Welcome to our World
Today I want to share our little piece of our world with you. Since I have so many followers not only from the USA--but from all around the world, I thought you might enjoy seeing the area of Tennessee where we live. The picture above shows the state of Tennessee. We live north of the town of Crossville in a community called Fairfield Glade. I added the red star on the map to show you 'sorta' where we are. We are 1 hour west of Knoxville and 2 hours east of Nashville. Both Knoxville and Nashville are in the 'valley' --and we are 2000 feet above sea level, on the Cumberland Plateau. We are in the Central time zone ---but are almost on the line since Knoxville and Oak Ridge are in the Eastern time zone.
Fairfield Glade is a resort community --and even though most of the the single-family homes are owned by retirees, there also are lots of time-share facilities --which help give the community alot of children and families around most of the time, which is nice. Because we are a resort community, there are plenty of things to do here. Let me just show you some pictures from here in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee.
Beautiful Lakes and Golf courses
Paved hiking trails through the woods
Outdoor pools
Beaches (That is one of my granddaughters.)
More Golf
Horseback Riding
Indoor swimming ---and classes; A gym and work-out area; And a Wellness Center
Several restaurants ---from fine-dining to fast-foods
Boating and Fishing (my son and daughter-in-law)
The wildlife (see the deer?) are protected here ---so we have LOTS of them.
AND----if we are lucky, we may get a little snow (just to make this snow-loving girl happy)....
Come and see us sometime... We'd love to show you around our world.
Hugs,
P.S. Some of these pictures were mine/ours and some are from the internet.

ps. thanks for your comment on monochrome theme. it's highly appreciated. kids grow up so fast that you hardly have time to enjoy them as a child....thanks so much for the advice, i shall keep those words close to heart, betsy!
thank you again!
What a beautiful place! Even the name "Fairfield Glade" is beautiful...sounds like a Utopian paradise. Okay, you've convinced me---I'll be right there! Be sure to leave the light on for me. :-)
Seriously, you are truly blessed to live in such a lovely place, Betsy. By the way, I've enjoyed your words of Thanksgiving in your sidebar. I love Christmas music, too. I have a HUGE collection.
Oh, to have family nearby and the beauty of nature at your back door. I also love your "30 days of Thanks."
Betsy...I think we will have to stop and see you this next year on our way to Virginia ...we go that way, through Knoxville. Might be a nice little place to get a motel and spend the night..and get some pictures taken with you ...I'd love to visit with you and George. My husband said that's where he got his wild boar (on the Cumberland Plateau). Brandon would certainly love the water, and so would I. Beaches, sand, nice restaurants, Betsy and George...here I come LOL... If I can't get you to go to Big Stone Gap when we do...we'll just have to come to YOU...
Fairfield Glad is a beautiful place Betsy. :c) I am just due South of you, almost straight down, just South of Chattanooga in Northwest GA.
What a beautiful place and packed with things to do. I love those hiking trails. No excuse for boredome there.
Also got a kick out of the snow-loving-girl. Snow brings out my dormant 6 year old self also.
Looks like IL but with less snow I bet.
What a great place to live.
I love Adriana Trigiani too
What a beautiful place you decided to hang your hat in. ;)
I did not know you were on Central time...you are way ahead of me..or are you behind me? I can never remember!!!!
Have a great day, Suz
Sigh - you already know how much I love your part of our little state! And this post just made me miss it all that much more!
BTW - We did stay with the church we had found and everyone is finding their own little niche. Both girls love their youth groups, Cg loves the choir and I'm getting ready to join the photography ministry! Thank you for asking....
Hugs!
You do live in a very pretty place. We always love coming up to Tn. for our visits.
Keep the snow wishing going! Wish Often, we might just get us some fluffy white stuff this winter.
I wannna move there...minus the snow!!!!
:ooks like you live in Paradise! Love those paved trails in the woods! Well, I love all of it!! I would like to live in a place like that!!!!!
Thanks for sharing your little corner of the world. It is indeed lovely and seems perfect for travelers AND homebodies like you and George.
Ya'll live in such a beautiful place! I'm ready to pack and move! I think I could really enjoy living there!
Betsy, you are very lucky to live in such a lovely part of the world. Thank you for sharing it with us. :)
Betsy: What a neat tour of your world, thanks for sharing the neat photos. I loved the area when I passed through.
thanks for the map, I like to know where fellow bloggers are. My son lives in Copperhill TN, he is one hour east of cleveland, which I see on your map. Love all the photos and what a wonderful place to live. My son is in rural and i mean rural. 30 minutes to a Wal-Mart is very rural to me. TN is a beautiful state and you are in the heart of it.
Tennessee is a beautiful state. Yes, I HAVE been there two or three times - but a long time ago. I think it's strange that a state would have two time zones! As HUGE as Ontario is, it has only one time zone...Eastern. Hmmm. I'm guessing we're Eastern because Toronto wants to be connected time-wise to New York City and Washington DC, But that's only a guess.
HA! I just checked the time zones in Ontario and confess I was wrong. The extreme western side of Ontario is in the Central Time Zone. WOW! I's on;y a little past 9am and already I've learned something new today. ;-)
I just love all these photos and your commentary, Betsy. Fairfield Glade is a beautiful place.
You and my Gardening Daughter are both snow lovers. When she was just a kid living at home, she used to pray for snow... seriously! Not to get out of going to school, but just because she loves it. She's almost 50, and I think she still prays for snow.
P.S. I'm loving your 30 days of Thanksgiving. We all have so many things for which we should be thankful.
You can be assured if I ever get back up that way, I will find you. That is such a lovely place. You picked the right place to retire. I really enjoyed your tour.
Hi Betsy, you live in a lovely area. I used to love the snow too. It is lovely, but up here we see far too much of it.
Marnie
It would be so lovely to visit with you! Thanks for sharing the beautiful part of the world that is yours! Have an awesome day! Going to try a half day at work today!
Nice colection of places and scenes Betsy, there seems to plenty of lakes around there too.
I so love the picture of you my dear friend in the snow. You make my heart so HAPPY!!!!!
What a clever idea, Betsy. Fairfield Glade looks wonderful. All the things one can do if so inclined. And the many roads to travel to show all of us the great views. Thank you. MB
Good post about our area. And I was so surprised to see one of my photos on your blog!! That second picture of the hiking path through the woods was one that I took last year and submitted to the city-data Fairfield Glade site. That's our walking path in the Village Green area.
Your post makes me wish we still enjoyed traveling.Since that has kind of left our system,I will have to visit through your pictures. Thanks for the invite.
Blessings,Ruth
What a beautiful place! Mr. Dragon would love the golf!
Fun to see the pinpoint on where you're located.
I would go for the horseback riding and the hiking trail, but it all looks like fun.
How nice to see it all - I especially love the deer - flags up!
What a lovely area Betsy, just gorgeous photos all of them. Loved your snow photo and the precious one of your granddaughter. A fun post, thank you.
Just tell me when!!! LOL you live in a grogeous resort community Betsy.
you need to visit us the next time you come to the Smokies.
beautiful area you live in and I hope we both get lots of snow this winter
I knew Fairfield Glade was nice, but now I have photo's to see just how nice.
What a lovely area with so much to do and see. Tennessee is one of the few states I have never been to, so I'll be right over! LOL
Thanks for sharing your world.
Sunny :)
Loved the tour of your community. Looks like a wonderful place to call home.
I can do without all that white stuff in the last picture.
But it makes a lovely background for you in the picture.

A resort community! I had no idea. Um.. When can I come up for a visit?
It's a lovely place, I remember my visits well. I attended a wedding on one of the golf courses, with a awesome view of the mountains in the background. The dinner was held in the restaurant, and the food was absolutely delicious. I helped a friend who grew wildflowers give a program, the audience loved it..
It's a truly special place, you are so fortunate to call it home.
I will be there as soon as I can! I definitely could see myself living in such a wonderful area. Very nice. I like the photo of you in the snow, you look very happy.
You have a beautiful place to live.
A lot to do & a lot going on. Just heaven.
You live in a very special place, Betsy. I am happy you share all you wonderful photos with us.
....I've seen it first hand...and it's gorgeous!!!
It really looks gorgeous there! Mike and I will definitely get down that way eventually and come knocking on your door :-)
That's a great idea, Betsy, showing people exactly where you live and some of the area. It looks like a wonderful area.

Oh this wonderful. I'm a California girl and my family is moving to TN next summer. It will be a totally new experience for my boys and me. My husband's job is relocating to Clarksville and he's been there many times. Looking forward to our new adventure.
Sandra
I have never been to Tennessee. And I didn't know there were so many lakes there. But the snow picture is my favorite :)
You're so swee-e-et! It feels as if I'm visiting you! Thanks for the map and all the lovely photos. I've already "googled" a few times to see where Tennessee and North Carolina is. You really had só much beauty over there. The hiking trails are my favourite! - how long are they? Beautiful snow photo - I can see that you really enjoyed it!!! :)
Crikey! How did I miss this post?
Thanks so much for showing us around your estate. It is absolutely beautiful. I would love to visit but.......its Canada next year.I always click on google maps when I see you talking about where you live or travel to. With so many American bloggers I've started to get an idea of where all the states are.
So are you and your husband golfers? I will be glad to send you some extra Ohio snow this winter if you want. LOL
Betsy, you live in such a lovely area! It looks perfect for both families and retirees. I'd love to acess to an indoor pool like that to exercise in.
Your grand daughtee is a cutie!
Betsy, your area looks really pretty. I am surprised by two things! That the deer are protected in your area and that you get snow. I guess I have always thought that you are far enough south that you don't get any snow!
We will be traveling thru Tenn. in a few weeks on our way for a one week trip in Florida. I have flown into Nashville for work seminars about 3 times, but I haven't driven through Tennessee yet. I am looking forward to it.
Wow Betsy, Such green grass!! I have about 2 inches of snow at my place right now. Will take a few photos later. LOVE your 30 days of Thanksgiving idea. I'll try to do that next year. x-c
Fairfield Glade is a beautiful place, I can't believe you even have a beach, wow! What a great place to live. I love the last photo, hope you get more of that what stuff this winter.
Hugs,
Judy
Sorry I'm running so far behind. We've had a couple of wind storms and keeping all the leaves under control has been really time consuming.
I've finally opened my 'reader' for the first time in AGES and have been catching up a bit. I enjoyed seeing the people and places in your world here and loved learning about your parents and where it all began! I'm not superstitious at all and enjoyed THAT post too.
Hugs and blessings,
