Small BIRDS at my Bird Feeders during May, 2014

American Goldfinch (we have LOTS of Finches year-round,  with more during the winter;)
YIPES... Today is Friday,  the 13th....AND---it's also a FULL MOON...  The next time these two things will happen at the same time will be 2049...  Don't think I'll be around to see that again (since I'll be 107 then---YOW!)....  Not sure how many witches/ghosts/ goblins will be OUT tonight ---but if you are superstitious,  be careful out there today/tonight!!!!!!

Today--I'm sharing some of the smaller birds in our yard --that come to the bird feeders regularly.    Sometimes,  I concentrate too much on the Bluebirds and Woodpeckers --and forget about some of these little Cutie Pies...  All of these photos were taken during May.   Hope you enjoy seeing the wonderful little birds we have! Like I always say,  be sure and click on the photos for enlargements.

Carolina Chickadee  (chatter-box,  and not afraid when I'm nearby;)

Tufted Titmouse  (they dart in and out constantly all day long--year round;)

White-Breasted Nuthatch (year round visitor,  off and on all day long;  they love to eat upside down;)

This is a male Downy Woodpecker.   (He had a baby at this feeder the other day and I couldn't get a picture before they flew away!)

Here's that same Downy Woodpecker.  I wanted to show you the RED on the back of his head... The female Downy has NO red on her.

Carolina Wren (one of my favorite little birds who sings loudly --thinking he's as big as one of the bigger birds;  Carolina Wrens LOVE building their nests near people's porches/hanging baskets/garages,  etc... We have a hard time keeping them out of our garage!)

Hope you enjoyed seeing some of my little guys at my Bird Kitchen today... Sometime next week,  I'll show you some more of our bigger birds around here...

Have a wonderful weekend...

Hugs,

Today is my son-in-laws 31st B Day so I hope it goes smooth. LOL
Love those tiny birds, seeing a lot of wrens in the bluebird boxes.

They sure are cute. I love all my little bird friends. Lately the bigger birds have been chasing the cute little guys from my feeder. Also the tree leaves are hiding it a lot now. But I still love watching them as well as hearing them sing. Have a great weekend.

Betsy, We love the little birds too...especially the wrens. Lots of different woodpeckers too, some of them not so small. We get hummingbirds coming to their feeder in the evening only this time of the year... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

Hey who says you can't live to be 107? 107 is the new 80 :-)

Love these adorable photos - especially the Downy Woodpecker. One of my favorite birds!!

You got wonderful pictures of your little feathered friends. I really like the photo of the Titmouse with the peanut in his beak.

There were so many gorgeous birds at our last campground but I never seemed to have the camera. I'm just not a good picture taker of moving objects. So I love looking at yours and saying I saw one that looked kind of like that one.

Cute photos. I really should keep some bird seed out, I guess. I only keep the finch feeder filled in the summer, but I saw a little Nuthatch looking for food the other day. I hear a wren chattering away, but I never see it. Have a nice day and weekend, too!

Just darling. We have many of the same small birds at our house. I especially like nuthatches. It's fun to see then walk head down on a pole.

Hi Betsy!
I didn't know that fact about the next full moon/Friday 13th combination, you'll be there! 107? no problem!
The beautiful birds are such a treat, I also didn't know the female woodpecker has no red on the back of her head, you learn something new every day! have a wonderful weekend! x x x

Hi Betsy,
I think it's amazing that you got such great picture of the birds! I never have a camera close by and even when I do, the pictures are blurry. They are all beautiful birds and I'm looking forward to next weeks offering. :-) I didn't know that about the moon and the date. I don't think I'll be around then either and as I'm not superstitious, I'm just not going to worry about it. But, it is an interesting factoid.
Blessings,
Betsy

I didn't realize it was a full moon last night too.

Is a Carolina Wren the same as a House Wren? We have had those build nests in containers on our back porch and, twice, in the wreath on our front door!! They are either fearless or foolish! ha! ha!

Fun shots. We have a Mama Hairy Woodpecker and 2 babies (they are bigger than she is) coming to a certain feeder and there are the babies saying 'feed me, feed me'. Too funny to watch. MB

Just LOVE your birds, Betsy! You get a nice variety at your feeders. I almost posted a moon picture because of last night's event, but was just too tired to take the shot though I did look at the moon when I walked Yvonne and our grandson out to their car when they left. Hope it was an UN-eventful night for all!

You have such an awesome variety of birds that visit your feeders. We do get quite a few birds but not a huge variety. Mostly I've been seeing goldfinch and house finch lately.

Happy Father's Day to you and George. These are cute little birds, my favorite being the wren. I always refer to them as singy birds!!!

Freedom's Glow is my favorite but I love them all. I only have one but don't know the name of it. A friend gave it to me recently and it has been blooming ever since. I'll have to post a pic soon when I find out what it's called.

The photo of the gold finch brought memories. At our previous rental I put up a finch feeder and loved watching them.
