Fall Colors have Arrived in the Glade
I know that I just showed some Fall pictures yesterday ----but our Fall colors (just the past couple of days) are GORGEOUS here... As you know, we are very DRY---so most of the color is YELLOW --with a little red... I don't think it will last very long because of the drought... BUT--it's pretty right now!!!
Both George and I got out late yesterday afternoon with our cameras to take some pictures in our yard... I picked out a few to share with you today. We also need to go out with our cameras in the mornings for a different perspective --when the sun is in the front instead of the back... Our Maples have not changed yet ---and they are always gorgeous in the Fall. But--we do have some pretty color today!
Above is a picture taken while looking over the top of the house.. Isn't it amazing how much the trees have turned in just a few days? Below are more... Hope you enjoy our Autumn photos.
Recently, I showed a couple of pictures of our home from the front, looking toward the back of the house.. IF you go back to yesterday's post, you will see those pictures... THIS (above) is what it looks like now!!!! Amazing, huh, how the colors can change so quickly???? Wow!!!
This beautiful red bush is one of MANY in Fairfield Glade... It is called a Burning Bush. This bush is in our neighbor's yard next door---but we enjoy its beautiful red color....
This is a picture from the side yard in the back --looking toward the deck... You can see all of the beautiful colors we are experiencing in the back yard. NOTE also the brown grass in the backyard.... Have I mentioned how DRY it has been here?????????
There is a little bit of red showing through on our gorgeous red tree in the front yard. We'll show a picture of this tree again when it turns totally red... It's another fav of mine!
Finally, our beautiful Redbud tree near the front porch is looking pretty with its yellow leaves. Some years, this tree turns bright yellow in Fall --and other years, it does not. I think the drought helps the leaves to turn yellow... Maybe that is one good thing to come out of a drought!!!! ha
This pretty Redbud leaf is for CHERYL in MAINE since she collects hearts!!!!!! Isn't this a pretty leaf?????
I will close with a picture of 3 blooms of our Veterans Honor ROSE ---all at different stages. This is such a beautiful rose ---and I wish you could smell it... Fall is a great time for our roses to show-off... They will bloom until frost and freezing temperatures appear.
Have a great day!!!! I know that we will!
Hugs,
Great photos - our colors have only just started to appear. Be careful in your travels today,
ReplyDeleteJane
The fall is my favorite of all seasons, and you have captured its arrival of colors so beautifully! I am just noticing how the colors have arrived here in Virginia.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!
Love the rolling hills in your header, I also love your home framed in the fall colors. Is that a burning bush...? Have a fun and safe trip...(this is the second time I have tried to post a comment)
ReplyDeleteWell I know I can never get enough of fall colors Betsy. They don't stay around very long so a person has to take lots of photos to remember. I am hoping the snow stays away for at least another month though. Could we be so lucky?

Beautiful! I couldn't help but notice the little table on the deck.Looks like a perfect spot for a cup of tea,and I did notice also that there was an extra chair. :)Does this sound like I am inviting my self over? Get back to reality Ruth.
ReplyDeleteHope your day is fantastic.
Blessings,Ruth
You and George have done such a beautiful job with your front yard but I really like the woodsy look of you back yard. You have the best of both worlds.
ReplyDeleteWe are getting close to peak here also. I smell road trip.
So glad Mother Nature decided to put on her prettier clothes for you. We are seeing the color too! Enjoy your drive.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures, Betsy! The red shrub looks kind of like one called Burning Bush. We saw lots of those in the mountains planted in the medians. When we were up there, the Foothills Parkway was the most colorful place we found!! The color was simply 'eye popping'!! Make lots and lots of pictures!
ReplyDeleteI think it is a Burning Bush...not sure...Love all this glorious color you're having...Have a "colorful" day!!!
ReplyDeleteYour colors are lovely, Betsy. It is surprising how quickly they change. I can't believe how much they have changed here the past few days.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how much color you have with how dry it is.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing it with us Betsy.
I love it when the small touches of color start--they mean a blaze of color will soon follow!
ReplyDeleteHave a great "ride" today. I'll look forward to your posts of what you and the camera see.
Best,
Bonnie
Beautiful colors, Betsy. The red bush is called Burning Bush or Euonymus alata---planted in the sun it turns bright red but planted in the shade it usually stays green. Odd eh? MB
ReplyDeleteI love the fall leaf colors - if only we could figure a way that they all fell in the neighbors yard.
ReplyDeleteIt's really beautiful to see the colors you are seeing in the Glade. As I drove home from Church Sunday I noticed that there is still very very little color on the mountain here in the South Cherokee Forest. Your colorful entry gives me hope that ours will soon be turning. Great post, Betsy. Have fun on the Foothills!
ReplyDeletelove the view from the deck and the big yellow redbud leaf. all the photos are just plain gorgoues. off to the dentist, more later
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, I love the photos you have shared today. Funny how quickly the leaves can get colorful! Your deck looks like a wonderful place to enjoy the cooler temps and colorful foliage. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely, lovely! I really admire that Burning Bush! We are facing somewhat the same effect of the dry season here. I noticed yesterday that a couple of dogwoods in the area have a lot of color, and one Bradford Pear down the street.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Betsy!
ReplyDeleteYes, you're getting color, very nice! I don't know why, except maybe the drought, but the leaves are just drab here. I keep looking for something pretty, but it's not happening here. Being so close, I think it odd. So many of the softer woods are just losing their leaves. The yard is covered in leaves - we just need a good stiff wind to blow them away.
I like your little radar widget, I see that maybe some of that chance of rain does give us a chance, but we need a 3 day soaker!
Have a great day!
It DOES amaze me me as to how the colors seem to change overnight!
ReplyDeleteThat burning bush is absolutely startlingly beautiful! (Have you seen Moses, by any chance?) :)
So beautiful Betsy! It's either still green on the trees here or already dried brown and fallen off. Maybe we will get a little color before fall is over. Just love your photos!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised you neighbor can keep a Burning Bush. We've tried, but the deer think it's candy we planted for them. Predictions around here are for a very short leaf season.
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, Hooray for the little splash of rain we got here this morning - some is better than none. My grass is pretty crispy in places too. Your pictures really are a good representation of our Fall color so far here. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to head to the mountains one day this week. Keep your fingers crossed that I will see some fall color!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty fall colors, this is such a lovely time of year.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy...it won't be long before it will be rake time! A lot of our leaves are on the ground.
☼ Sunny
Beautiful pictures and fall colors! It actually makes me appreciate Fall so much more looking at it through a camera lens and other's perspective of it's change being beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful house, yard.. area!! I've live in the country before and loved it this time of year Best!
I'm looking forward to you making me appreciate winter too later, with pretty pictures! :-) (It may take a lot of pictures though. lol)
Have a wonderful week!!
Hugs,
Coreen
Betsy: Fall has come to the mountain for sure.
ReplyDeleteWow Betsy!! What a difference a day makes, as the old song goes!! They can change so very quickly! Here on the mountain, many times you just have two or three days, and then it's over. My fave is the leaf!!! Is the whole bush yellow now, can you post it tomorrow? Your leaf is so pretty!! I was taking pictures of leaves yesterday, none came out this good, so I'm trying again today! I go wild with the camera in the fall!!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful colors... Ihope they are still holding on this weekend. I am heading east to the UT Open House.
ReplyDeleteBetsy,
ReplyDeleteI love your beautiful fall photos. It sure is lovely around your home. Your header photo is magnificent. Thanks for sharing your splendid autumn shots.
i can see why you can't resist taking shot
ReplyDeleteof all the beauty around you! we are just
beginning to turn here, and i get so
excited over one leaf!
i love your heart shaped one!
I lost my Veteran's Honor to a frigid winter two years ago, so I really enjoy seeing yours. I love the colors in the one picture which shows your patio in blue tones, against the yellow leaves it's grogeous. Diane
ReplyDeleteDear Betsy, thanks so very much for thinking of me! I loved the photo! All of the photos were so pretty, especially the roses. Thanks so much, it made my day!
ReplyDeleteoh Betsy this is just so beautiful I do love fall, thanks for sharing, lots of love Barbara
ReplyDeleteAh, we are commenting at the same time Betsy, wonderful garedn, such a lovely place you have.
ReplyDeleteYou live in a world of beautiful seasonal changes, Betsy.
ReplyDeleteI'm a tad jealous of your colorful autumn leaves but not of the nutty raking ;)
Our tress are not that pretty here. Usually have to have a frost before they look like yours. However, my roses and other flowers are blooming more now than in the spring.
ReplyDeleteYour yard is gorgeous in every season, but the fall colors are just beautiful! Love the burning bush, which I've never seen before, and the golden yellow of the maple. We have very little color here, but some yellows are beginning to show.
ReplyDeleteWow Betsy, fall has really arrived in your yard. What a difference a few days can make. I am still waiting for the color to hit our neighborhood but the leaves are just beginning to show a touch of yellow. Even my burning bush is still green.
ReplyDeleteI love that last leaf, it is a very cool heart.
Those big trees behind your house really changed color in a short time, didn't they? I noticed the colors on the hill to the right of our house was gloriously colored today. I didn't get out, though, to get a picture.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Betsy! I think this is the most beautiful time of the year. God in his glory of color!
ReplyDeleteIt is so funny that two of our maples are split in half, vertically: one side red, the other side green. Go figure.
Beautiful pictures Betsy. I'm wondering what leaves will be left on the trees around here tomorrow because we are having rain and high winds tonight. We drove to Sam's tonight and the roads are covered with leaves blown off the trees already.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed tomorrow
Marilyn
I love seeing all of your fall color.
ReplyDeleteYour deck is just begging for you guys to dine there, isn't it??
First I looked at all then pics, and then just closed my eyes and spent some time with you on your deck, taking in the sunshine and the warm sun. Hope you don't mind! I had a lovely time and thank you for the delicious tea! Everyone needs a mental break and spiritual refreshing time. A dear, dear friend of mine and also of many where I work, died in a car crash yesterday. That's the 4th friend in the last five weeks. It's painful, but we know we'll meet at Jesus feet. Hugs, Karin
ReplyDeleteYour house looks lovely nestled amongst the Autumn trees. As good as a postcard. Those roses are tough, still blooming in the dry and cooler weather. Wish I could grow roses
ReplyDeleteYou do have some beautiful color! I'm beginning to see more here and need to take some photos.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors, Betsy! Our trees are just about to begin turning. We had a hail storm last night so I'm glad there are still some leaves left ..lol! The weather has been so strange this year!
ReplyDeleteDo you eat a lot of your meals on your deck?
ReplyDeleteMy husband doesn't want a house that needs a lot of work. He wants a townhouse. I don' mind, all the time I spend on the computer makes me neglect the garden.

ReplyDeleteDear Betsy and George,
I feel sort of stalking you. I was reading your old post and looking at your post posts because I like to know more of this marvelous couple. I feel that we have become such good friends.
I am glad God gave you both a second chance of happiness. You two are a great example of Love.
You know what, my Chinese name is Snow. And as Betsy says, it was Snow that brought you together.
Cheers,
Ann
Hello Betsy, i wonder if you know there are souls who have not seen Autumn! I am one of those and i wonder why i've been deprived of such privilege. We only have dry and wet seasons, maybe you will pity me for living on the other side. But of course we have other advantages, as we continually have flowers and greens, our gardens don't need to always be replanted like yours after winter. We have lots of butterflies all year round, and so on, and so forth! But your header really mesmerize me, and more envy comes whenever i look at it. How i wish i can have that for my desktop, haha! Can you spare me that luxury. Next lifetime i will be living there, in a temperate country like yours, i will be an artist to savor all those colors. How awesome. Moreover, i love what your header says! Great. thank you.
ReplyDeleteGlorious!!!!!!
ReplyDeletedon't ya just love the pops of red!
ReplyDeleteThe fall colors are beautiful, Betsy, and it's great to have roses still blooming at the same time.
ReplyDeletefall is indeed my favorite season because of the color. i just love the landscape during this season because it seems that they are always changing or playing tricks on me.
