Eastern Bluebird |
We have had quite a bit of snow off and on recently. My backyard birds flock to the feeders most every single day, but on a snowy day, they come even more so!!!!! SO--I got the camera out and took a few pictures to share with you recently. Be sure to click on the pictures for enlargements.

We had a fabulous weekend hiking and searching for waterfalls at the Little River Canyon and at DeSoto State Park near Fort Payne, Alabama. This was George's big 71st birthday weekend celebration --and we had a BLAST. Here's a picture of George blowing out all 71 (7 + 1) candles on his German Chocolate Cake.... I'll do an entire post about his birthday weekend on Friday. SO be sure and tune in!!!!!!
Hugs,

The same happens here on rainy or snowy days - the birds can hardly wait to get food.
You had some very lovely visitors to your feeders. That little Titmouse is so cute all fluffed up.
It's been forever since I've had German chocolate cake - sounds yummy! Will look forward to more pics of your weekend.
Great captures, Betsy! Aren't we lucky to have so many beautiful birds in our backyards?? I had so much fun watching them fight over the feeders during our 2 big snow storms. They are about to eat us out of house and home!
George looks like he's having a good time on his birthday. Hope it was a good one!
Those are wonderful potos Betsy. Such a great variety of birds who visit you. How do you blur your backgrounds?
That German chocolate cake for George's 71st looks good to me. Glad you both had a happy celebration.
Have a wonderful week ~ FlowerLady
I am so glad, it sounds and looks you and George had a great birthday celebration. Love all your birdies, wonderful photos, Betsy! Have a happy day!
I always love your bird post. The Eastern bluebird is my favorite every time, but that tufted titmouse is really cute.
Glad you and George had a wonderful weekend. German choc. cake is my husband's fav. cake.
♥
I just knew you two love-birds would have a wonderful birthday weekend!! Betsy all of your backyard birds are sensational. I would be in HEAVEN if I had half of those cute colourful sweeties visit my tropical yard :)
x
The cake looks delicious! Sounds like a fun time.
Love your birds!
love the snow birds. i always thought the blue birds ran away when it got snowy. never realized they would stick around.
love the 7 + 1 candles. so cute. great idea. keep celebrating. i think as we all get older - why not string out the celebrations & really enjoy it. make it extra special.
enjoy your week. ( :
You sure get a lot of beautiful birds. Great pictures you got of them too!!
We moved from our place in the country to civilization a few years ago and since then, I just don't see the birds I used to.
The last couple of days have been beautiful here,... lots of sunshine. Yesterday it got up to 62 degrees. The birds should like the warm weather coming on.
I knew you two would have a great time on George's birthday. You two certainly know how to celebrate.
So envious of your Blue Bird. I haven't seen one in several years.
always enjoy seeing your feathered friends.
happy happy to George. I know you both enjoyed the celebration.
You get so many beautiful birds at your feeders. All winter the finches and wrens have hogged the feeder. Yesterday the redwing blackbirds descended on the feeder so I had to put the feeder inside a cage to keep them away. Once the snow melts I will be able to put out more feeders and the cage won't be necessary.
Hello Betsy, Loved seeing all your backyard photos. I especially loved seeing the Eastern Bluebird, the American Robin, and Tufted Titmouse.I have never seen a Carolina Wren. Such a lovely wee bird. I look forward to seeing the photos of George Birthday get away. Hugs Judy
These are great. Such beautiful color on the bluebirds. When I see birds in snow and cold, it's always a marvel to me that they can survive such weather. They seem so fragile. But they're hardier than they look.
Belated Happy Birthday wishes to your sweetheart George.
Your bird visitors are so varied and beautiful Betsy. I adore those little Bluebirds. :>)
Sweet birdies! How wonderful to get some woodpeckers to the dining table too, LOL.
And happy birthday to George!
These are all wonderful photos, Betsy, but I especially love seeing the bluebirds because I never see them here. Glad to hear George had a nice birthday.
You have such a wonderful variety of birds at your feeders, I bet it is fun to watch and you did great shots of them. Fun to see the different birds all over the country.
now i know why they say blue bird of happinees, so sweet... glad you had a good birthday time.
Beautiful shots! We have a hawk nesting somewhere near our hotel. He loves to soar right outside our window :)
What beautiful bird shots and so happy to see that George had a great birthday.
Hello Betsy

Happy Birthday to George!
I love bluebirds, and we occasionally will see one or two. Our neighbor has a bluebird house.
Crows - three of them - are what greeted me as I went out my door for the morning paper today! We are not eager to feed them.:-)
Have a good Monday!

I do love all of your beautiful birds! Such terrific captures, Betsy!! I look forward to reading about George's 71 birthday!! I know you made it a wonderful day!! Have a great week!

Those birds are so fortunate that you put food out for them especially on such cold snowy days. They all look adorable, and I love seeing them. Thank you Betsy! :)
I knew you two would have a good time on George's birthday and it looks like he was getting ready to enjoy that delicious cake.....
I love all your bird photographs but that little eastern bluebird always gets my attention.....He is just so precious and sweet to me.....
Thank you for sharing your bird shots because I have such a hard time getting close up shots of the ones in my yard.....
Great pictures, Betsy. I'm actually beginning to learn to identify them via your many birdie posts. Always so fun here.
Love the puffed up Titmouse! I hope George had a very Happy Birthday!
Oh you made my day with the Robin
I love Robins
Happy Birthday George!!!
A Charming 71 years old.
:)
Your bird shots are great. Wish I had such beautiful birds around here but I only have crows and they get into everything if you encourage them to hang around.
George looks so happy! Well, my favorite was the very first one, you were right to make it first. THEN I saw the tiny wren and that was my favorite. THEN I saw the all fluffed out and mad looking titmouse and that was my favorite!!!!
I saw my first pair of robins today!!!!
YIPPEE!

Very nice. We've had a couple bluebirds coming to our feeder once in a while.
Wow you know the names of all these different kinds of birds...I recognize a few of them like woodpeckers
pretty
Beautiful birds. Even just seeing a picture of a Robin makes me think that our spring can't be too far away.
I love all your birds. You have such a nice assortment of them.
Glad George had a nice birthday
Not only do you get a variety of beautiful birds - you have the double pleasure of capturing them on camera! Lucky you. Happy birthday George, sandie
Where you two live is a paradise for many lovely things. You picked the perfect spot for retirement. I do so enjoy you sharing this beauty with us. I feel as tho I have been along on all your outings. Give George my best on his past birthday.
Those are fabulous birdie pictures!!!! Aren't they the cutest? I love each and every one of them. I think the blue bird is my favorite.
Susannah
I love the bluebirds! They look so small and serious.
I know George had a very happy birthday celebration! May his year ahead be full of all good things!
We have a few of the morning doves around here...I wasn't sure what they were, but I do love to hear them in the early mornings...
Gorgeous birds.
You and George have a great evening..
Great pics of your feathered friends! Happy Birthday to George!!
Oh wow. They're all good but the color on those bluebirds is spectacular!!!!
You are so lucky to get to see such a beautiful assortment of birds in your backyard! Spring must be right around the corner! Robins in our area are a good sign that winter is over but it will sometimes snow even after they have came back. I can see the yellow feathers coming through on the yellow birds. I seen a butterfly in our yard yesterday!
Hugs,
Angela

Love your bird pictures. I always like the expressions, especially the bluebirds. So much fun watching them.
Have any of yours started nesting yet?
Great bird pics. I'm surprised you have Robins at your feeders, they stay in the yard around here but never come to my feeders.
Glad George had a great b-day.
Blessings
Marilyn
Love your cute little fat birds, especially the bluebird.
Betsy my comments began having so many advertising mail I spent most of the day trying to get them off. I also don't like the word verification and to use it I have to go to internet explorer,so it's inconvenient. but for now I have no choice but to keep it. Maybe later they will stop sending them if they get returned.
what a joy looking at these birds. the blue one is so pretty.
You have so many beautiful birds visiting! I can't choose a favorite!
We like the squirrels as well here in Orlando. Our pups actually found a baby squirrel and didn't hurt it. I took a few pics and ended up taking it to the wildlife rescue. I have raised squirrels and you would probably be surprised how sweet they can be. :)
Looking forward to hearing how good that cake was! lol
YOU had me at German Chocolate cake! I'm glad George had a great birthday weekend.
Those birds are so sweet....I'm sure they appreciate all the treats you put out for them.
XO
My goodness, you have been very popular. Betsy, you are going to have to go back to work to buy all the bird seed you must go through.
I loved seeing all these beautiful creatures. It must be such a delight to see all the varieties stop by. Thanks for sharing.
That cake looks fantastic. Happy B day George!I may have to play the candles like this for my youngest, turning 21 this month and a soon to be mom.Three sounds better than trying to burn ones hand.LOL
Lovely pictures! Happy Birthday to George. His cake sure looks yummy!
I envy you Betsy being able to capture so many birds...it's getting hotter here and the birds are disappearing:)
Happy Birthday to George and have a great day!

So many lovely birds come to your feeders. I was interested to see the robin as someone commented on my blog post about a robin that yours are different from the UK ones and now I see why. Yummy birthday chocolate cake!
You have such a wonderful collection of birds in your yard.
Love the pic of George blowing out the candles!
You know me....I do love me some birdin'!!! Fantastic images there, Betsy.
I know they really appreciate you on a snowy day.
You have an amazing variety of birds at your feeders! I'm jealous of the bluebirds!
Happy Birthday to George. :)
Looking forward to your post on that,
Gosh the blue bird certainly looks like its very cold. All its feather puffed up .
Happy Birthday to George.
I love your beautiful bird photos. They are splendid. You are indeed an outstanding photographer and I enjoy visiting your blog very much. Have a great week.
Wonderful bird shots, as always, Betsy! I love the fluffed-up little button-eyed titmouse and the somewhat disgruntled-looking bluebird in the fourth photo down. Such a delight to watch the birds...
Happy Birthday to George! Sounds like he had a lovely birthday trip!
Great tweety post my friend
Sweet photos of your birds Betsy, but the sweetest photo was George blowing out his candles. Happy Birthday again George, and I look forward to seeing your celebratory photos.
I am always so envious of all your pretty birds! I don't even see that many varieties here during summer, let alone when there is still snow on the ground.
George seems to be missing a few candles on his cake. LOL!
Glad he had a good birthday - and that cake looks delish!
xo Catherine

I am a little behind...got knocked off Google for two days. It said there was some suspicious activity, and my blogs had been removed. I was pretty upset!!!! But, I finally got it back. Hope George had an amazing birthday! Love the bird pictures...especially the bluebird and the pileated woodpecker!
