Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

To Go or Not to Go.......????

My gorgeous Texas granddaughter (I'll call her "B") is a Sophomore in high school this year, which is very hard for this Grammy to believe. It only seems like a few years ago when she was running around in diapers.... Mercy Me!!!!

Anyhow, I got an email from my daughter-in-law yesterday tell me that "B" had gotten a very interesting invitation to this year's Homecoming Dance at her school. Seems that her boyfriend ("R") made a huge sign and hung it up at their school ---asking her if she would go to Homecoming with him... Smart guy!!!! I'm sure that after he went to that much effort, "B" just HAD to say YES--since she didn't want to hurt his feelings. (HA HA HA-----She did say YES---but I'm sure she would have, no matter how he would have asked her.)

Isn't that a creative way to ask a young lady to a dance????? I just wanted to share this with you... Below is the picture of the two of them ---and the big sign... Neat, huh????

Above is a picture of my gorgeous granddaughter, "B", taken last year when she was all dressed up for the dance. I cannot wait to see pictures of her all dressed up this year ---since, believe it or not, this girl gets more and more beautiful with each passing day....

Congrats to "R" for being so creative, and congrats to "B" for getting such a terrific invitation to the big dance. Back in my day (many moons ago), we had proms ---but I never got an invitation like "B" did.... Did you?????

Taken in spring of 1960---wonder who this young gal is?????? (I was all dressed up for the Senior Prom!)

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Hugs,

Clever boy R is but he may have started something. If they continue, each stunt will have to out do the last. Hope he has a big bag of tricks.
Lovely girl, clever fellow, what is not to love.
My prom dates were not very original.

My daughters got all manners of creative invitations to dances, but back in my day we didn't do that either. I think today's way looks like more fun! Your granddaughter is beautiful and you are obviously quite proud of her, as is right and natural.

Hope they have a ball.
I didn't get to go to my prom. Did get to go to a Deem a Lay dance once. That was nice.

What a beautiful granddaughter you have!!! I can't wait to see her pics this year. R is a keeper alright. What a fun way to ask B to the dance? No, I never had an invitation like that. In fact, I didn't even have a date for my high school prom. I had to be "matched up" with somebody, because in those days, we didn't go single. Today, apparently some of them do.

Ooo la la - what a knockout, Betsy, you look like the queen of the prom!!

Kelly said...

Ahhh....how exciting for them, and your granddaughter is gorgeous! I like the photo of you in your prom dress as well.

Wow, that's an incredible way to be asked out to the prom! I hope they will have a splendid time together. Your granddaughter is a beauty, and I can see where it comes from. Beautiful prom photo of you! Hugs and love :)

Betsy,
Your prom dress looks more like a wedding dress... how times have changed. And, yes, it sure does fly. First with our own children then with our grandchildren... it is hard to believe.

Your Granddaughter is beautiful and it's good to see her boyfriend going to some trouble to woo her... a lost art it seems. Good for her.

Your granddaughter is very pretty. But hey! She has inherited some great genes from her grandmother!

Both you and your granddaughter are awfully cute. Her date found a fun way to ask her out.
My kids all went to high school in Utah and the custom is to have elaborate "asks" and "answers," and no two were ever the same. The kids had a lot of fun with it.
