Today I am going to continue my Yellowstone journey with you.. If you missed Part I, please click HERE. There is some great information about Yellowstone --including links to learn even more. (Several of you enjoyed seeing the links showing more about the elk.)
I begin today by sharing a photo of two more waterfalls we saw on Sept. 19, 2012, when we were there. We are now on the road between Mammoth Hot Springs and Tower Falls. Undine Falls can be seen from the overlook near the road. Wraith Falls is a short hike. We enjoyed seeing both of these waterfalls. Have I mentioned that the waterfalls in Yellowstone are FABULOUS??? ha
Here's a picture of George sitting at the overlook at Undine Falls.
We had a traffic jam on the road between Mammoth Hot Springs and Tower Falls --waiting on a herd of buffalo to cross the road... Hope you enjoy seeing a couple more pictures of them.
This is a photo of our hike to Wraith Falls. The trail was in good shape --and we enjoyed the countryside around the falls.
This is one of the prettiest waterfalls in the park, Tower Fall. I tried to get its picture from three different angles. The one on the right is my favorite since you can see all of the rock designs behind it. They reminded me a little of Bryce Canyon. Beautiful waterfall, don't you think? It is 132 feet tall. To read more about Tower Fall, click HERE.
After leaving Tower Fall (and heading back toward Mammoth Hot Springs), we stopped to see this Petrified Tree. Amazing, isn't it? Reminded me of our time in the Petrified Forest... Such great memories.. (To read more about this Petrified Tree, click HERE.)
Next, we drove back through Mammoth Hot Springs and went north to the north (northeast) entrance to the park. We drove to Gardiner. The collage above shows the beautiful Gardiner River in the top and bottom photos (what a fabulous drive), and we enjoyed seeing the BIGHORN SHEEP (middle photo) on the top of the ridge while driving to Gardiner. (To read more about fly-fishing in the Gardiner River, click HERE.)
The reason we drove to Gardiner was to see this gorgeous arch, the ROOSEVELT ARCH. Isn't it beautiful? If you get to Yellowstone, don't miss the drive between Mammoth Hot Springs and Gardiner... FABULOUS! (To read more about the Roosevelt Arch, click HERE.)
Throughout Yellowstone, we saw ELK... Almost every morning we were there, we would stop along the way to see the elk. Beautiful animals!
On the way back to our motel in West Yellowstone that night (9/19/12), we saw (as we did most evenings) a beautiful sky and sunset.
I'll close Day 1 (of 5 in Yellowstone) with a collage of George and I. We took our picture together at many of the places we visited each day. Such GREAT memories!!!!
Hope you enjoyed one of our days at Yellowstone. Obviously, there is much more to come!!!!
Thanks to those of you who added an email gadget to your sidebar. I now have about 56 followers who were nice enough to add it, and I am getting your blog posts via email... I wish ALL of you would put that option on your sidebar... Sigh! Thanks again to those who do!!!!
Have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you on Monday.
Hugs,

Wow! The waterfalls are all so awesome and nice. I missed the chance to visit Yellowstone as it was during my winter break then. I can get to enjoy all the pretty sights here. Thank you Betsy.
Hi Betsy, lovely post and photos. I love waterfalls, fountains, the ocean, I just find them so soothing and therapeutic, as I am finding this post. Thank you for sharing!
Unfortunately we didn't do many hikes when we were there. So thanks for filling me in on the bits I missed, like those waterfalls.
Betsy, I enjoyed your Yellowstone scenes. The waterfalls are gorgeous and I love all the critters. Best of all are the photos of you and George together. Many happy memories of your trip to Yellowstone! Have a happy weekend!
For me the first of March is one step closer to very hot summers. :(

Sorry I didn't do the button thing.
I just bookmarked bloggers and can get them on my phone or laptop. That way the email is not all filled up.
It's nice that you got to see such a great place. I doubt I'll manage to see it because it's hard to reach from here.

I like the new header shot Betsy. Email coming.
Hello Betsy, Your photos of Yellowstone are much nicer than mine. Your photos really reflect the beautiful remote pristine wilderness that is Yellowstone. I love all the graphics you add to your photos. Very pretty. Our Winter is still with us. I am Dreaming of Spring. Hugs Judy
Gorgeous pictures. My favorites are the Tower Falls , the buffalo and the sunset. Have a great weekend.
I have never been to Yellowstone, but have always wanted to go there. Your photos make me think I need to plan a trip soon - what beautiful country!
Beautiful, beautiful Yellowstone!!! Great pictures, Betsy!
What beautiful country and views. We really do live in an amazing country don't we.
Of course I enjoyed the creatures the most.
By the way, loved Georges hat.
Always a pleasure tagging along with you two on your outings. However, today my eye caught your header. We were told the devil was beating his wife when clouds appeared like this. Or, they were drawing water for rain.
the bison and elk are so cool to see.
So glad you guys made it to the park and had such a great time. You did it great justice with your photos. I so would like to head there this weekend but will put it off probably another couple weekends and see if we get another dose of good weather to go.
The pic of george at the falls is excellent. You two have such neat adventures.
Wow! I loved this whole set. I feel like I was there with you. I agree with your about your favorite Tower Fall picture. Those rock formations just enhance the waterfall. Great shots of the arch and the petrified tree, too.
I'm with you!! Where has all the time gone. I looked at the computer today and sure enough 3/1/2013.
Beautiful Pictures. Yellow Stone is a place I need to visit one day when we head back that way again.
Yellowstone is going to have wait another year for us I think. Which makes me just enjoy your pictures even more.
Marvelous captures as always, Betsy! I do love Yellowstone and the waterfalls there! Thanks for the memories! Have a lovely weekend!!
I have really enjoyed your Yellowstone posts. The waterfalls are amazing!
Beautiful scenes. Yellowstone has so much beauty. I realize that the two times I've been there,we didn't see nearly all there is.
I loved seeing the buffalo and the elk, Betsy! Great pictures of a beautiful part of our country! Have a nice weekend.
Wonderful to see Yellowstone through your eyes. I can't wait to get back there! Wishing you and George a great weekend Betsy :)
I love your new blog header!
As always you got some awesome pictures. My favorites are the buffalo and the elk! I hope you have a great weekend.
I sure enjoyed this group of photos! The waterfalls are just beautiful. Thanks for sharing your trip with us! Have a great weekend.
Simply gorgeous. How funny having to wait on a herd of buffalo to cross the road. Don't see that very often
I like that arch! Looks so sunshiny and warm in these photos. I'm ready for spring.
Hi Betsy, i hope your area is warming now! Those shots specially the falls are so envious for me. And that Undine Falls has the best design i think, as if the cascading steps are intentionally done!
The waterfalls are just breath-taking! The buffalo and elk are so gorgeous! I hope to see some in person one day. :)
Happy March!
All beautiful shot--but then again how can you go wrong at Yellowstone. the picture of George by the Falls is very nice. You must frame it and put it on the wall.
Gorgeous US don't you think? MB
The Lamar Valley near Mammoth is my favorite place to see wildlife. We often stay at Mammoth in Sept in one of those little camper cabins....:)
Some very unspoiled and gorgeous scenery! I'd love to get there someday.
We saw bison at the Columbus Zoo last summer with the granddaughters. It would be so nice to see them in a natural setting.
I'm going back up now and follow the link on the arch. :)
Have a wonderful weekend!
The falls are very impressive, Betsy, and the Tower falls must be amazing when it is frozen. How exciting to see the bison - there's so much history in that place as well as the natural beauty. Sorry about the change of email which has
complicated communication. Hope we can get linked up again.
I know my Hubs would love to go to Yellowstone to see the Elk. I need to stop over and check out part one.
You have some beautiful memories that you can relive through your pictures.
Hello Betsy,

Wishing you and George a great weekend..stay healthy and have fun travelling (and I travel through you both..hehe..)

Betsy, those pictures bring back a bunch of good memories. I love that area. Even though I've been there 3 or 4 times I would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks for sharing those beautiful pictures.
I love seeing the photos of Yellowstone because I have never been there and I want to go. Still my favorite is of George there - he looks so happy!
Yellowstone is such an amazing place.
I hope you and your sweetie are having a super terrific weekend Betsy!

What lovely shots of your adventure!
The countryside and waterfalls remind me fairly tale! The tree looks unique and for me looks like a rock. The Elk collage was awesome, Betsy! And the one with you and Georges is beautiful and the blue and blue completes the story!!

We hear about and have seen a documentary or two on TV on Yellowstone, but getting it straight from your eyes and lens Betsy and George is simply awesome. I LOVE blog-world and the friends we make!
and the things we would otherwise never see.
Thank you so much and here's wishing you both a great week ahead!

It's been awhile since I was able to visit. I love how you organized the photos into 'postcards'--such a great idea.
Wonderful photos and details, as always.
I'm not sure I know how to do the email thing, but will look into it.
♥
I couldn't wait to see what your header was gonna be for the month! Beautiful. You amaze me with all of your photo organizing skills
So lovely to get to see photos of "Jellostone" again - as the kids used to call it when we visited years ago! It is an amazing feast for the eyes scenery. Glad you had a chance to visit and then share the photos with us.
