More Birdies
Yesterday I showed you some of my Backyard Birds... Today, I'm only showing two different birds--but these are my fav's... Hope you enjoy the pictures of the Pileated Woodpecker (who comes to the suet feeder OFTEN recently) and the Eastern Bluebirds (who also are coming everyday, now that it is so cold). I love both of these birds ---and can't get enough pictures of them!!!! Hope you enjoy them too.
The Blues come to the deck and feeders in groups. The front center is the male, and the rest are females.
Mr. Blue wanted to show off his pretty blue feathers!!!
The female says: "Hey Lady... Don't leave me out. Wanna see...
...my pretty feathers also???? I'm just as pretty as the Mister, don't you think?"
"Oh My... please don't show this one... I haven't been to the groomer yet today!"
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
"Peek-a-boo! Do you think she sees me???"
"Okay.... I've searched ALL around. I think the coast is clear... Here I go!"
"Hmmmm... This looks pretty yummy, don't you think?"
"I wish that lady would make this feeder just a 'tad' bigger for me!! BUT--I can still dig in!"
"Heaven... I'm in heaven.... This is just TOO GOOD... Yummmmmmy."
Hope you enjoyed seeing my birdies these past two days.
"They" say that we'll get some snow on Thursday. WELL---"THEY" have said this many times before and "THEY" have been wrong. We shall see what happens tomorrow!!!!
Hugs,
Those are beautiful. Only one thing wrong with them .... they make me want spring to return more quickly. :) That woodpecker looks like he's got his eye on you.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I love seeing that Pileated! I know we have them around here, but I've never had one at my suet feeder.
ReplyDeleteAnd, of course, I adore your blues. :c)
All wonderful shots, Betsy, but I really, really love the ones of the Pileated---they are superb. I always enjoy seeing the Pileated---they are sort of goofy-looking, yet beautiful at the same time.
ReplyDeleteYep, I saw all of those birds yesterday! How do you get such good pictures?
ReplyDeleteYour Pileated reminds me of 'Woody Woodpecker'...Remember him??
ReplyDeleteEverytime I see their head going back and forth I just laugh, BUT when I see their shadow fly overhead I think it's a Very LARGE RAPTOR!!! (but its only Woody)
Thanks for sharing your beauties with us Betsy...
~Marilyn
Oh your birdies are so darn cute! I love Woody Woodpecker. Great pictures, Betsy.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day.
Sunny :)
These are all so cute and funny.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get your snow!!
It is 10 degrees there today??? Gosh, I hope you are hunkered down in front of the fireplace!
This makes me sad that we don't get bluebirds! I so wish we did but wishing won't make it happen!! Not here anyway, I guess we're too far north.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful woodpecker, we have these but they stay high in the trees and won't come close to the house.
I always thought Woody Woodpecker was just an artistic creation till I saw a Pileated Woodpecker. Woody does exhist.
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of your Blue Birds. All those nestlings you had are calling you home.
We don't get Bluebirds too often but I love them.
ReplyDeleteI hope "They" will be right this time on the snow! We need some snow!
Amazing to see those bluebirds and Pileated Woodpeckers coming right up to your deck and feeders. Terrific pictures, Betsy!
ReplyDeleteWow, and they are so many, so beautiful and so colorful. And the photographer, she captures them all so nicely. Enjoyed it Betsy.
ReplyDeleteI love the variety of birds you have. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteGoodmorning, love your bird photos! Lucky you. Those are two birds I never get at my farm. Don't know if there are any pileateds in the area. We do have bluebirds but there are so many house wrens around my farm I don't dare try to attract blues to my birdhouses.
ReplyDeleteMarnie
I enjoyed all the captions of these pics Betsy. The pics of the woodpecker are fantastic! You did a great job capturing them.
ReplyDeleteHope you get some snow on Thursday. We have a 60 percent chance of some tonight and tomorrow.
Personally, you can have my share.
Absolutely delightful to see all these lovely birds ... and I enjoy your sense of humor as you present them. Love the 'ungroomed' one and the woodpecker series. I shared 'winged' critter at Sacred Ruminations yesterday that you might enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
I am sending you a woodpecker video that you will not believe!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I love your new header photo of Mr Blue Bird. When I first saw Mr woodpecker he looked like he had been shot in the chest by the closeline. You are lucky to have beautiful visitors, Betsy.
ReplyDeleteReally great photos, Betsy. I never see those types of birds here, so I enjoy seeing yours. :)
ReplyDeleteLove that woodpecker! I'm hoping to get to see one of those! Good job with the photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat picks today Betsy. Loved the one of the woodpecker peeking over the top of the post.
ReplyDeleteHope you really do get some snow. -17.7C here this morning (0.14F). My turn to take Mingus out this morning. He's sleeping in at the moment.
I love the little E. Bluebird. They are so sweet looking and we don't have them out here. The Pileated we see here and I love to watch them fly---in the breast stroke sort of way. MB
ReplyDeleteOh I meant to tell you that Mt. Baker I posted in my previous blog is not the same mountain I usually show. The one I see from my house is Mt. Rainier and she is 14,800ft. I can't see Mt. Baker from my house because she is east of me and there are too many trees in the way. I have to go down the hill and then she rises above. But Mt. Baker is the one I always show in my header. MB
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, Betsy. Have you seen that little sign with the mad baby bluebird? Some of these seem to have that little scowl which is just delightful.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, cheery photos Betsy! I love the photo of the bluebird family. I hope your wish comes true for snow!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. The blue is very nice, but the red-head has a brilliant color :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice photos here. I've said it before and I'll say again, the Pileated looks prehistoric to me. We have a lot of them and I smile everytime I see them!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bird photos. The female bluebirds are beautiful too. And you got some amazing shots of the pileated woodpecker.
ReplyDeleteI just can't get over the great pictures you get. How do you get them to cooperate with you so well. I guess its all that good food. They all look like little butterballs.
ReplyDelete♥ Joy
Oh Betsy - you got some really good pics! And the dialogue is funny!
ReplyDeleteLove those birdies!
Betsy these photos (as well as what those SMART birds said!) are great. Love the Eastern Bluebird. Their colors are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWe are back in AZ now, so no more snow for us, though I'll probably be posting some pics from up there soon. X-C
Betsy: Those are two birds that I wish I had at my feeder. They are quite beautiful. I love your camera work.
ReplyDeleteThey are so beautiful!!!!..m.
ReplyDeleteLoved the pictures. The Pileated at the suet looks so funny. He does look just a bit too big,but it works.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,Ruth
Wow...your Pileated shots are great! How strange to see them hang on the suet feeder! I haven't seen one yet this winter. I have Bluebirds for the first time in winter, however.
ReplyDeletegorgeous shot of the Pileated woodpecker!! (also bluebirds, too)...We had a red headed woodpecker here but I couldn't get a close enough pic of it, as you do. You are amazing, Betsy boo!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow Betsy -- they are beautiful! I love the bluebirds ..what personalities they have! The woodpecker looks like Woody Wood pecker..lol...remember that cartoon?
ReplyDeleteDid you hear about the upcoming Audoban's "Bacyard Bird Count" survery" at www.birdcount.org? You would be a perfect person to take part in that!
Color me: JEALOUS!
ReplyDeleteThat pileated is STUNNING!
Oh gosh, I just love him.
I would be taking 100's of photos of him, he is GORGEOUS.
You are blessed!
Waaaaa! I want that Pileated Woodpecker!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blue birds too!!!
Guess what--I saw a blue bird ; western variety; with Diane at the Canyon yesterday. ;)
You sure are lucky to have them and to get those great pictures! way to go and I know you keep them well fed.
What a treat to see both of those birds up close and personal. I saw a pilated on Monday but he was way out in the woods. I took a couple of pictures but haven't had the time to download them. We're supposed to have some snow tomorrow also.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky can you be to have bluebirds in the winter....I don't even see them in the summer.
They are certainly beautiful birds. Loved your dialogue too. Mr Blue seems to have a hareme whil the other one looks like he is wearing a crash helmet. They must cheer you in winter.
ReplyDeleteAnother cute and amazing captures!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Betsy.
Regards.
I look at the woodpecker and I remember all the Woody Woodpecker cartoons I watched as a child. Great photos, you captured him well. The little bluebirds are adorable as is your new header.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Judy
Precious little blue birds and beautful red headed wood peckers. great shots of all of them. I found a new blog today and she is in lapland, she has a comment on her bird feeders you will like, i added her link on my site, Ulrika... you will love her photos and scroll down to the comment about feeder
ReplyDeleteBetsy, you did a fanstic job photographing the birs in action. Very exotic looking birds!
ReplyDeleteLove these pictures and these birdies!
ReplyDeleteI had a pileated come round once. First time I saw him I was like - "oh my gosh that is a huge bird"
I wish they would come back.
Your blue birds are beautiful. I have only seen them once around here. I did get a photo of them but they were way up in the tree - and I don't think my ISO was set right to be able to crop them closer once I got them on the computer!.
I think I would like to try the Suet 'stuff' and see if we get some other types of birds coming around.
It will have to wait til the week end - I just can't believe how crazy this first week back from break has been.
I am already looking to MArtin Luther King Day - isn't that sad ... to live your life waiting for the holidays!
I know it is just a chapter of life - but it is a crazy one!
Thanks for sharing such great pictures of your life!
Betsy, I love these photos!!!
