of 60, go figure!

Like you, I never thought I'd say it, but enough already with the snow now! Great piccies.

Lisa said...

Hello Betsy, how are you.

Your pictures are amazing. Maybe the snow is really enjoying being photographed.

No snow here but it's been too darn cold to enjoy life. I love your snow pictures. The first one at first glace looks like a cotton plant.

Glenda said...

Love these snow pics. I, too, thought that the first pic looks like cotton! So pretty! Aren't the icicles gorgeous? I saw those for the first time when we came through TN in January. They certainly are photogenic!

Betsy, I see you got some of what I call 'Warm Snow'. It's the best kind when it's sticky enough to build a snowman, but the worse kind to shovel. Heavy!!! and Dangerous if it gets to the point of broken branches and powerlines. Enjoy it while it lasts. There usually is not much moisture in the snow but you have the good kind for your ground.
We are supposed to reach the 40's for the next several days. Bring on the heat wave., but we hope for rain too.
God Bless Your Day

A dusting of snow here today too, and oh so pretty.
Love, love, love the pcitures on the golf course (which I have been on ), and my favorite the last one.....spectactular, you should enter it in the County fair !
Enjoy, it may be our last for this year at least.

Good morning, Betsy. You got some lovely photos. The snow does look pretty on evergreens and with those red berries.

I'm heartily sick of the white stuff too:) Right now we are having a heat wave, temperatures in the 40's and sunshine. I'm sure winter still has some nasty stuff instore for us, but right now I'm enjoying our preview of spring.

Well Betsy I am tired of snow also but I don't think we've seen the last of it quite yet!! We got 7" over in southern NC and it was the most beautiful snow we've had this year. Have a blessed day,

Love those last two pictures Betsy and especially the last one. Your right, the colors of the rocks etc ... beautiful.

Well we can't say we are tired of snow, we hardly got any this year and didn't even get to xcountry ski! But regardless, by this time of year I get itching to see the snow go though D would beg to differ.

Every time we get yet another big snow, I think to myself, "I hope Betsy is satisfied." All winter I have blamed our snow on your desperate wish for more. I'm so glad you have stopped wishing. At least this one is being followed by warmer weather and will (hopefully) be gone soon.

Katherine Roberts Aucoin said...

Beautiful snow shots! We received decent scoverage in the morning then it melted and was a wet mess. Bet March will go out like a lamb!

Jen said...

YOU? tired of SNOW? Okay we will remember this one. ha.

I'm just tired of the gray skies--Need some sun!!!
Your pictures are great however-the berry bush would make a lovely Christmas card.

Ginny Hartzler said...

Just a lovely overall view of your area! I must say my favorites are the berries and the mama and baby evergreen! It's STILL snowing here today!!! Some of our worst snows have been in March! March is certainly NOT spring weather, I don't know why spring is in March. Spring should start in April.

Cheryl said...

I think you have received most of the snow that was "supposed" to hit us here in Maine! The photos are amazing and I loved the creek photo and the icey rocks the best. The bush with the red berries is beautiful as well. Meanwhile I sit here looking out at bare, brown ground!

This AL girl has seen WAY more snow this year than her whole life growing up in AL. I am with you! I am TIRED OF SNOW!!!!! Bring on the summer!

MadSnapper said...

me thinks you just might have a problem finding your golf ball in that one photo, but maybe bright green ones might work. Loe the christmas tree decorated with snow. and i can't believe you said you are tired of the snow. I don't want summer, just spring. Summer means 90's and up and I like cold better than hot

Hi Betsy!

Your snow photos are all gorgeous! When it snows where I am there is nothing pretty to show..lol Just sidewalks and snow covered cars..blah.

Luckily, we had a lot of sun and our 19 inches melted quickly and today we got rain, instead of more snow.

Spring will be arriving in your neck of the woods soon...hang on!

Betsy: You are certainly right, I'm also done with snow. Needless to say your photos are beautiful and made my day. We have had no snow so far in March.

Hi Betsy, I can't believe you are fed up of snow. Ha! Ha!. I certainly am and can't wait for Spring to arrive. Having said that, your pictures today are so pretty. I love the red berries against the snow and, like you, I love the rocks and icicles in the last one, Super.

I does not matter the subject, you and George make some of the pictures on any blog. I truly enjoy seeing each day what you will share next. Those are very pretty snow scenes, but I do not want to see anymore.

Rose said...

I will admit I am tired of cold, dark, dreary weather also. But you know, photos like these make it worth it though. I really like the one of the golf cart path.

JLS Hall (Joysweb) said...

Those are gorgeous shots. But I've been tired of the snow since the first flake hit the ground months ago! Of course, snow has never been one of my favorite things. Last year, we had one of our biggest snow storms in March, as I recall - and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't repeat this year. Definitely ready for some sun and warmer weather.

pam said...

We used 1/2 a snow day yesterday, but we still have 3 left. So, I would be okay with one more little snow!

The Retired One said...

Oh Bets, my favorite photos were the first one with the snow on the bush that looked like tufts of cotton, the bush with the red berries full of snow and the river! Just gorgeous.
The rocks of icicles are great too!
I can see you are lovin' your new camera and having so much fun with it.
I love it when nature gives you gifts like this to photograph, don't you?

Diane said...

You? Tired of snow Betsy? I love your pretty pictures, especially the snow on the bush with red berries. If it makes you feel better we never believe the snow is gone for the winter until about the 20th of May around here.

Hello and welcome back, Betsy! Love all your snow photos, but my favorite is the frozen water from the fountain. Very creative. It's lovely!

Yes,I too am ready for the snow to leave, but as your pictures show,it is very beautiful. As a school bus driver,I can only wish we had that many days of school closures, guess we are too used to the snow to cancel easily.

I know living here in western NY I say the same thing about this time of year. Enough snow and dreary days. You've captured what I love about winter and snow... it's serene beauty... like a soft blanket covering the ground and trees... there is a quiet that surrounds you on days such as your photos show... I too however am wishing for the sunny days of spring! Blessings to you and yours. Stay warm! Love and Light, Nina P

I'm with you on the snow. Love it, but now tired of it.

I'm new to your blog and wasn't sure where you lived in Tennessee but as soon as I saw the picture of the Cumberland, I knew. We were on vacation a couple of years ago and visited Ft. Donelson on the Cumberland River and I thought it was the most beautiful river I had ever seen. I'm from the Ozarks in Missouri and we have a lot of waterways here but the Cumberland was absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures.

Hello Betsy,

I love that last picture!

I think we read that Sevier cty has used 12 out of 13 snow days..probably all out now as of yesterday's snow. They are discussing how they will make up all those days. I'd hate to be a teacher and have the school year strung out several more weeks.

Stay warm..Springtime is coming [I think]..haha

Hugs,
Stephanie

Oh I love your photos-especially the one of the golf course : ) I love snow-but I've had enough for this winter. The kids are going to be going to school all summer-they've missed so many days. 2hour delay this morning-but at least they'll get the rest of the day in.
