Our Special Saturday Brunch

My friends and family will tell you that George and I LOVE omelets. When we first met, we ate breakfast/brunch sometimes at the I-Hop. They have good omelets. One time, after a trip to the I-Hop, we just decided to try to make them ourselves. I'll admit that George is the maker and I'm the helper!!!! He has that special touch when it comes to flipping them, although now we use a special pan --where you flip the pan and not the omelet itself!! OH---how good these omelets are!!!!!

He makes my omelet as a veggie omelet (with a blend of peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc.). AND--He uses the 2% cheese on mine. His is more of a 'manly' omelet --with the veggies but also with some ham and sausage and regular cheese. To put it mildly, these omelets are FANTASTIC!!!!

Our routine is to have omelets on the deck (weather permitting of course) on Saturday mornings about 10 a.m. During the winter we eat them by the fireplace. We also like to have them on special holidays, etc. Omelets are a BIG tradition in our lives now. AND--neither of us ate omelets much before we met!!!! Needless to say, we don't go to the I-Hop anymore for our omelets. (I didn't take a picture of our omelets --so the picture above is from the internet. Ours are actually better than the one in the picture.) Wanna come and try them sometime for yourself????

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
After our 3-day rains this week (about 3 inches total we think), George took some pictures of some new roses in bloom and of our Impatiens. It seems as if everything in the yard said 'thanks' for all of the rain!!!!

BRIGADOON

GEMINI

GRANADA

The Impatiens under the Redbud tree were slow to grow this summer---but now are showing off for us!!!! They will bloom until the first frost.

Have a wonderful Saturday!!!

Hugs,

This looks yummy. I love breakfast on the weekends. It just seems like there's more time since you don't have to rush off to work. I heard that iHop puts some of their pancake batter in their omlets! I wonder if that's true??? Have a great day & enjoy breakfast!

Mmmm...those omelets sound wonderful, Betsy! I make omelets for Tom, too. His favorite involves mushrooms sauteed in butter, then added with cheddar cheese to the omelet. Yum.

I have a sudden urge to go make an omelet. :-) Have a great weekend! And enjoy those omelets.

P.S. Your flowers are lovely. Thank God for all this rain!

Mmmm, you are making me hungry! I've never tried to make an omelet myself, and thinking maybe I should start. YUM!

Your flowers are gorgeous! I love the sedum shot from yesterday. All that rain is making your garden lush. And now... here's hoping you have some sunny skies this weekend.

I love the veggie omeletes myself!!! yummy

I am jealous you still have impatiens...mine pooped out about 3 months ago with the heat/sun!!!

We love omelets as well. I like the veggie (no peppers), but my husband wants ham and cheese. I have an omelet pan, but it's not one of the ones you flip...I have to fold the omelet myself. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Can't believe your impatiens is still going strong.

Janice K said...

Impatiens do indeed need water to hold up their pretty little heads, but it looks like the roses really liked that big gulp of water too.

Those omelets remind me that I haven't had breakfast yet!

Wonderful pictures of your roses. That first one is perfect! We like omelets, and make them sometimes. If Jeep and I are ever back in your area, we will meet you for omelets at IHOP.

I love omelets and I love breakfast ... it makes good lunch and dinner!

Love the Gemini Rose (but then I'm a Gemini) and the impatiens are lovely. Amazing what a little rain will do!

Vol Fan is the omelet maker in this house. As well as the quesadilla maker!

Way to go flipping the pan. Doesn't make them taste better but it sure looks cool.
Haven't made one in a long time, think a nice rainy day like today will be a good day to try one. Thanks.
I have emptied a total of 10 inches out of my rain gauge this week. Today is working on 11 inches.
Some of my flowers have just given up and drowned.Still after experiencing droughts, I never complain about rain.
Enjoy your weekend.

Yum! I would like an omelet too, please. And then I'd love to sit on your deck and admire the gorgeous roses and watch all your birds. That's the life!

I'll be right there! Wouldn't that be fun - just to be able to transport ourselves! Oh well! Hubby is the toast and coffee man except when we're on the road traveling; then he'll have a big breaky. I'm a bowl of porride with ground flax person. But, we love an omelet for a simple supper! And even should an omelet fall apart on occasion - it's still delicious!!
Your photos of the last roses of summer are fantastic!

Good food and beautiful roses! Sounds like a wonderful place to B&B :) Your enthusiasm is contagious Betsy - thank you!

Hi Betsy, I seem to have missed a day or two on your blog. Last night I checked your blog--11:00PM my time---and Thursday was still up--but obviously not for real. Anyway, your Friday shots are beautiful.
As for Omeletts--I'm not a real big fan but they always sound so yummy. Maybe it is the atmosphere, you know, being with the one you love. LOL

As for trains: I had never been on a train until I took the Amtrac from Seattle to Portland for the job I had. This was about 8 years ago. I was so disappointed with Amtrac. I grew up on the old movies on TV that showed trains with all the luxurious accommadations. Amtrac is like a speeding bus with a coffee bar and nothing else. Not even fancy seats. Oh well--live and learn.
So anyway hop aboard and come on out. Of course Ms. P. could do the job too. MB

Beautiful roses, Betsy (and George)... rain like that is usually very welcomed by the garden.

That omelet you order up sounds really good. Veggie omelets are my preference as well... only I add spinach, shallots, a little garlic, tomatoes and salsa. Mr. Meems eats the one with bacon or ham. I can fix up a pretty mean omelet. But I might need to find out about that pan that does the flip... sounds like a sure thing.

Enjoy your weekend, Miss Betsy!(Oh, I like your new profile pic- very cute!)

My husband is an omelet guy too. He loves them ~ 3 eggs.
He likes them loaded up too. I make them for him occasionally.
The Impatients look so pretty. I don't know why I have the hardest time growing those. They are suppose to be easy.

Betsy: Now that is cheating showing a fake omelet, I demand a real one if I stop by.
Your roses are outstanding. Mine are going crazy right now.

Okie dokie .. better get cooking, you have a LOT of company comin' my friend.

My impatiens played the 'slow grow' & now that the first frost is just around the bend they are showing off big time, so for that I am grateful. I was so disappointed as I put prob 550+ in the ground this year.

Have a great weekend. TTFN ~ Marydon

We love omelets too! Sometimes I make frittata for dinner with all kinds of various fillings! It's simply delicious comfort food! Amazing Roses as always. We are cooling off and growth is slowing here in Mi. I'll have to get my flower fix from your blog!

Your roses are gorgeous Betsy and so are your impatiens. And those Omelette's, I'll be by next weekend okay? Ha! Ha! Guess what we had for supper last night? An omelet! I need that pan you talked about as I have a hard time getting mine out of the pan in one piece. Gregg's the scrambled eggs maker in our house, he makes them much better than I do.

Hi, Betsy!
the roses are beautiful...and as for omelets. Roger is the omelet maker in our house. I usually have the manly version myself...minus the cheese.

He also makes what we call scrapple, which is basically an omelet all scrambled together. Only he also fries a few potatoes and puts in with the eggs, meat(s) of choice, bell pepper, onions, etc. It is delicious!

Lola said...

Love those omelets. Son & I have them sometimes for dinner. He usually has plain cheese.
Roses are gorgeous. Seems like they liked that drink they got.
I too like your new profile.

I like omelets also. I got one while in the hospital....of course they could screw up a piece of lettuce so the omelet was horrible.

I love omelets too. There's a place not far from here called the Harbor House that makes WONDERFUL omelets and I usually share on with my sister (when she's in town) or take half home. When I go to IHOP I get Harvest pancakes ... just because ;--)

I'm jealous of your rain ... and your roses, but delighted that you share photos for us to enjoy virtually.

Hugs and blessings,

If I only lived closer I would be right over for an omelet. The photos of the roses are just gorgeous, what pretty shades of pink. The impatiens are very plentiful looking as well. We hiked to a small waterfall today on a day trip, I thought of you and George! Will post photos on my blog later. Have a wonderful weekend.

I like omelets, too! So SURE, I'll be at your house next Saturday at 10qm. ;-) (Sure wish I really could!)

I'm a big flap jack fan, Betsy. Perkins are my favorite. Or is IHOP better?

Well, I'm sorry to report that I settled for a pop tart for breakfast this morning. (I know-YUK! I was in the middle of an organizing frenzy and didn't want to stop to cook something.) Omelets will be on the menu sometime this week, though. Blessings!

Omelets and roses, sounds good to me. Get the pan on the stove, I'm on my way.

The Impatiens around the tree are so colorful and pretty. I love the shot of the Granada rose bud, the little water drops just sparkle.

Have a great day,
Judy

Mmmmm.... that is making me mighty hungry for one about now Betsy! I like an omelet occasionally too.

We got 3" of rain YESTERDAY from 9-3! More on the way today... whew.

Michele said...

I love eggs as well... I enjoy mostly scrambled eggs... I can eat scrambled eggs day and night but omelets are terrific as long as they are vegetarian style, of course. I just don't do the meat.

Your roses are amazing. My husband came home with a single red rose a couple days ago and it still sits here by my computer looking as beautiful as ever...

Take care.

Hugs and kisses♥

Nothing beats an omelet for a quick, hearty breakfast. We use veggies left over from dinner--prechopped and ready to go.

Love your roses. I planted a few shrub roses this summer, but I'm not brave enough to plant hybrids.

Beautiful flowers, Betsy. And now you've gone and made me hungry with that first picture. Yummy! Happy Sunday to you! :D
