On our recent trip to the Cumberland Gap, TN area, after we toured that area, we headed west to visit Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. This beautiful state park is located in the Daniel Boone National Forest. We stayed in Dupont Lodge (pictured above) and had a delicious seafood buffet in the 125-seat Riverview Restaurant.
Here is a picture of the Cumberland River ---above the falls. Since we were there on September 25, there weren't many Autumn colors in that area yet. But it was still a beautiful state park.
Here is a picture of Cumberland Falls... Known as the "Niagara of the South", the waterfall forms a 125-foot wide curtain that plunges 7 stories into a boulder-strewn gorge below. Isn't it beautiful????
Here is George standing at one of the overlooks at Cumberland Falls.
We are now looking down-river from the falls. Cumberland River winds its way through the park, and there are so many things available for people to do while there (white-water rafting, fishing, nature trails, horse stables, swimming, and planned recreation opportunities). Besides the 51-room lodge, there are cabins available for rent, along with camping.
You know how much I love waterfalls.... Even though we had seen this one before, I never tire of seeing it again -and again. If you enjoy being outdoors and if you love seeing a beautiful waterfall, you will love being at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. It is located in southeastern Kentucky just west of Interstate 75.
You won't want to miss tomorrow's blog for a couple of fabulous pictures we took at Cumberland Falls.... SO---come back soon. Okay???????
Have a wonderful Thursday. We'll be out blowing, raking, and mowing leaves in our yard this weekend. Wanna come and join us????????
Hugs,

LOVE the photos of you and George by the waterfall! Don't work too hard in those leaves today.
Beautiful scenes. It is amazing how the water falls so fast and yet looks so calm in the other direction.
Once you are done with your leaves,I have a yard full that need attention. The coffee will be on :)
Blessings,Ruth
So beautiful and relaxing as I have my morning cup of coffee!
Great pictures!! I'm originally from Kentucky and have been here many times--However it has been a lot of years since I've visited, so I've enjoyed seeing it again and remembering how beautiful it is!!
Great pictures! I'll be back tomorrow for more. Would love to help rake leaves, but I don't live close enough. LOL
Another beautiful waterfall!
Nice waterfall...I wouldn't be of much help to you in the leaves today....you take it easy and don't over do. God Bless Trish
Love those pictures of the falls! You and George be careful raking the leaves!
The falls and the resort are just gorgeous!!!!
Have fun in the yard today...I will be doing the same, except for not blowing or raking. Planting, mulching and digging...fun fun fun.
What a beautiful spot! :)
What a fabulous Park and waterfall. You have such lovely scenery in that part of USA. You look pretty good too.
The falls look great and I can see why it is a favorite.
Thought of you yesterday. Was watching a show about a couple who got lost and how defeated they were when their path was blocked by a giant, beautiful waterfall.
You would have just hunkered down and enjoyed.
Have fun raking. Think I will wait till they are all down first.
I recognize this place, Betsy!! The overlook where you and George are standing looks like the lower overlook. That's where we stood to get the photos of the moonbow. Walking down to that spot in the dark was fun! I loved it there!
That is a beautiful waterfall! Nice pictures of you and George too!
Beautiful scenery!! I'd love to see it in the Fall. The waterfall is gorgeous. It would be fun to stay a few days at that State Park.
Beautiful waterfall!
We will be doing the same this weekend in our yard. I can't believe how many leaves there are...Yikes!

Cumberland Falls is gorgeous. Ican see why you love it so. We have so many beautiful State Parks in our great nation and I am glad you get to go to so many. MB
It is indeed a wonderful waterfall. We'll have to visit it.
Would LOVE to come and join you! I think I'll stay here and 'enjoy' the cold rain we're getting. (By sitting in front of a fire with a book!)
The falls are beautiful! I'd imagine so much more breathtaking in person where you can really see the seven stories of water cascading!
OK....you know how lucky you guys are to just cruise around like that and enjoy life!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful shots, as always.
Oh I love the photos of you and George with the falls behind you. This is a beautiful spot. I will be back to see more. I've only just started visiting blogs again after a busy week. Thanks for your regular visits to my blog and the [always] kind comments. Have a blessed day, my friend. (((Hugs))) Jo
What a gorgeous place, Betsy! I love the green colors of the Cumberland River. And, those are fantastic portraits of you and George in front of the Falls.
I LOVE that area and have been several times. I drove very near it on my way to Virginia. I've been busy pulling out my winter frocks. What's a good camera setting for snow? We have it in the forecast for tomorrow!!!!
Best,
Bonnie
Lady, you were in my neck of the woods!! Did you get to see the world's only moonbow? It's so cool. My hubby and I fell in love at the falls! ;-)
Oh Betsy, you keep giving me more and more reasons to visit TN! I just love the photos of the falls...just beautiful!! I have been to TN, well we drove thru
TN on the way to FL and then we go to reunions at FT Campbell on the KY/TN border. My hubby was with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam and they have reunions where the 101st are stationed nearly every year. Otherwise I haven't seen much of the state and now that I've seen your photos, I have a whole new reason for going! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful pictures.
Have a great day,
Cheryl
Cumberland Falls is awesome.
I love to walk in the water right before the falls drop.
When I was little you could go out much further and there was so much more water at the top of the falls.
Things do change....
Oh wow - those falls look beautiful... I am hoping to get a couple of shots of the girls soon if any of the trees still have color!

Just beautiful! Have you ever considered getting a position with the tourism bureau in the Smoky Mts?
Or do a book of photos? Your photos and commentary really make folks want to visit those beautiful mountains! The pic of you in front of the falls would be perfect for the book cover!!
Hi Betsy, One of the many beautiful places I'll have to go see! Excellent photography! Have a great Friday! Stay warm! I am thinking no snow but we may get a flake or more likely the grainy pellets of ice like sleet.
Wonderful photos of the fall, Betsy. They look beautiful! I'd come and help with the leaves, but I still have lots to rake here! I hope you are having a good week. :)
Love that waterfall! It's simply gorgeous! Would love to be there to help with the leaf blowing!
Cumberland Falls are so beautiful, Betsy! I could almost hear them by looking at your photos.
Did you ever see Niagra Falls? I've visted them twice --first time was on my honeymoon many years ago :)
Betsy, I can see why you never tire of seeing this waterfall! It is so gorgeous!!!
Sorry I haven't visited as often as I'd like but have been so busy I tend to meet myself coming and going. I know things will slow down soon...well maybe not as soon as I'd like them to.
Betsy, I can't imagine anyone ever tiring of beautiful waterfalls and scenery like this.
be well, be happy

Don't work too hard in your yard!
How about I give you my address and after you "warm up" with your yard, you can come and work out in ours?!!! hahaha
Those pictures - - - especially you in front of the falls - - - - too, too beautiful. A person can have a travel book just reading your blogs.
Several years ago on our way to Michigan to see my aunt and uncle we stopped at Cumberland falls looks like at the same overlook you all took those pictures.
It is a beautiful place.
Better put another log on the fire tonight and tomorrow night it's gonna be cold !!
Bundle up and have a blessed tomorrow.

I like the looks of that resort, it must have been a nice place to stay. Gorgeous views of the waterfalls especially the photos with you and George.
The leaves are starting to fall here. Just about time I think I'm finished raking an area the wind blows and here we go again.
My favorite picture of Vol Fan's parents is at Cumberland Falls:)
Wow, more beautiful pictures!! I esp. Love the waterfall ones!!
I'll be away from the computer tomorrow, but will try to check back Friday evening to see more!
Big Hug,
Coreen
Hi Betsy, I have seen this one many times. It is beautiful and I never tire of seeing it. When you work for the state in Kentucky and they have you go to a meeting, it is always at one of the state parks. Kentucky's parks have wonderful meals and scenery. I enjoyed you taking me back again! Have a good weekend.

I agree with Betsy, even when I was young and a Roman catholic because my parents were. i always prayed before I wrote my exams. I pray Mother mary tell me. Now, I am a Born again Christain, we pray, especiall when we go on long journies. If I am not feeling 100%, or when I have been rushing, I pay before I start the car.
Hi Betsy,
I know the importance of prayer. Right now I am transcribing the notes I wrote when my baby was alife hoping that I could get a book published.
I certainly won't have pulled through without prayers, and God fearing friends.
