Christmas Bird Ornaments

Yesterday, I showed you just a few of George's and my ornaments that we have given each other through the years. I saved my favorites until now to share with you... As most of you know, I am a fairly new 'birder'... We had hummingbirds first --and then the Bluebirds came and nested in our backyard. That SOLD me.... Since then, I have loved every minute of seeing and feeding our backyard birds.

SO---last Christmas, George surprised me with some gorgeous bird ornaments. He couldn't have given me anything that would have been more special to me. Today, I share my sweet little bird ornaments with you.

The picture above is the only bird ornament I had before last Christmas. George gave me a gorgeous GLASS hummingbird several years ago. The picture isn't great, since I put the hummingbird in front of a candle which caught some of the camera flash. But you can get the idea of what this fragile little hummer looks like. He is gorgeous. Below are the ones from last year.

This little birdie is my new hummingbird.. He is much larger than the little glass one above.

I love this ornament. It is a little bluebird house with bluebirds sitting around it. Isn't that just beautiful????

This beauty is another of my favorite backyard birds, the Cardinal. Isn't he gorgeous sitting in our tree?

George took all kinds of pictures of me while I opened these ornaments last Christmas... Can you tell how happy I was?????? (Just a little! ha)

Right above the Bluebird house is a beautiful Goldfinch. I have many, many Goldfinches this year ---so this little bird is another of my fav's. (Note another of our special ornaments which I didn't feature yesterday: the little lovey-dovey couple in the top right of the picture!!!)

This was one happy gal----looking at that Goldfinch, don't you think??? I still smile when I see the bird ornaments on our tree.

Finally, here's a picture showing three of the four bird ornaments: Goldfinch, Bluebirds and Cardinal. I hope you enjoyed seeing my 'birdie' ornaments!!!!

What is/are your very favorite ornament(s)?????

Hugs,

P.S. We drove to Hendersonville yesterday to see George's parents and take them out for an early Christmas Dinner at Mimi's Cafe. They are doing fine and will be with George's sister on Christmas Day. All of the family put a monetary gift to missions in their church in their honor for Christmas. Dad said that that gift made him so happy that he almost cried. God Bless this wonderful couple.

That is so sweet to have ornaments of the birds that visit your yard. I must admit some of my favourite ornaments are of Australian birds, the kookaburra and the galah.
I love your header. your tree and house look splendid just like a Christmas card.

I love bird ornaments too but I mostly have Cardinals. Mostly because I have never seen one in real life as we don't have them here and I like the RED color.

Bless George's parents.

Good morning Betsy. I love your bird ornaments. I hardly ever see any around here. I do have a couple butterfly ornaments and one collie--he's my favorite.

What a neat post! My grandmother loved birds. She always had a canary or lovebirds in her house, but she also had some beuatiful old glass bird tree ornaments on her Christmas Tree. I have had those ornaments on my tree for quite a few years, and they are such treasures to me. However, a few years ago when I was going through a box or old ornaments, I found a box on which she had written "ornaments from Della's (her first baby) first Christmas. Inside were some tiny red and clear glass birds. They are only a couple of inches long. They now also have a very special place on my tree, and they always hold very special memories of her.

Thank you for the memories your post brought back to me.

May God bless you and your family with His Presence and His Peace during this Christmas time.

Such a cute idea for a theme on your Christmas tree!

really like all those cute birds and your TREE headliner is beautiful. Also like that cute necklace you have on and of course the Big Smile.
I don't collect ornaments, but I still have the 1944 glass beads garland that my mother put on my first Christmas tree. Also the ugly little beat up tiptoe Santa i bought for my son's first Christmas in 1965. the only ornaments that survived from the past.

It looks like you are having so much fun getting ready for Christmas Betsy! We haven't started yet ... today we MUST, MUST decorate as company comes tonight.

So glad you had a good pre-Christmas with George's folk. I'm glad they have somewhere to go for Christmas. I wish my Mom did but we did our pre-Christmas thing with her so it will just have to do.

You have some very pretty bird ornaments. George is so sweet and thoughtful, but then you know that!

My mom loves cardinals and decorates her tree with cardinals and white doves. It is very pretty to look at.

I used to have and maybe I still do somewhere...an ornament I bought in Toronto that was a small gumball stand machine. I've never been a gum chewer, but for some reason I really liked that ornament.
