Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

Tallulah Gorge State Park, GA--Summer

Tallulah Gorge is the 'crown jewel' in Georgia's state park systems. It would also qualify as being the state's 'waterfall park'. For it contains 5 fulltime waterfalls and 2 more wet-weather falls. Located to the north and east of the town of Tullulah Falls, its 3000 acres hold some of Georgia's most striking scenery. Designated a state park in 1992, this unit operates through a unique cooperative effort between the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Georgia Power Company.

There is something there for everyone, from a short, leisurely walk, to an ardurous hike. There's camping, kayaking, swimming, water sliding at Bridal Veil Falls, bird watching, rock-climbing, and even tennis courts. We highly recommend this beautiful place to everyone.

Above is a picture of the gorge --as taken from an overlook. The Tallulah River flows through the gorge. Below are more pictures plus a short video. Be sure and click on the pictures because they are SO much better when viewed larger.

From an overlook, this is the top of Oceana Falls.

This is a view of the South Rim of the gorge. You can see the trail on the other side. (We were on the North Rim trail and took in five overlooks.)

Another view from the North Rim of the gorge; Note some of the rock formations along the north edge.

This is a picture of Hurricane Falls --from the overlook.

I just HAD to take a picture of this cute little yellow flower growing along the North Rim.

George stands at one of the overlooks getting the BEST pictures he can!!!

We had to walk down these steps in order to get to one of the overlooks. It was a hot day ---so I was prepared with my headband and my trusty ole' towel hanging over my camera strap!! I also had my water in my backpack---so I was prepared for the hot day!

Be sure and watch and listen to this little video. It is VERY short---but you can hear the water from L'Eau d'Or Falls (Water of Gold). I took the video at an overlook above the waterfall.

Hugs,

I think it is great you and George have similar passions.
Curious though, do you all take the leisurely walks or the ardurous hikes? It all looks a bit ardurous to me so either way I'm impressed.
Thanks for making the trip unardurous for us.

My how things change! It's been a long time since I was up that way--back in the '70's-- and I 'm glad they finally made it an official parkland. Thanks for the revisit.

I lived in GA for a few years but never went to view this Gorge. Pretty pictures. North Georgia is so pretty anyway. Makes me miss it.

And yes, I too would love to live in Jasper! I left part of my heart there! I found my perfect spot for my log cabin with an awesome view!

Hopefully we'll get to the other places you mentioned. My mom and dad have been to one of them!

Have a great Betsy!

Incredible photos of Tallulah Falls, Betsy! Two years in a row, my husband and I got out of where we live...way down near the bottom of Florida...and visited so many waterfalls in Georgia and No. Carolina and Tennesssee. Such amazing beauty...and the sounds there are just fantastic...the birds and little hummingbirds too! One of my fav waterfalls is Anna Ruby Falls. An easy slow climb...but what gorgeous scenery! Thanks for your incredible blog...I am enjoying it soooo much!
