I love this picture since it shows the sun's rays on the mountains.
Look at all of the mountain ranges. WOW!
This area is just so different --at these higher elevations --from the photos I showed you yesterday. Since I love both colors in Fall --and since I also love seeing the high mountain ranges, I think we saw the 'best of all worlds' on this day on the parkway.
I hope you have enjoyed these photos as much as I have enjoyed showing them to you. If you get to go on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, please include the area around Mt. Pisgah in your travels.
This huge rock (found near milepost 424) is called the Devil's Courthouse. There is a trail available off of the parkway to the Devil's Courthouse --for anyone interested. We didn't have time on this trip--but I'm sure it would be a fun hike.
Finally, this is Looking Glass Rock (milepost 418, near Brevard, NC). I have blogged about Looking Glass Rock before. Click HERE to read about this interesting rock.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my photos from the Blue Ridge Parkway. We turned around at the Mt Pisgah Visitor Center, drove back to Maggie Valley and had a delicious dinner at the Maggie Valley Restaurant.
Hugs,

Good Morning, I really enjoyed your pretty pictures Betsy. I hope you have a very nice day.
I have probably been to that high point but can't remember for sure. I was on the Blue Ridge Parkway in 1995 and was totally enthralled with all of it.
Except for a couple of years in South Jersey, I've always live in or near the mountains and can't imagine being anywhere else.
I hope some day Larry and I will be able to ride thru the mountains down your way. Such a beautiful area! God is good giving us such awesome beauty to enjoy (and care for!)
Lovely pictures again Betsy! The mountains are spectacular and the Courthouse Rock is just like our highways where the road has been blasted through and the sides are just like your picture!!
That is sure some beautiful scenery Betsy! I must admit, that is much more exciting then my flat prairie land! :)
Happy Tuesday!
xo Catherine
Thank you for sharing. Your pictures are lovely. Sure hope someday to see the Parkway for myself.
Awesome pictures Betsy. When ever I see scenes like that, I try to imagine what the pioneers thought when they saw it. Wonder if they saw the beauty or just an impossibly difficult trip ahead.
Glad I am living today and can enjoy the beauty.
Have a great Thanksgiving.
I think the Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the most beautiful scenic views around. Our family really enjoyed getting out and taking in the views on our trip last yr. Our next goal...sliding rock! lol
Love the memories your photos brought back for me. Have a very blessed Thanksgiving my friend
I tried to count all those magnificent mountain ranges and I think it's between 8 and 10 on one of the photos. my fav for today is Looking glass rock, the sky is gorgeous, the trees in the foreground, a lovely lovely photo
Very nice trip, Betsy! We saw that big rock but you showed it up close and personal! Happy Thanksgiving to you and George!
Good Morning,
Being a North Carolinian, I am proud of the photos (very beautiful by the way) you shared. We recently took a trip to Boone and Blowing Rock which is always a feast for your eyes.
Beautiful Betsy...I like the one showing the suns rays also...reminds me of a "slide to Heaven"...
So beautiful seeing all those mountain ranges. Thanks for showing us your great trip.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Mountains, waterfalls, and water: gifts of God in nature that I never tire of looking at.
I just showed my junior general English class the movie The Last of the Mohicans. One boy asked if that place actually existed ---the place where most of the end action takes place. I said, "Yes, it just doesn't look like that in most places, because of civilization.
My favorite part is at the end where they are looking over the mountains and Chinchachook talks about the future and the disappearance of the 'frontier': a sad but true commentary. The view is breathtaking and could be one of your photos.
It is real nice to see this area. Looking through someones elses eyes and as you caught such a nice day all made these shots remarkable.
What a spectacular area to visit. The mountain ranges are amazing. This is some place I would love to see in person.
Thanks for sharing :)

I am sipping a pumpkin spice latte from Starbuck's and enjoying your photos. I love seeing those mountain ranges when the mist hangs in their valleys. I've seen these vistas so many times and appreciate them even more since there's not a mountain within a 150 mile radius from my current home!!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Well, I'm glad at least that you didn't go into the Devil's Courthouse!! Of course you would have been found innocent, but nevertheless...Wow!! You actually got sunbeams shining down on the mountain!
The scenery in this area is astounding.
