Mt. Nebo from the Rim Trail
The big Ice Storm (that I talked about in yesterday's blog) was on Thursday. So today ---I wanted to share some pictures from Tuesday. Mt. Nebo State Park offers quite a few interesting hikes. One of them is called the Rim Trail. This trail follows the mountain just below the summit, and is about 3 1/2 miles in length. There are some interesting views along the trail of the surrounding mountains and also the valley below. There were also patches of blooming Daffodils (or Jonquils--as I called them when growing up) around the area. The picture above is a big patch of Daffodils. Below are several more pictures. Be sure to enlarge them for a better view.
This is the Rim Trail along the way.
This is a view of the valley below. Pretty, huh?
Isn't that a neat picture of that tree near the big rocks?
You can see Lake Dardanelle from here --if you look carefully. It was a very hazy day--so the picture is not very clear.
Wouldn't it be fun just to sit on these rocks and gaze at the surrounding mountains???
It's neat to look at the surrounding valley and mountain ranges on the different sides of Mt. Nebo.
The rock overhangs are so neat all along the top of the mountain. Remember--the trail is just below the top, almost all the way around.
One more picture showing the trail as it works its way around the mountain. Hope you enjoyed the hike along the Rim Trail.
Hugs,

Nice hike. I think I'd enjoy that walk. Your last shot reminds me of our beloved "Old Man of the Mountain" in New Hampshire. He recently fell and is no more. You got quite a likeness of the Old Man's profile.
lol This is the only way I'll ever hike! Thanks.
I did enjoy the hike, thanks! Sorry you had ice and yucky weather during your visit. That was an unusual very cold and miserable few days we had there. Thank goodness it's supposed to warm up this week.
Just beautiful!!!
Betsy: That looks like a rugged trail, Thanks for the neat walk. I liked your artistic tree photo.
Betsy,
Very nice...I can see why you and George love going to visit your little rustic cabin..such views!! and can't tell you how jealous I am of those daffodils! I am so ready for those to show their little faces here in Pa.
Thanks for taking us along on your hike. I loved it! There are some lovely views on this trail. You are so right Betsy. In the one pictures of the rocks jutting out I could just sit there and gaze all day long.
You have some beautiful pictures. Sounds like you had an interesting week weather-wise. Glad you stayed safe and had a good time!
Blessings,
Mandy
Love The Pics.
You really go for the adventure don't you. The ice was pretty also.

I did enjoy it! The views are amazing!
Great to get to share the trail with you! Beautiful views, makes me want to have a picnic sitting on one of those rocks.
How beautiful! I must say, I LOVE the daff's. I can't wait for spring.
Lovely pictures Betsy. The trail is 3 1/2 miles...is that ONE way??
You and George are professional hikers. thanks for sharing.
Wonderful photographs of the view from the trail. Thanks for taking us along.
Love the jonquils! What a lovely hike - and I'm not even exhausted, lol! These are wonderful photos from this time of the year! Can only imagine how beautiful when all the trees are clothed in velvety green! Awesome! What an awesome Creator we have!
It's so beautiful there Betsy! I enjoyed the trails and liked seeing the Daffodils! And I could definitely sit on those rocks, breathe in some fresh air (and then snap a thousand photos! LOL!)
Glad you're home!
I am glad you are back although it sound like you had a marvelous time. Even with ice storms and cloudy weather---one can always have fun.
I am glad you like the lighthouses. Quite a few in Washington you can stay at but you also have to show tourists around.
For quite a few years I have stayed at a fire lookout tower for a few weeks in the summer or fall. Quite the views there.
I am happy to know you found a few more waterfalls.
Welcome home. MB
Welcome home!
I'm amazed at the daffodils in the park. What a joy to come upon!
Bummer about the bad weather...but it IS March. LOL
Enjoyed the walk ... the only thing better would be to walk it in actuality!

Welcome home!!!
That ice storm was something else-
at least you got to spend it with the one you love. :)
That would be wonderful indeed, just to stand on those rocks and look, just to stand among the daffs and breathe!
I want to go there! I don't know which view is my favorite, but they are all enticing. And yes, I would love to sit on those big rocks and just drink in the scenery! Wonderful shots all.
Absolutely beautiful! I could SMELL the fresh air, FEEL the breeze in my hair, and SEE the gorgeous yellow daffodils right along with you! LOVED it!
Wow..that trails gets really narrow. Wonderful virtual hike Betsy.. Michelle
Really a beautiful area, Betsy. It's quite a contrast, seeing ice one day and daffodils the next. :-)
My mom has called them Jonquils for as long as I can remember too & that's quite a lot of them - So Pretty!
Looks like kind of a rugged hike, but that view SURE IS NIIICE!!!
It may be hazy, but I can still see it - Mmmm! Great place to have a house & wake up to that scene every morning!!!
Thank you so much for the hike. Momma needed the exercise! I got a little woozy from the height though. XOXO- BabyRD & Hootie (& Cassie too)
I am totally loving the flowers and green grass. Wonderful photos!
Glad to you took me on this trip because don't think I would be able to get my hubby on that trail. He does not like the drop offs.

Wowie Betsy!! That was some hike! Thanks for all the awesome pics. Looks like you had fun. I love daffodils, they're so cheerful.

That looks like a really fun hike, ... and lots of hydrology in the valley below. Mt Nebo probably provides a good amount of ground water recharge at its base.
Betsy....Welcome back !
What breathtaking views, I would be dizzy and have to sit on a big rock, every few yards..lol
The daffodils are spectacular, beautiful colors, in all their glory !
Glad t hear you had a wonderful trip.....
Hugs,
Josephine
