This is Part II of our visit to see the Bearden High School/ Maryville High School football game on Sept. 30. If you missed Part I, chick HERE to see my precious grandson playing drums in the Bearden High Band.
Today, I'll show you a few more pictures from that fun-evening. Above is Landon's Dad (My fabulous son, Jeff) and adorable daughter, Avery---who were with us at the game. I am so proud of my son since he is in the process of losing alot of weight --and is doing so well. He is doing it the RIGHT way (proper eating and lots of exercise). Below are more pictures from the game.
We had a fabulous Fall evening in Knoxville, TN that night. Bearden High School is one of Knoxville's best schools --and you can see a little more of their facilities including a fairly new athletic complex.
Bearden is known as the Bulldogs ---and their colors are maroon and white... Before the game, the team ran on the field to the CHEER of the crowd.
The band (including one of the bands from a neighboring elementary school) was on the field --and the cheerleaders held up the sign ---for the football players to run through.
Now you can see the team running through ---while the bands played their pre-game music.... SUCH excitement!!!!!
We were sitting near the top ---and the cheering section was right below us... You can see the cheerleaders in front leading the crowd in their cheers. Even the row of 9th graders (standing in front of the bands) are getting into the cheers!!!! Landon is 3rd from the left end.
The sun was setting behind us ---but we still saw some gorgeous skies while watching the game... I laughed and told my son that I was busy looking at the sky instead of the football game!!!!!! (Typical photographer, huh?)
Here's a picture of the night sky --with the lights of West Knoxville very obvious in the distance... All in all, it was a great evening (even though Bearden did lose the game)----and brought back alot of memories of all of the many years I was in the band and attending football games.
Being in the band is alot of hard work --as Landon will tell you! I remember that myself --since my band also participated in many festivals, competitions, etc. I remember practicing every afternoon after school and also most weekends...
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I hope you are enjoying Autumn. We have had some very cool weather the past few days... We even had a frost advisory on Sunday night --but luckily, no frost (since we still have beautiful roses blooming). BUT---we did have a roaring fire in the fireplace all day on Sunday and again last evening... LOVE it!!!!!! Think it's time for some good home-made Chili, don't you????
Hugs,
Good morning Betsy,
ReplyDeleteLooks like I finally made it to the front of the comments line for a change! I can tell that your son has indeed lost a lot of weight since the last pictures you posted. Congrats to him! Love the Knoxville lights!
Jane
Great shots! Wow what a high school they have got there. Football must be an important sport!!
ReplyDeleteThat was also a great looking marching band. So cool to see them bring out all of the percussion equipment. My Jake has been a little frustrated playing in the pep band at our varsity games - the band just doesn't get any respect! Most of the kids won't play in it because they get made fun of!
Sometimes I think we made a mistake moving back to Clarence. Such a stretch of wealth (trailer parks to mansions) - but the respect for humanity and one another is lost. I am so sad for the future my sons will live in.
Now I know why my mom often quoted "Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus, come now" and times are worse now than when she was here.
Does the whole town go and watch when they are playing.
ReplyDeleteThe uniform looks very impressive,
In New Zealand, they play Rugby or Rugby league.
I don't know much about football but I always did enjoy the atmosphere of the games and the cool, Autumn evenings. You captured some great shots. Nice to see photos of your son, grandson and granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteWe've been in the 40's the last 2 mornings. I know you and George have enjoyed your fireplace. Take care and have a great day.
It looks like it must have been a perfect evening to sit in the stands.Your granddaughter is a beautiful young lady.
ReplyDeleteI just heard the forecast for today and it is to go to 25C,that is a little to warm for me.
Blessings,Ruth
One of our daughter's plays the flute in the marching band here, such excitement! Chili sounds delish! I have a pot of homemade stew beef already simmering this morning....HELLO FALL!
ReplyDeleteHi, Betsy! Looking at your pictures brought back memories of being at my own high school football games---very exciting. I was the yearbook photographer, but some were frustrated that I took more pictures of people on the sidelines than the game itself! I just found the spectators more interesting, I guess. :-) Your grandchildren are so good-looking---I know you are proud of them. And congratulations to your son for the weight loss---good for him!
ReplyDeleteI am loving this cooler weather. I always start feeling frisky with the first nip in the air. I did hate turning on the heat, though.
What wonderful days you have captured with your camera! Your lovely grand-children and your son shall treasure thes pictures for years to come. I can just hear them now - "Mom went with us to the game in the fall of 2010. That's the year Dad was losing weight!" You do have a knack with that camera Betsy.
ReplyDeleteFun photos Betsy!
ReplyDeleteOh yes ~ our Autumn here is bringing us the most beautiful weather. Mother Nature is taking pity on us after sending all that rain all summer! :)
Chili and the fire place ~ yup ~ it sounds good to me!
xo Catherine
I am so ready for chili! I just need to make myself make it. Your pictures are great. I love the sky one, too. I think it is wonderful that your son is losing the weight. My son has lost 75 lbs. on weight watchers and looks and feels like a different person. I am so happy for both of them that they decided to do this! That header just makes me want to walk right into it every time I come over here.
ReplyDeleteYou make me laugh....liking cold weather. The atmosphere at the football match looked exciting. Our football is so different to yours.
ReplyDeleteI have not been in a football stadium since i graduated in 1962, these photos took me back and i could actually here the drums and the screaming. looks like perfect weather. love the night view. the sky is gorgeous and your header and background are magnifco
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of having chili today for dinner. I made beef stew the other day. Soups, stews, chili .. all good for cold days!
ReplyDeleteHigh school football is such a big deal, especially here in the south. Looks like a beautiful night you had.
ReplyDeleteWe've had much cooler temps too but no rain. Everything is just dying.
I miss those high school football games!! My high school was Jefferson and our colors were maroon and white (fight fight). We braved wind and rain to view those games!
ReplyDeleteWe are still colorless around here. I think I need to copy your header and paste it to my windshield!!
Best,
Bonnie
Good Morning, Betsy!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures bring back memories of when one of my sons played football! He was a Trojan, and looked so manly in his uniform!
Yep, the weather is getting pretty nippy at night now. I forgot to look for frost when I let the kids out.
Congrats to your son and his weight loss. He really is your son, with the loss, he looks more like you.
ReplyDeleteLoved the shots and had to laugh a bit. They are really mom shots, band, sky, running on to field, etc. Not one of the actual game.
Way to go Mom.
Very frosty here right now but the roses keep on blooming!! I don't know how they do it!
ReplyDeleteI need to get on your son's program and lose some weight as well!! Congrats to him, he'll feel better for it!!
Beautiful family, gorgeous skies, happy children...what more could we possibly require?
ReplyDeleteYou'd never know you're a pround mom and grandmom :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing your Son and grandkids!
Funny that this school field has the bleachers only on one side, must be smaller than our schools down here.
Love that sky!
Exciting time. what a perfect evening for a football game. I feel the excitement.
ReplyDeleteMy grandsons 12 and 10 both play football and I take them to practice 3 days a week after school. They play their games on Saturday morning.
My high school didn't have a football team--oh maybe because i went to an all girls school. haha!!!
MB
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah,the joy of HS Football!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like a cool night, a grandstand full of cheering kids, a marching band, and a football game!
ReplyDeleteFor 2 different jobs, we lived in Bearden. I loved that section of town. Close to shopping. Close to downtown. And right on the greenway!
ReplyDeleteOh wow I like Football, especially taking pictures of em, when they crush each other and that long way to go for touchdowns! Man I would like to watch High School footballs. Sadly, it ain't even popular here in the Philippines.
ReplyDeleteMy ex-boyfriend did play for Meadowbrook back in High School and he can only tell me of the loud cheering of the crowd, how it feels really good to play out there.
What great and colorful pictures!! And I love how you captured the one of the players running through the banner! I would have been excited myself, and I know nothing about football! I can see your grandson in the crowd again, because he's still holding the drumsticks!! He must have a passion for them!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of the game.....
ReplyDeleteThe colors just pop!
I love the sky one/ha
What a fun time. Congratulations to your son, losing weight is hard and anybody who can and is to be admired. Diane
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful night at the game you had with the family !
ReplyDeleteI smiled when I saw they were called the Bulldogs, since this is the name of our local universtiy's
football team...the Cumberland Bulldogs, same colors too !
You have such a handsome son, congrats to him on the weight loss journey, it's a lot of dedication, and the granddaughter, well she's precious and pretty as a picture.
I made chili Sunday night, and now we're supposed to get up to eighty degrees again tomorrow ! The weather is balmy...
Oh I love your pictures!! That school looks amazing!! I have posted some fair pictures today and hope to post float pictures tonight.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures of your fun night at the football game!
ReplyDeleteHaving a fire in the fireplace is a cheerful thing in cool or cold weather. I always enjoyed that back home as a kid!
I been thinking it is about time for some chili, too! I love soups any time of year, but Roger doesn't care much for them in summer.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and family fun. I am thinking it is time to make some Taco Soup and get it in the freezer.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!!! Love seeing your beautiful family!!!
ReplyDeletethere's nothing better than a great
ReplyDeleteband during a football game.
you glorious sunset photo is amazing.
Isn't it fun to watch the grandkids enjoying their school years. Time goes by so fast after they get out of diapers... doesn't it, Betsy!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful school.
I guess you and George will just have to snuggle to get warm ;) Enjoy!
No better way to "kick off" the fall season then with some high school football! Oh how I remember those days when my son played football in high school. It really was great to get home in front of that warm fire and thaw out!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunset shot too, Betsy!
Fall and Football...go hand in hand. And the cool weather has certainly been nice. We have been into football here with Katy cheering. And keeping up with the Titans. George is really the BIG football fan. I like to check the scores while doing something else but he watches EVERY move. Have a great rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteSo nice that you got to visit with your son and grandkids, Betsy. Great pictures with this post. I would have been looking at the sky instead of the game too! HA! :D
ReplyDeleteI love the Maryville area, Maryville college recruited one of my son's to play basketball there. After several trips over there I fell in love with the area but he didn't and choose another school,oh well.
ReplyDeleteWe are suppose to have our coolest night tonight,I've got my fingers crossed against frost.
Have a blessed tomorrow
Marilyn
My oldest Grandson plays football also. So much fun!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had an exciting day! :)
ReplyDeleteI just came from George's post on Landon. He is a handsome young man.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your son on the weight loss. It takes willpower - something I don't always have enough of. :)
It's been cool and rainy here too for a few days. Today I put flannel sheets on the bed!
Chili sounds wonderful and you might just have decided tomorrow's dinner for me. A bowl of chili and a grilled cheese sandwich!
very clear photos. looks like a great time. good for your son in weight reduction. thanks for your comment re post about dogs. ys, it's harder to get away when you have a pet. rose
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Betsy, it looks like a great high school.
ReplyDeleteFootball is another sign of fall. I remember the chill in the air at the first games of the season. I never missed a game when I was in high school. My hubs was the high school football star, too bad we were across the country from each other at the time!
Frost? Curl up next to the fireplace with a bowl of chili and have a great evening.
PS, the last time I was in Knoxville was for the World's Fair. Remember those?
ReplyDeleteI love the father-daughter photo, and it's great to see that high school football/band enthusiasm. My boys were in the band in junior high.
ReplyDeleteNice to have those first autumn fires. You should definitely make some homemade chili and enjoy staying warm.
It was nice to see your son and grand daughter Betsy! The football game looked very well attended and lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteI loved the sunset sky..so colorful!
We are warm and you have frost! The weather is crazy!
It was our 36 wedding anniversary yesterday :) so we were out celebrating and went to a concert last night..fun..but now I'm so tuckered out I can hardly keep my eyes open.
I am enjoying autumn so much this year. The sceneries are awesome and I made sure that I am always armed with my camera. And yes, I love football.
