Waterfalls at Mt. Magazine (Arkansas)
While we were on vacation in Arkansas, we saw a total of 10 waterfalls with 5 of them new. That makes our total now at 306 different waterfalls. It's hard to believe that we've seen that many different waterfalls (many of them several times) since 2001. One of our days in Arkansas was spent at Mt. Magazine State Park (west of Mt. Nebo). At Mt. Magazine, there are six wet-weather falls. We've seen all of them a few times---but this time, there was more water coming over the falls than we've ever seen (due to all of the recent rains). We were SO excited. Here are pictures of four of these falls. Above is Jestice Creek Falls. Below are more of them. Be sure and click on the pictures to see them larger.
This is a close-up shot of Jestice Creek Falls.
This is one of my favorite waterfalls, Hardy Falls. This waterfall cascades all the way down the mountain--and is just so pretty to see.
Can you see George? He loves to climb around to get all kinds of different pictures.
This is one of the close-up pictures that George took while climbing around Hardy Falls. I love this picture showing the rocks, moss, lichens, etc. Neat, huh?
A close-up view of the bottom of Hardy Falls
This is Jestice Creek Cascades. Both Hardy Falls and Jestice Creek Falls flow under the road and then connect and flow on down the mountain. Note where they connect at the top of the picture. This is a beautiful cascade but it was hard to get good pictures due to the trees/brush.
Another picture of Jestice Creek Falls --as it flows down the mountain
The fourth waterfall is named High Falls. This was a brand new waterfall for us!!!!
Here's one last picture of High Falls!!! Hope you enjoyed visiting our waterfalls with us!
By the way, yesterday George and I celebrated our 93rd MONTH-aversary. We celebrated (like we do every month) by going out to dinner. When you get married at our age, you have to celebrate the months as well as the years!!!!! ha
Hugs,
I loved those Hardy Falls! You got some wonderful shots! I think you & george could write a waterfall travel guide complete with photos!! :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 93 month anniversary! Will you have cake??
Shelley
Betsy: Very nice shots of the falls. George really blended into the trees until the photo was enlarged.
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to your waterfall pictures. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteThe waterfall pictures are so pretty - I can almost "hear" them. I especially love the moss on the rocks. Happy anniversary to you two - any excuse for ice cream and cake, huh???
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Betsy! Why don't you create a Waterfall Magazine with a little info on each fall? Our weekend was busy and fun thanks for asking. We went to see Jeff Dunham and the Guitar Guy Friday night. Birthday shopping on Saturday and then birthday party on Sunday after Church!!
ReplyDeleteBetsy,
ReplyDeleteWhat an array of water fall pictures you have collected. Have you ever enlarged a fav and used it as deco in your new home?? I have a friend who took one of those wide angle (throw away) cameras you could buy at any store, he took several pics at their fav place in the Arcadia mtns in Maine and then enlarged his fav. pic. It was rectangualr in shape and was gorgeous!
So great that you guys celebrate your mos together. You certainly have started and kept many neat traditions within your honeymoon yrs!!
I had a hard time finding George there for a minute! Happy Anniversary to you both. I understand about the months at our age. The waterfalls are all just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful falls Betsy. I bet it is really pretty when everything is green.

Those waterfalls are gorgeous, I've been to Mt. Magazine. Am I confused or is that where the Car Museum is or is it Petie Jean?
ReplyDeleteCarol
Betsy, have you and George thought about putting together a photography book on waterfalls? You have so many lovely shots and little comments about each one. I'll bet it would fly!
ReplyDeleteI love the waterfalls! My parents used to own a vacation house in Sapphire Valley, NC.... and there were some gorgeous waterfalls through the woods (a nice little walk) called "The Narrows".... way back in the 80's, it was all but a Secret Waterfall. (Probably commercialized by now... who knows....) I have such wonderful memories of it. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE that you and George celebrate your anniversary each month - that is so sweet!
Happy Month-iversay! I so enjoy visiting your blog and looking at the photos. Makes me feel closer to my mountain home.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the one above him...at least from your pictures. But I like them all!
George is right in line with the tree behind him. I had to enlarge to find him. He is like the wildlife blending in. Love the photos of the waterfalls.

What a lot of waterfalls! I can't think of any around here to intice you to see....we are too flat on this side of the state. However, over on the east side along the Ohio there should be a lot...Clifty Falls for one.
ReplyDeleteVery nice---I can almost hear the sound of the water. :D
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of that falling water and I'm wondering...why you two don't take a short video and let us see it here? Do you video at those waterfalls?
ReplyDeleteYour Smokey Mtn. posts always make me homesick :) Did you see my Aunt Mahalia?
