Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

Waiting Impatiently

Here on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee, we've enjoyed several days of very cool, almost Fall-like weather. I even had my sweatshirt on for a couple of days!!!!! I almost asked George to build us a fire in the fireplace---but I decided to wait a little longer before we do that (although I love having a roaring fire in the fireplace).

ANYHOW----all of that being said, our cooler days seem to be OVER now... BUT---that just makes me want to see Fall even more!!!!! I'm not a very patient person ----so I decided to show you why I'm so excited to see Fall come sooner rather than later!!! Enjoy our Fall (from a previous year) here in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee. I can only hope that our colors will be as pretty or prettier this Fall!

This picture was taken from the golf course fairway near our home.

Another view from the cartpath on the golf course near our home

A view across one of the many lakes here in Fairfield Glade; Aren't the Fall colors gorgeous????

The Lutheran Church steeple surrounded by color

This is my favorite tree in our yard--since I love red trees!!!!

Same tree in our front yard--from the other side

This picture is taken from the front yard---looking toward the back

This is our backyard. Now do you see why I'm READY for Fall???? I love it --and it cannot get here soon enough for me (even though I will have TONS of raking to do for 2-3 months).

Hugs,

Very nice shots Betsy. You know last year around here the leaves didn't turn their usual bright colors. It stayed way to warm and dry so the leaves just turned brown.

Autumn is my favorite time of the year too Betsy. I always look forward to the colorful display of leaves and being able to work in the garden without the terrible heat/humidity.

I love fall, also....just something about it. It could last 6 months and I wouldn't mind.

Lovely pictures, Betsy. I love fall, too, and am eagerly anticipating it this year. I feel so energetic and frisky in the fall with the cooler temperatures. By the way, I love the name of the place you live---Fairfield Glade. It really lives up to its name!

I love Fall, too. I can hardly wait for it to arrive each year. I hope we get to go back to the Smokies this year. The color has been perfectly eye-popping up there for the past two years!

Beautiful fall photos. That must be a challenging golf course with all those hills.

Fairfield Glade isn't too far from Sparta where many of my ancestors lived for more than a century. Some may still live there but I don't know them;)

I love the fall colors too. I am excited about this fall. We are headed to New England at the end of September for a wedding. I hoping to see some glorious fall foliage!

I love the fall too. I am anxious to get some pictures up here in the mountains.

The worst part of fall (besides all the raking), is winter is next. I'm not crazy about snow and ice. Well, it makes for nice photos!

Have a great day.
Sunny :)

OBetsy, as much as I love Autumn---let's not push it. The Vine Maples here are already turning gorgeous red--as they always do in August. We have had such an unusual hot and dry Summer but I am still not ready for RAIN. Our summer usually is more august September and then Indian Summer in October but we have been having Summer since May and while I know we need rain but as I said before I am not ready for it.
Your trees are gorgeous though.

Happy days, MB

I'm w/ ya, Betsy! Hallelujah! I'm ready for Fall & I'm ready to get rid of these HOT temps!

Gorgeous shots! We experienced fantastic falls like that too during our years in New England. We did take pictures, but somehow the pics just never did the colors justice. Maybe it was the old cameras and films. We have more green and yellow golds up here with very few reds in between. Love the fall, probably more than any other season! Love winter too, but wish it was shorter - much shorter up here!!!

Enjoyed your piano recital story too and the pictures of all the well-dressed students!

Me too on Fall. Love the cool. Great shots and we also had a rather brown fall last year. Hopefully this year will dazzle us.
Raking is good for the waist line and those flappy arms. The smell of burning leaves is wonderful.
Oh oh, I'm getting the fever.

Its nice to see some color coming into the trees already.
We are so hot I can't even imagine it being that cool...
Thanks for visiting, Betsy.
Your blog is always such a pleasure to visit, I love seeing the mountains :)

Beautiful fall colors, I see why you're looking forward to fall. I love that red tree in your yard and the one by the church steeple. In my area most of the foliage doesn't change color, but I will enjoy cooler temps in the fall. :)

I love the fall colors. As you know, we don't get much of a fall here. Ah, well. I'll enjoy yours through pictures!

Good morning Betsy. Love the fall pictures.

I have made reservations at Serenity Falls and can't wait to see this waterfall in person. I will be looking for others as well.

Hey Betsy we too have been enjoying Fall like temps. It does make one yearn for Fall that much more.

I am envious of you and that beautiful view you have at your home. I look forward to seeing Fall as it comes to your home.

Fall is my favorite time of year too and I can't wait for it to get here. Of course, being in Florida, we don't have the changing of the leaves...nope our palm trees stay green all year. Our grass does go a bit dormant and a few of my trees will drop their leaves too.
I just like it to be a bit cooler!

Betty said...

Fall is my favoite time of year too. I just wish it wouldn't turn into winter. I love red trees also.

Why is it during the winter we are so ready for warmers temps and when it's warm, we're ready for cooler temps? LOL

Beautiful photos! I am a Fall person for sure and boy does God put on a colorful show around here in October. But then you know that.

I'm hearing because of the mild summer and the fog we've been having that we're in for a very cold winter with substantial snow.

What do you think?

Sunny said...

Oh my! You wore a sweatshirt already ? I'm jealous!!! LOL!

Okay, now I'm totally homesick for the country....

Tenneesee is sooooo pretty and nice weather...in the Autumn. I have a friend in SingSnap who has ivited me to visit if I ever get up that way.

I just might dismiss my Miami Beach vacation.....and head for the hills instead!!

I'm going to do some researching on hotels/motels,B&B's and also the Amtrak schedule and routes.

I have to save more money toooo!

Thankyou for letting us peek at your beauteeeful photos! I love them all.

PS: got an extra room for rent??? haha, just kidding...

Fall is one of my favourite times but I don't want to see it just yet. I'd like a couple of more weeks of milder weather (equating into milder nights) so my garden would produce just a little bit more.

We've had some hints of fall as well and although I love the season I don't look forward to winter here. Your pictures make me miss the glorious falls of the deciduous forests.

Hi Betsy, Your pictures of fall are just beautiful. I think fall must be my favorite time of the year but I love spring, too. I could do without summer and winter altogether and just have two seasons! The leaves are starting to fall in my yard already.

Tina said...

Betsy!!! What are you doing wishing for fall...not yet!! lol next you will be posting pictures of those snow storms you like so much..
I know all this is right around the corner..but I'm still trying to hold onto those ole days of summer..but like you, I enjoy the cooler mornings!! Those are some awesome colors you captured in those Tenn. mountains!! :)

I love our New England fall weather. However, not ready for it just yet, as we had two months of rain (June and July)here and now a couple of weeks of humidity which we don't normally have here on the coast. But fall here is gorgeous, alot of tourists come to Maine for the fall foliage. We even have a Fall Foliage Festival here in town for Columbus Day weekend. Many years ago it snowed the night before the fair and that was a shocker. Your trees by the way are gorgeous in their fall finery. Love the red tree especially that is in your yard, and the contrast one of the steeple and red tree is so pretty.

Please (PLEASE!) send us some of that cool weather Betsy! (Oh, that's right, we have air conditioning ... still, not the same.) It doesn't cool down here until mid October ... yikes!

I also love the fall weather but it never lasts long enough. Last year it started snowing here Oct 21st and it didn't stop till May so fall is a season to be enjoyed. Every minute!
It was 4C this morning.

Betsy, the photos are all beautiful, I can almost feel the chill in the air just looking at them. I love Fall because it's neither too hot or too cold. The colors that time of the year are always so vibrant.
