More from Fall Creek Falls State Park, Tennessee

On April 21st,   George and I visited FALL CREEK FALLS STATE PARK here in Tennessee.   IF you missed seeing the blog post as to WHY we chose that particular day to go down there,   click HERE to find out!!!!!

Today I'll share with you more pictures from that cold, drizzly, foggy day!!!!  Above is the main waterfall in the park, Fall Creek Falls.  (There are 6 waterfalls there altogether.)   Fall Creek Falls is 256 feet high.  IF you want to read more information about this waterfall,  click HERE.

Here's a picture taken from the Fall Creek Falls overlook of the gorge.. You can see the fog around that day.

I took this picture of George at the overlook at Fall Creek Falls.  You can see part of the waterfall ---and also the fog.

Another waterfall at the park is named CANE CREEK FALLS.  The best place to get a picture of this one is after a hike on the other side of the gorge.  I took this picture from the overlook during our hike.

I got excited seeing some beautiful wildflowers blooming at the park.  Aren't these little guys just gorgeous?

Seeing the Mountain Laurels begin to bloom was also exciting to me.  I should go back next week  and see these beauties in full bloom...

After a delicious dinner at the lodge restaurant that afternoon,  we walked outside to check out the lake...  I thought of my youngest son and his son, my awesome grandson.  They would love to be here fishing on the pier nearby!  BUT--it was a little chilly out there ---or at least, the wind was cold!!!!

Finally,  this picture of us was taken at the CANE CREEK CASCADES when we first got to the park... After checking out this area and taking pictures,  we quickly put on our jackets... Did I mention that it was quite cold down there that day????? ha ha

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This past Wednesday,  we drove to McMinnville, Tennessee  to meet George's brother, Ken, and wife, Bonnie, along with  Dad Adams for lunch at Applebee's.   Ken and Bonnie have been visiting Dad this week in Tullahoma.   They live in Indiana --so we don't get to see them as often as we'd like.

This is a hard week for Dad (who will be 100 yrs. old in August).   Wednesday (when we met) would have been Mom's 92nd birthday. (She died last June--and he misses her terribly.)  Then Saturday, the 5th, would have been their 72nd wedding anniversary. BUT--Dad is still doing well,  and he definitely ate a good lunch!!!

George and I did something we NEVER do.... Can you believe that we both left our cameras at home????????   GADS!!!!   SO---the picture above of Dad,  Bonnie and Ken was taken last August at Cracker Barrel.    BUT--despite the fact that we didn't have our cameras,  we did have a great lunch and fellowship with all of them.  Ken is George's little brother ---being 2 yrs. younger.  Their sister, Janet, couldn't join us since she was at work.  She is 10 yrs. younger than George.

 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
George and I are going to take a BLOG BREAK.  We are SO SO busy --and there's SO much to do.. We just need to take a break for a short time.  We should be back to blogging between May 14 and 16...  Hope all of you have a great week!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend  and week ahead.
Hugs,
Betsy

I've got to make a return trip to Fall Creek Falls. The last time I was there was during the drought as few years ago and it was more of a Fall Creek Trickle! And I don't think I've ever seen Cane Creek.

I will certainly miss you during your break - bet you'll have lots of stories when you return!

Fall Creek Falls is gorgeous and tall with a rapid flow.
The spring foliage and flowers are beautiful as well.
Sweet pics of you George. Enjoy your break-time together, Betsy.

The first photo is wonderful. I love the mountains on a drizzly day. There's beauty in ever weather condition.

If you ever get to Indiana to visit the family, maybe we can meet--just not in the mountains!!

Best,
Bonnie

That first waterfall picture is really awesome.

It is good to see how well George's dad is doing. My dad would have been 100 this year on May 14. I can hardly believe it has been two years since he left for heaven. It seems like yesterday.

I love your yellow signature at the bottom, some day you'll have to tell me how you do that. The first picture is awesome, the water falling into a grove or something. And I love the triple falls! You and George do not need jackets when you have each other to keep you warm!!!

Have a good Bloggy Break...will miss you, but life does get BUSY!! Your journeys out to these wonderful parks always makes my heart glad. I SOOO understand your love of finding a place that is deserted except for you and George...and my mom and I have been quite guilty of considering a cabin our own home, too. Back in the days when mom was alone and I was young and single, we drove a very old car on road trips around AZ and NM...adventurous! We had little money, but it's amazing what you can find off the beaten path. And if we liked a cabin, we would hide a penny behind a picture on the wall, and noone would know except us, and so the cabin was marked as 'ours' for always!! Mom will be 80 in two weeks...we share some wonderful memories!

Thanks for reading this, Betsy...I know you will understand it!

You and George are so 'made for each other' :-) And your smiles are wonderful.

See you when you get back to posting.

I absolutely love the waterfall that moves down into that gorge. I think these are my favorite from your park visits. There's something special about the views at this place. I've left my camera behind several times....pretty sad day when that happens. Have fun on your break! We'll see you when you come back from your adventures:)

Faye here again, Betsy. Seeing your crayon quote in the sidebar reminds me that there's a wonderful photography meme where you photograph something of a specific Crayola color every day. Must think about where I saw it.

Nice trip! Thanks for sharing it. Don't know if you were aware or not, but there is a BIG addition to Fall Creek Falls State Park. Kenny and I found it quite by accident last Summer. We hiked to the other two waterfalls. Wheeler Falls and Hemlock Falls. Both worth it, but Hemlock Falls trail was sketchy to find. There is no official trail with markers. Finding it takes some bushwhacking skills. We need to go back to see the Medley Arch and Crusher Hole. Then we'll be caught up. Unless they add more! Hugs! Dana Bee

We went to Fall Creek to see the waterfall about 10 years ago. We got lost on the way. If it weren't for the ladies at the Cut n Curl who were open late on a thursday night we may never have arrived there. Once there we saw a man take a ladel full of melted cheese and pour it over green beans and eat it.......
we still laugh. Love your images..>

You are blessed to have a 100-year old father! This brings back happy memories of my great-grandmother who lived until 101 in 2001. I loved her so much! She was the kindest, sweetest person I knew who was never grumpy despite her old age.
