Betsy Got SOME!!!!!!

Snow in Tennessee
The Rhododendron in our backyard, near the deck and Bird Kitchen
Well----Hubby is happy!!!!  We finally got a 'pretty' snow!!!! I love snow and we haven't had much at all so far this winter... And --when we've gotten it, except for one small one,  that kind of snow has been the dry kind which just blows around.

The type of snow I love is a WET snow which clings to everything..  That is just SO pretty--even when it's only about a couple of inches... I also 'prefer' (ha) that it snow during the daytime --when I am home, sitting by the fireplace and can watch it come down... This one did just that!!!!!   SOOOOOO------

Hubby is happy for me ---but now hopes that Spring will come soon.  George grew up in Indiana where they had LOTS of snow.  He doesn't like it AT ALL.  But--since he's such a good husband,  he knows how much I love it and was happy for me on Tuesday (Jan. 21, 2014).   I have always lived in the south --and have seldom seen much snow.  SO---I keep saying:  Bring it on!!!!  (The frigid temperatures we have been having are NOT my idea of fun though... Guess I can't have it all!)

Today,  I'll share with you (I know that you KNEW that this post was coming--ha ha) some photos I took around our home/yard that day.  Hope you enjoy the photos.  Be sure to enlarge them for bigger shots.  (Apologies to my northern friends who have had more than enough snow in their areas!)

I call this a 'white out' --as the snow POURED down on us!

Another photo looking into our backyard toward the golf course fairway

Another photo of our Rhododendron, as it continued to snow!  (That is the heated birdbath.)

Our Holly Bushes in the front of the house

This is a photo of the bushes in our neighbor's yard (on the upside of our home);  I can see this from my kitchen window.

I love it when snow collects on all of the trees/limbs.  That is one of our Redbud trees in the front yard.

That is a photo showing how heavy the snow was at that time.  This is the neighbor's home across the street.  They live in Michigan and are seldom here.  (Can't believe they are not here now instead of being in Michigan!!! ha ha)

Here's another photo of the Rhododendron --after it continued to snow.  (I took these photos at different times during the morning.)

Here's another photo showing the neighbor's yard above us...

Our flag in the front yard;  I love seeing the colors when it's snowing!

Finally --this is the next morning!!!!  I love seeing that blue sky and the white ground with shadows!!!!  Glad it is OVER ---but it's still very COLD outside!
Hope you enjoyed my Snow Photos.... It wasn't a big snow --but it was PRETTY to me!!!! On Monday,  I'll share some photos of my Backyard Birds this week at the Bird Kitchen. They are eating LOTS and LOTS ---and I feel sorry for them in this cold weather.

Have a great weekend.  I'll see you on Monday.  I'll be working on my Family History this weekend.

Hugs,

  2. Happy for you... and happy for me that IT WAS YOU and not me! LOL!

We've got nasty rain and sleet and I don't want that, either.

  3. Betsy I just loved them!! I'm with you bring the white stuff down. Doesn't it just transform your world into a winterwonderland?! The final image was the icing on the cake!

  5. flag etiquette --- inclement weather it should be taken down. And I'm like your dear hubby...no snow...bring on Spring!!!

Oh, and 2044 it snowed for you?!! Or is this just a test for us so you know just WHO actually reads your post.

Enjoy it all Betsy. I know you will.

  6. So cold! sounds a great time of the year.. beautiful captures..
    Have a nice day...

  7. ps...I stand corrected. Bud had to get out his Navy guidelines and the flag CAN BE FLOWN in inclement weather if it's water proof/weather proof material. I learned something today thanks to you.

Have a fun and warm weekend.

  14. It really is beautiful. We are due for more this evening, tomorrow and Sunday! Did I mention that the temperature hasn't gotten much past 5 or 6 degrees for days? Sorry George but spring won't come any sooner than mid-March. =(

    Best,
    Bonnie

  16. You know I am loving this post. Absolutely love seeing the white stuff as it falls. It's so rare that we do get to see it, so I'll just sit by my fire and look at your photos over and over again. It is cold here, but suppose to be in the 70's by tomorrow!!

  17. Wow. Good for you Betsy….it's about time that you get what YOU want. :)

  18. That's a lovely snowfall for pictures. You're right, a wet snow that clings to everything is the prettiest. We've had lots, but not like that. And don't apologize to us! I figure if winter is inevitable here you might as well learn to enjoy it, and therefore the more snow the better for all those winter activities people enjoy here. If only it weren't quite so cold!

  19. So glad you got your snow, Betsy. I know how much you love it. We don't have a lot on the ground right now, but we are expecting another storm to go through here tonight and tomorrow. The bitter cold just keeps hanging on. Hope you have a nice weekend.

  20. Betsy, I'm happy that you finally got your snow! However, I'm even more happy that I live in the valley and we didn't get any of your snow that hit the plateau! I'm with George... Spring can't come soon enough! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  21. I'm glad you finally have that snow you've been wanting. I'd like some here, too.:-) Just about the amount you had. We also heard this morning that you had -3 degrees! Our thermometer was at 4, though the TV said it was 6. Either one is cold enough!

    Warm hugs,
    Nellie

  22. Yay for you and your snow! It looks beautiful! Can you believe we even had a wintry mix in Southeast Texas and up at the lakes they had 2-4 inches so we will probably ride up there today and check on our trailer. (good excuse for me to take some snow pictures)

  23. You might want to rethink that title, LOL, particularly since the first sentence says that hubby is happy! I did a double-take, that's for sure! Glad you got the snow you wanted. We had some big snowflakes here the other day, but nothing stuck.

  24. Hi Betsy, Quite beautiful if chilly! It did get to freezing here last night and I had my one special Begonia covered. Your pictures of the snow are very nice! Have a good day and stay warm. Happy ancestor hunting this weekend.

  25. A very nice snow. I like to play in it and enjoy the change, but miss my flowers everywhere. It is a cleansing season. I have a nice firepit outdoors that is fun to sit around and have hot drinks and toast a few smores.

  26. Beautiful, snowy captures for the day, Betsy! It does look cold, but with a fireplace and great windows you see the beauty and stay warm!! Perfect! Thanks for sharing! Enjoy your weekend!!

  27. Love love love the snow pictures. We don't get much snow here either. Noting at all so far---well a tiny dribble in December.
But that last picture with the sun, shadows and blue sky---that's what it's all about. Have a great weekend. MB

  28. I love to see it snow, too, even though I don't like this real cold weather. I like it to be wet and clingy and love it when things are heavy laden with it. Just nothing more beautiful!

  29. I'm glad you got some Betsy:) I am smiling at the title of your blog post right now.....laughing a bit as well. After I read your post, I understood:) Snow is awesome....and even better are these pics! Enjoy it while it lasts. Meanwhile, a nice hot cup of tea or coffee would go nicely with this wonderful snow:) Have a good weekend! Lots of love. Chris

  31. Oh it is just so pretty and I am so envious. The only snow we had here was when I was in Florida and I missed it. Darn.
I am like you---it brings out my happy 6 year old. Enjoy, I am still hoping.

  32. I much prefer your flower pictures. :) Those pictures are beautiful. I've always liked snow......in pictures that is. So far we've had about 25 inches in January and they are predicting 4-8 more this weekend.

  33. I couldn't help myself, I had to snicker a little when I read that title!! Haha! I'm happy you are loving the snow. It's very windy and cold here today, but no snow. That is okay with me, the cold is bad enough. Enjoy your weekend!

  34. Betsy,
I love your header photo of the cardinal. It is fantastic. I also love your photos of the snow. They are very pretty. I also love the blue skies and shadows on the snow. Great shots of the beautiful snow.

  35. I still love that kind of snow. Most of what we get here during the winter is the stuff that blows around, and trust me,it does its share of blowing in my world.

  36. Beautiful pictures of your snow!! Love those wet snows, too. I especially like the picture of the snow clinging to the limbs of the trees! ♥

    It sure is pretty.
We are expecting more over night!!

  39. Your photos of the snow are lovely. Like you, I've lived in the South my entire life. I was born in Florida and did not see any snow until I was ten. I've always been thrilled to see even a few flakes. This year, however, I'm ready for spring. Maybe, that's because we're not having such lovely snow here in Nashville, but are just having arctic blasts. Sigh. Anyhow, your lovely photography is doing a little to revive my enthusiam for the white stuff.

  40. Pretty snowy scenes, Betsy! We have a lot of snow here too! The snow will not melt because it is so cold. have a happy weekend!

  47. Your snow is lovely, but I'm glad it fell on you instead of on me! Bitter cold here, but dry.

  48. Pretty photos of the snow, especially when the sun shines on it through the trees. However, I do hope we don't get any snow our way!

  49. Glad that you have got your wished for snow. It does look pretty and I am glad that I can see it on your blog and not outside my window. I love the look of it but not the accompanying temperatures. Like a few of your other commenters with naughty minds I giggled at your introduction. "Betsy got some and hubby is happy"

  52. Hello Betsy, ALl your photos are very lovely and I can see why you love the snow when you only get wee bits of it. VBG But Here in Michigan we've had 2 feet of it and our temps have been down to -25 degrees below zero. I am with your hubby I very much have a dislike for this amount of snow. Wish I was down in Tenn. VBg Hugs Judy

I find it all beautiful and look likea postcard. Lucky you to have such different landscapes from one season to another! Even so, I think I would freeze if I spent the winter in the U.S, he he. So, I'll stay here, it's more warm.....
Kisses and have a great winter there!!!
