Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

September in the Glade

As anyone who lives in Tennessee will tell you, we have had nothing but RAIN for the past three days---with more on the way. I'm not really complaining though since this is the first year in about three that we haven't had (or almost had) a drought. Hopefully, with all of this rain, that will mean that we will have a wonderful Autumn--with lots of pretty colors.

This past Monday--after George mowed, I took a bunch of pictures in our front yard ---since everything looked so pretty, especially our roses. I'm so glad that I did take all of those pictures then because at the time, we had no idea we were in for THIS much rain this week. SO---in honor of all of our rain (and hopefully some sunshine soon), today's blog will feature our roses and pretty yard. All pictures were taken on September 14. Above is our pretty Autumn Joy Sedum--which is now a beautiful shade of dusty rose. Below are more!

Here's looking up the driveway toward the house--at our roses.

This is taken from the other direction---standing near the garage, and taking the picture across the front yard--toward our beautiful dogwood tree (which is turning red). Note the roses here also.

Above is a close-up of some of our roses --along the driveway.

Isn't this Autumn Joy Sedum just gorgeous? The bees and butterflies love it!

I took this picture not only of the roses in this bed, but also to show you our Confederate Jasmine bush in the background (which blooms from late spring through fall).

For those of you who may be fairly new to my blog, we have about 50 different rose bushes. Most are hybrid tea roses, but some are grandiflora roses.

Here's a close-up of our beautiful pink dogwood. This is one of the first signs of Fall in our area. The dogwoods turn RED. Pretty, huh?

Here's a close up of Tahitian Sunset rosebuds and blossoms. Like so many of our roses, these start out one color as buds--and change colors as they age. The white rose is named Whisper.

Here's one more picture of our Autumn Joy Sedum. I can't get enough of these this time of year.

This is one of my favorites of the roses---showing the ones on the driveway in addition to the bed. We have them in pots along our driveway since roses need sun--and our yard is very shady overall. The driveway is sunny --and the roses seem to do well in big pots.

Finally, here is a picture of our beautiful little home in Fairfield Glade, TN. Come and see us anytime!!!!! We'll put you to work in the garden!

Hugs,

What a beautiful home and garden and I would love to visit and work in the garden but oh so far away.
The roses are glorious and the Autum Joy Sedum is a beautiful colour. I have not seen this plant before nor have I heard of a Dogwood tree. Blogging is good for one's education.

You surely do have a pretty little home all nestled up in so much greenery. That is exactly how I would love to have my home when I get one. Not a lot of concrete but just lots of trees, flowers and all kinds of growing things!!
I wish I could come and see you guys but who knows, never say never!
A beautiful post!!

Hugs and kisses♥

Beautiful is an understatement!! Love all of it Betsy....our Dogwoods are showing a hint of Autumn, aren't they beautiful?

We have had 24/3 rain here also(I have captured over 10 inches in the rain gauge). Was beginning to wish I had more than a kayak and neutered pets.
Our leaves aren't changing yet. Love your dogwood's new clothes.
Your landscaper does excellent work.

The yard looks beautiful and happy. Rain is much better than drought...just ask the plants.

Such beauty abounds in your yard Betsy. How nice it would be to look out and see all those roses every day.

Regarding our trip to the beach, we go to the gulf coast. We went to Destin, FL this year. It only takes about 6 hours to get there. We have gone to Gulf Shores, AL which only takes about 4.5 hours.

Send some rain up this way. We haven't had any in more than three weeks.

Lovely roses. Lots of work keeping them in pots.

Our dogwoods have not turned yet here in Ga. I am worried that we may not have much color. Leaves were falling yesterday but they hadn't turned yet.

Your place looks so good! And it shows how much work you 2 have put in it. Great Job!

You have a beautiful home Betsy, and what a beautiful yard with all those georgeous flowers.

Haha, I caught that little comment about putting someone to work in the garden! It's so much work but it sure is beautiful. I just want to sniff everything (when it stops raining.)

I love that sedum. Ours is more of a rust color, not nearly as pretty as yours!!

My goodness, the flowers are so pretty, Betsy & the trees turning colors are too! I just saw the 1st changing colors yesterday.

Your yard is so beautiful, Betsy. I especially love the dogwood and sedum--such lovely colors. Well, I'd come help you work in your garden except for the fact that I have so much to do in my own! It's been a constant battle with weeds this year...and the weeds have won. :-)

What a lovely home you have,... I always like the shots of the house with the diagonal siding.

Betsy,
Your home is just lovely and your roses are amazing. Backing out of your driveway could be fun with all the roses in pots!
Enjoy your day.

Your home and garden seem perfectly suited to you and George. I'd love to catch the scent of all those blooming roses!

What a beautiful setting! I think it is amazing what you have done considering all the shade. I think you have had more rain down there than we have up here because even my sedum is hardly blooming compared to other years. Yet it has been a beautiful summer and the grass, etc., really has not dried out. I love being able to see your roses.....now if you could just send a little of the fragrance via the internet...

Have a great day!

I know what you mean about the rain :( I think we have had about 10 minutes of sunshine in the last week, and that was only because a cloud rained itself out and let in some light! LOL

The roses are beautiful, and the sedum is a true joy to behold! Gardening Daughter gave me a "start" of Autumn Sedum from cutting from her yard. I haven't checked on them this week because of the rain; I hope they are not washed out.

Wising you a wonderful weekend!

Hugs, Pat

I love coming here to visit in your garden!! It's my garden I miss the most from all the houses we've lived in! Living on the 9th floor now I have to live vicariously through others and play Farm Town on facebook to get my gardening fix, lol! Thanks for taking the time to share the pics with us! Gorgeous!

If George has any spare time, can you send him over to work in MY gardens? Oh, please send rain too. After a very wet summer we are now experiencing an extremely dry September. What's up with the weather?

Betsy your roses are so beautiful. The only other place I have seen so many different and beautiful is at Bellingrath Gardens here in Mobile.

I would love to come visit. I work too.

Hope you and George have a great weekend.

Everything looks like it gets a lot of love.

Betsy, I am so glad George sent me the other blogs you two share. I have truly enjoyed seeing your roses through his eyes, but you have outdone him. You have a lovely home and rose garden. I enjoyed your post very much and will be back.

Your yard is so beautiful, I love all the roses.

Your Autumn Joy is turning the most beautiful shade of pink, mine is still about three shades lighter but the bees still love it. And like you I just can't get enough of it, I've been taking photos of it for a week now.

Hugs,
Judy

I don't mind the rain much either but its kinda hard to get our work done. Last year the leaves didn't change colors because we had so little rain. Just turned brown and fell off the trees. LOL don't think we will have that problem this year. Beautiful shots of your roses.
