Besides our gorgeous ROSES (which I will feature in a later blog post), we also enjoy our flowering trees and shrubs, along with many other annuals and perennials which we plant in our yard throughout the Spring/Summer/Fall seasons. I went through my photos and picked out some of my fav's in 2010. Above is definitely one of my favorite IRISES.. That may be because of its color and name. This is the TENNESSEE VOL IRIS... (See why I like it???? ha)
We have lots of beautiful LILIES in our yard. I have lots of pictures of many different types of lilies--but I also love seeing the entire bed. These are outside of the kitchen window --so you can imagine how much I enjoy washing dishes in the summer when the lilies are in bloom --and smell so wonderful!
Here is one special lily that we had, named an ORANGE TIGER LILY. I love this little lily, and this particular picture.
Another favorite in early spring is the PINK DOGWOOD tree in our front yard. Here is one of my favorite pictures of the blossoms.
Another favorite perennial is our TULIPS... We have many different colors of tulips in our beds --and they are all just gorgeous. Above is one of my favorite photos of the tulips --with our ground cover, Periwinkle, in the background. This tulip is named ALL THAT JAZZ.
And what can be any prettier than a beautiful RHODODENDRON in bloom? This beautiful blossom is on our big Rhododendron bush in the backyard.
Another beauty in our yard is our DAYLILIES. Again, we have several different varieties --three of which you can see in this photo. This patch of daylilies is near our garage in the front yard.
This beautiful DAFFODIL is named PINK CHARM. As we do with our Lilies, Tulips and Daylilies, we also have a variety of beautiful DAFFODILS. This one is so unique I think.
WELL--I could go on and on and on --when it comes to showing pictures of our flowers. BUT--I'll stop and let you enjoy these. I enjoyed going back through all of my pictures in 2010 of our flowers, especially THIS time of year, when our ground is brown and bare --or is WHITE from the snow. The COLOR is nice to see ---and reminds me that Spring WILL come!!!!!
Hugs,

Wooooww...those flowers are soooo pretty! i love the colors.
actually i love flowers, but i don't want to plant them. because sometime there's a caterpillar on it, and i have a phobia of caterpillar. yups, no kidding, i really scared of caterpillar!
Gorgeous bulbs!!!!
How welcome the color was this morning - another cold dreary snowy day to face. Just can't seem to get warm these days! But those flowers sure brought some sunshine! Have a great day!
Oh, yes, spring should be here in a month or so ;-) I do love looking at the seed catalogs and will be planning my order today.
Thanks for the walk around your yard. The flowers are all beautiful and I can't wait to see them again come summer.I do think that Iris is my favourite in this collection.Have a fabulous weekend.

Hi, Betsy~
Your flowers are absolutely gorgeous!!
It's so nice to see some pretty colors this time of year.
Have a great weekend! :)
Very pretty... especially love the dogwood!! Larry
We do have many of the lily family, the tulips, the daffys up here - under the 10 feet of snow (well, not actually 10 feet!)and they'll be back soon --- ha --- 4-5 months! I LOVE the dogwoods and rhododendrons on here - we don't get those! All your photos are excellent Betsy and I once again enjoyed seeing the colors and having a visit!
How nice to see flowers when all we have is snow!! I love irises too and so does my hubby. We have a few lilies but nothing compared to yours and no daffodils at all and I love them.
Mostly I miss the huge rhodo's that we used to have in England and you have them too. They would grow in the forests there but not here of course. Too harsh!!
All these pretty flowers make me long for spring even more! So pretty!
xo Catherine
I love your flowers! I think my favorite picture is the first one - with it's mouth open, shouting, "Yeah Vols!".
These are all so beautiful. But I'm afraid it would take more than beautiful flowers outside my kitchen window to make me love washing dishes. :)
What a charming and warm post.I looked at a few with a group a few days ago, and always want more.
Makes me wish for spring.....
Hi Betsy, Very pretty blooms today and a welcome sight as bare and drab as the winter view is! We finally have clear skies and sun today! Enjoy your weekend.
I couldn't help but think as I looked at your pictures, " Betsy, you are so blessed with such beauty all around you." Thank you for sharing your blessings with all of us. Cold winter days definitely need a touch of color...at least the sun is shining here this morning.
God bless your day!
these are all bright and beautiful. the lilies make me think of my mother. she always had lots of them right outside her kitchen window so she had bright color to look at when doing dishes or in the kitchen. she loved daffodils and azaleas and lilies, and aways had a bright back yard
Are you accepting photography students? Wow....I could learn mucho, mucho from you folks!
Oh this gives me reason to live...as everything today is frozen solid.
So much gorgeousness.
Spring will be here before you know it.
Enjoy your weekend Betsy!
Oh Spring, where art thou!!
I love the Pink dogwood and Tulips and of course all the rest. Just think in a two monthes the whole Valley will be awash in Daffs and Tulips. MMMmmmmmm can't wait. MB
Methinks someone is tired of all the snow;)
Looks like 2010 was a very good year for you and flowers, Betsy. They are all so beautiful! Thanks for sharing them. Happy weekend to you! :)
Very good year for flowers then Betsy.
A warming post since it is 9 degrees and 3" of snow on the ground. Yep, Patti is happy.
Love the color of the first one but think I will look for a Razorback Red one instead:))
Beautiful, beautiful and beautiful!
Gorgeous! Every one! Love that Iris.. and the day lilies, and the lilies, and the....!
May I come see you when the flowers are in bloom? :)
Hi Betsy, Pink Charm Daffodil seems to be my winner today! I see we got about 3/4 of an inch of snow here in my neighborhood. White and pretty! The lake is shining with ice, snow and lots of open water. Have a wonderful day! Thanks for the bright flower views!
What a beautiful 'breath of Spring' here in the dead of winter!
All are gorgeous pictures. I can hardly wait!
I Love flowers! I think I say this about all your beautiful photos. You had a great idea for us to enjoy these, while sooo cold!
kim
L-O-V-E-L-Y!!!
Those are lovely!
Hey Betsy,
Being the pink girl that I am, I love Pink Charm...now about that Tennessee Vol flower? Ummm, I think I'll have to ponder my thoughts on that particular gem :)
I also have asian lilies and they are beautiful, although I wishe they'd bloom more than once!
Hello!Wonderful post!
Wonderful flowers!
I liked them very much!
Thank You very much for sharing!
It's a perfect day to think about beautiful flowers, Betsy. All I see outside is white snow and it's getting cilder by the moment.
Have a wonderful weekend!
HANDS DOWN the Tenessee Iris and the tiger lily!! I could stare at the iris all day!
Beautiful beautiful flowers, Betsy, especially the 3rd one... I love how it curls, that's so cool! =)
Stopping bye to say hello to you and George. Thank you Betsy for you kind comment. I'm hanging in there. Maybe a month or so I will be back to posting. =) Beautiful flowers.
the tulip is my fave!
I was thinking about the flower catalogs before seeing this...now I think when I get time I am going to the online places and look!
Maybe we need a switch till we can just turn the weather off and on at our whim...nah, we wouldn't really enjoy any of it then. At least now, we are thrilled the first time it snows or at the first signs of spring flowers or fall's colors unfurling.
Awesome blooms Betsy, each is a wonderful reminder of spring and summer. Isn't it great that we can reach into or archives and revive the warmer months?
Have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Judy
Hi Betsy, What a treat to see all these gorgeous flower images in January! You have a pretty summer view out your kitchen window. :)
Awesome, Betsy. Cheerful beauties to share on a wintery day, brings a smile.
My impatiens I brought inside to see if she would bloom, surprised me with 3 beauties of pink the other day. Can hardly wait for spring.
Have a beautiful weekend ~
TTFN ~
Hugs, Marydon
I will be so glad when I can see sights like this for real again. Sunny here, but very cold.
Oh Betsy, you are making me antsy for spring! Iris, daffodils are a few of my favorites!
Cathy @ Country Cathy
What beautiful flowers! They are really lovely.
Yes, winter is a great time to look at the pictures of flowers. Would they be as beautiful if we saw them year-round and didn't have the contrast of winter? I guess if we asked someone who lived in the tropics if they ever fail to see the beauty of year round blooms, we would know the answer.
I didn't know there was a TN VOLS Iris. And I loved all the rest you have, too. Have you made a "map" of the flowers? I know you probably know the locations and of course, what they are - - - but one day - - - many, many years down the road, someone else may live there and would enjoy that information.
Iris's are one of my VERY favorites and if I lived closer I'd sure be over to dig a chunk of that pretty orange one.
All of the flower photos are absolutely gorgeous but I LOVE that iris at the top of the post...that's the most beautiful color of iris that I've seen in a while!
I know what you mean about the music on blogs... I totally agree! I used to have the music set to play automatically then I realized that I don't like it when I visit a blog & theirs starts playing when the page loads, so I quit doing that! It really IS annoying! heheheee
Spring will come but will it come soon enough! :)
Lovely, lovely all of these!
I do like the second one with so many different colors. It reminds me of Easter.
Love that Tiger lily.
It's hard to imagine that in a short couple of months things will be starting to bloom again.
We missed out on the snow last night but that's okay you can keep it !! Still looks like we'll get our share next week though.
Hope you have a blessed weekend,
stay warm !
Marilyn
Very beautiful flowers, love the variety.
What a contrast to the colours now. You have a beautiful garden with so many varieties. Are you sure George wouldn't like a working holiday here in my garden?
Betsy, I started to smile the very second my eyes saw your colorful spring flowers.. what a glorious way to start my day, Thanks for sharing their beauty.
Hugs,
Pam
C'mon Betsy. Are you trying to torture me putting up those beautiful flowers while I look out the window at a cold (5 degree) snowy morning? :) Those are really beautiful!
Betsy, What a great idea to share your beautiful garden during these cold months to give us a peek at what's to come in spring!
Beautiful flowers and beautiful shots!
Thanks for sharing!
Looking at your flowers was like a little taste of spring this morning. Notice I said "taste". That is all I have been thinking of lately. EATING! It is -3 here this morning. I made a devil's food cake on Friday and I am trying to eat the whole thing this weekend. If this weather does not let up, I won't be able to get out of the house when spring does get here! I hope you are having a good weekend.
I love the Lillies and have many varieties of these myself, they are just beautiful. I always look forward to seeing your tulip beds, I need to plant some myself. x
Thanks, Betsy--I needed that flower fix! The tiger lily is so warm and beautiful. Love seeing the pink dogwood. Here, they all turn white.
Best,
Bonnie
I like them all, but I LOVE the Orange Tiger Lily the most! Very nice Betsy...
Ahhh memories of Summer and Spring come flooding back to me! lol You know my mother had a Tiger Lily plant that sat under the bedroom window when I was growing up. As much as I loved it's beauty, I hated getting the pollen on me from the stamen because it was so darn hard to come off. LOL Mom could always tell when I'd been messing around her plants.
What a joy to see these. Winter sure has a grip on me. Hard to move forward.
Blessings.
Nice!
How refreshing to see these beautiful flowers in the middle of a grey winter, they are indeed a feast for the soul.
I must admit the Tennessee Vols Iris is one of my all time favorites, what spectacular color, it brings the Cheerleader out in me :)
Are we headed for more snow tomorrow ? I hope not.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend up there in the Glade !
Hugs,
Jo

Absolutely beautiful and so delightful to see on this cold winter day.
I really can't wait for Spring, unfortunately they are saying another storm this coming week!
☼ Sunny
What a joy to see all your flowers on this cold winter morning : )
Beautiful flowers!
Beautiful flowers!
With all the snow that we have on the ground now and it's snowing still this morning, I will have to say that these lovely flowers are sure a welcome sight! Thanks, Betsy, for sharing. Stay warm!
GORGEOUS! And with the temps so very low right now, I'm just salivating for May!
Finally caught up with your posts. I thoroughly enjoyed the falls, your fun birds playing chase, and your gorgeous flowers.
I think my favorite was the rhododendren---that pink was awesome, but the daffodil is a close second.
You have quite a variety of lilies--beautiful colors. I'm gradually building my collection here with the idea that if we rent, I will dig them up and replant them at the new place (when we find it). Lilies are easy like that.
Enjoyed seeing all the color while outside everything is white except for brown twigs sticking out here and there.
Been a tough week, so I got behind in blogging.
Blessings--Beth
Thanks for some summer beauty in mid winter!
Such beautiful, warm flowers! It's freezng here again this weekend and am looking forward to spring... so I had to come by again to feel the 'warm' from your post!! :-)
Hope you're staying WARM!!!
Hugs,
Coreen xoxoxoxo
Just coming by to wish you a great week ahead.
I adore these again.
I love to look at these flowers!
After looking at snow and blowing snow for several months, your flowers were exactly what I need to see. My life seems brighter already! Just another 5 months and I'm there, I'll be looking at green grass! :)
The color is nice to see this time of year... makes me want it to hurry up and get here...so we will have all those pretty blooms again.Trish
You have so many beautiful flowers in your yard. I'm especially fond of the tiger lily.
I love lilies and they are very expensive in my country esp those white scented big bulbs. They are so costly that the florists who import them would use them only for special occasions like weddings. I am not sure where the lilies are imported from, maybe USA and Australia. I have to check it out for my own knowledge. Here we export many containers of orchids to Japan and Europe. I fainted when I heard the prices of our orchids in Germany.
oh spring spring spring... can't wait for spring. love the orange flowers. all of them.
