New Waterfalls in North Georgia
On our trip to Florida last week, George and I stopped along the way (both going and coming) to check out some new waterfalls. Today I'll share five of them with you ---all in the North Georgia area not too far from Dahlonega. My new header and the picture above were both taken at my favorite waterfall from this particular trip. This waterfall is named Middle Desoto Falls and is found at the Desoto Falls Recreation Area, north of Turner's Corner. Below are more pictures of the waterfalls we saw last week.
This is Trahlyta Falls (found near Vogel State Park).
This is not a good picture---but was the best we could get from the road-side. This is the Lower Falls on Waters Creek (near Turner's Corner). This waterfall is now on private property---and there was no way to get across the creek to get a better view from the overlook on the other side. It was VERY obvious that the new owners of that property do NOT want anyone crossing their bridge to see the waterfall. SO---we just got the best picture we could get!
This is a gorgeous waterfall also on Waters Creek (just down the road). Its name is the Falls on Waters Creek. This is a popular swimming area for the 'locals' in the summer.
Here is another view (from the road) of the Falls on Waters Creek. We drove farther into the woods searching for more waterfalls. I'll let George talk about this situation (he has a picture to share) on his blog. SO ---be sure and check out his blog today!!! Click HERE.
Here is the Middle Desoto Falls. This waterfall was back in the woods and we enjoyed the short hike in that beautiful area. As I said, this one was my favorite waterfall from the entire trip.
George now stands on the little overlook enjoying Middle Falls.
Red-faced and sweaty (from hiking in the summer heat), I still really loved being at this waterfall. All of the Rhododendrons and Mountain Laurels around were gorgeous.
This last waterfall is named Lower Desoto Falls. It is not nearly as impressive as Middle Falls ---but it was still pretty. We did not hike to Upper Falls because it was a longer hike and we were running out of daylight.
We saw a very interesting waterfall on the way home---but I'll feature that one in another blog.
Have a great Monday!
Hugs,

And what a special birthday you had! A belated Happy Birthday to you. I love your shots of the full birthday moon shining over the ocean. Lovely!
Your new header just sums you two up. Huge smiles and a lovely waterfall background. Well done.
You could put a "Guide To Waterfalls" coffee table book together with all you photos.

I really admire you two getting out and stopping around the trails like that! I would be worn out and out of breath in no time!--Randy
You and George are 2 of the happiest people I "know".
Looks like you had a great time.
Love the pics.
Oh, Betsy, these are all wonderful...so beautiful.
Some of the water looks almost lacey and delicate - not anything that could carve solid rock!
I am just blown away by your waterfall pics. They are just breathtaking!! I LOVE your new banner.
Glad you're back. Looks like you had fun.
Lovely waterfalls. You can almost hear the water running down the rocks.
Sunny :)
Beautiful! Middle Desoto Falls is just breathtaking. Nice shot with the long exposure!!
The photos you post of all the falls you all visit are always beautiful and so tranquil and peaceful looking. Sounds like you had a great trip and enjoyed it very much. Welcome back.
I'm so glad you were able to see lots more water falls Betsy. They all look wonderful.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and checking in. Looks like you have been having a great summer.
My summer has been very busy. My Mom has been sick, kidney infection, low sodium, pace maker replacement. I have been staying with her most of the time since the first of July. Then our cat got sick (and died Aug. 5) my daughter got sick and spent 24 hours in the hospital getting her diabetes back under control. She is fine now.I hope things are getting better now.Good to hear from you. Genealogy has been put on hold.
Each of these falls has it's own beauty.I already suggested to George that I would love to see a series just on your waterfall pictures. This would be so interesting.I am enjoying each one.
Blessings,Ruth
Beautiful Betsy! I'm hoping to check out some little KS waterfalls in the next couple of weeks.
Sorry I've been gone so long. A very busy - but joyful - summer. I haven't forgotten about you and hope to get back into my blogging routine of reading and writing again.
Hugs!
Those a wonderful waterfalls! I would love to go swimming in the local hole. The water out here in the wild west is just too cold for that.
All the water fall are beautiful!! You must have enjoyed your trip very much!!! I love exploring and finding beauty in out of the way places.

Great pictures!I am so glad you had a good time of your little excusion.
Love the new header!
You two are sure livin' the life!
Isn't it great that no two waterfalls are alike!
Hello Betsy,
All beautiful!! The home we sold in north Alabama was about 3 miles from Mentone..I bet you know where that it? Not far from the Desoto National park...
Thanks for visiting and only one post appeared...blogger can do some strange things at times..LOL Paper dolls!!! I really think there are more of the *Inner Child* of the adults making fantastic paper dolls these days...just absolutely lovely stuff!
Have a lovely day,
Stephanie
My favorite is Middle Desoto Falls. It reminds me of giant logs in a fireplace, but instead of fire, it's water, much more refreshing!
More childhood memories have been awaken. I remember many visits to Desoto Falls and Vogel State Park. In fact Vogel was one of my dad's favorite places.
Beautiful photos of the falls. When you return maybe you will have time to see Upper Desoto Falls.
Thanks for the memories,
Judy
Hello Betsy. I saw your blog on another blog that I follow and thought I'd check it out. I really like it. I too love to hike. Your photos are beautiful.
I think I'll follow your blog if you don't mind.
Kay
Happy Belated Birthday! I love your waterfall series and it's fun to see you and George in your Mellow Yellow shirts on Monday. Looks like you both had a wonderful time ;--)

Pretty awesome Betsy!
Such splendor! Hard to believe parts of Texas are without rain for close to a year now.
You KNOW I love your matching T's. Patrick & I are twinsies a lot too. Hard to loose each other that way. teehee. Blessings, C.
What beautiful shots! You really have a good eye for waterfalls. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Betsy,
I'm taking notes here about these waterfalls for next time we are up in that area... they are really pretty and it's nice to know someone has been there and approves.
I've caught up on your traveling, lady. You guys are quite the gad-abouts... the mountains and then Florida. I did mention to you before that August is our hottest month. You must come back in say December or January when our weather is like your spring probably is... it must have been very hot at Ormond Beach. But I can see you had a great time. Happy Birthday to you btw. That moon last week was awe-inspiring... I should have known it was for someone very special!
You were not too far from me... almost straight across the state on the other coast. Yes, you must fit in a detour here somehow... I'd love to show you around.

beautiful pics....Barb
George looks like you added him to the Middle Falls photo.
The falls that you said was a popular swimming location looks like the falls at the Methodist Camp Gleason, close to Dahlonega. I almost drown there as a child. Never told my Mother until last year.
Love your new header. Glad you are home safely.

I love the mountains and waterfalls in North Georgia. It is one of the most beautiful areas I have ever seen.
Thanks for showing me some wonderful spots I have not been to before.
You and George should write a travel book, you would both be very good at it :D
Hugs and blessings, Pam
Love your new header photo, too!
Love that new header of you and George!
We love hiking to see waterfalls--especially when we are able to take a trip to the mountains. The sounds of the falling water aways seems to lure you on.
Looks like you had a really neat trip!
WWW does not stand for World Wide Web; it stands for What Wonderful Waterfalls!
Happy for you that you found some new ones to add to your 'collection.'
Wishing you a happy week.
I love the new header, Betsy, and all of the waterfalls are beautiful. You must have had a great time with all of that exploring.
Awesome! Those falls are super finds, Betsy! I love that white water. :-)
