I do like PANSIES --and we plant them in late FALL --in order to have some color in the yard during Winter....Most of the time, Pansies will last through a cold winter (unless it is extremely cold for a long period of time)... IF they make it through our fairly mild winters here, they will perk up BIGTIME in Spring --and will bloom until about mid-June or July (when it gets WAY too hot for them)...
This year's group did well --so I want to share some of the different colors and varieties we have had. Hope you enjoy seeing these pretty little flowers... They always make me smile!!!! You can click on the photos to see them larger...
Do you have a favorite? I love them all, especially in groups (like the top picture and the one just above here) --but a new one to our yard (I think) is the 7th one from the bottom... Very unique!!!!
I hope I made you smile today. I LOVE my Pansies --and miss them now that they are gone. BUT---we have planted a few VINCA to replace them. Vinca love sunshine and hot weather... Do you plant either Pansies or Vinca?
WELL---August is quickly upon us!!!! (I am SO ready for FALL --since we have had a VERY hot summer here.) Not sure I'll be blogging next week since it's my Birthday Week... Sweetie has a SURPRISE for me.... You'll hear all about it soon I'm sure!!!!
Hugs to ALL,
Wish you and George could come and fix my poor yard. I LOVE pansies. We can grow them all year round here.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job of choosing -- and photographing -- our pansies this year. They really did well!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your pansies. They're one of my favorite flowers and your are gorgeous. It's hot here too and although I absolutely detest winter I'm ready for some cooler weather.
ReplyDeleteHave fun next week my friend.
Blessings,
Betsy
Hi Betsy! Well, you KNOW how I love pansies! They are just as pretty separately or in groups of colors. Let's see...my favorites are two, five, seven...oh what the heck, I love them ALL! Also love your header!
ReplyDeleteOh I cannot pick a fav, seems like they are smiling at me! I would like to have pansies but? Early happy birthday! Enjoy it
ReplyDeleteThe Pansies did make me smile. They are so cheery.I sometimes plant them, but have not done so for a few years. Now,don't you go celebrating too much. You there comes an age when instead of celebrating hard one day,you spread it out over a week or even a month.Seriously, have a tone of fun.I know that George will spoil you and that is fantastic.Love my friend.Hugs
ReplyDeletePansies are my favorite flower. I've have never seen such a wonderful variety as yours. Those are the most awesome pansies I have ever seen.
ReplyDeletePretty! Pansies will only make it to about February here then it gets too cold.
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love pansies too, I miss them when they stop blooming in our hot summers!
ReplyDeleteI love all flowers really. We have some lovely wildflowers here, we have Yellow Daisies that will bloom in September and October, I can't wait for them to bloom!
I, too, love pansies; and I think my favorite was the same as yours if I counted right. It's the yellow one with the purple center and the lavender edges. I've never seen one quite like that. It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteNice selection of the Pansies! They're good for early spring here, and will reseed themselves, but won't survive the winter.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, Beautiful selection of pansies! You have such a colorful yard... How do you keep the deer from eating all the beauty? They regularly trim our bushes and they love my wife's hostas. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteThose pansies are so cheerful and delightful!
ReplyDeletePansies provide so much colour in the garden. My favourite is the first one, the delicate blue one.
ReplyDeleteI do love the sweet little faces of the Pansies but for some reason never plant them but I am a big time fan of Vinca and they thrive in the heat.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pansies, the colours are so lovely.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday Wishes
All the best Jan
Pretty sunrise Betsy. Pansies can provide so much color in a small space.
ReplyDeleteLove the pansies. They are nice. Maybe I will plant some this year too. At least by the front porch where people come in. Take care and have a great Sunday.
ReplyDeleteAn early Happy Birthday, Betsy! I'm eager to hear about your surprise!! In the meantime, those pansies are just beautiful. You're the most amazing gardener! Your yard is just spectacular in every season!
ReplyDeleteLove pansies. I gravitate towards the purple and blues, but I like them all. My spring ones are still blooming, but they are beginning to look a bit tired.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing those happy flowers.
ReplyDeleteHowdy Betsy...oh my goodness your flowers are beautiful! Y'all sure do have such pretty flower beds. I do love pansies and grow them all the time and yes, they do bloom all winter here. Mine are drooping bad in the heat wave right now. Happy early birthday to you---I hope it turns our wonderful and you'll have to let us know what your surprise is!

They are so delicate. I was I was a more reliable waterer. Mine tend to get raggy in the hot sun...:(
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful. I love pansies because they bloom in December. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
ReplyDeleteLovely...
ReplyDeleteYou always make me smile, Betsy. You and George are just about the happiest people I know...and I really don't know you, but feel like I do! Have a super day. My favorite pansies are the purple and yellow ones..but those red ones are new to me and they are sure pretty, too!
ReplyDeleteYour pansies are beautiful. I live in Nashville, TN and they last through the winter here as well -- brightening up the dull winter days. I especially love the purple and yellow ones. They have such sweet faces.
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, i am glad i came in here even a bit late. Pansies became favorites the first time i saw them in Sweden, Turkey and France. Unfortunately, they will not grow in our humid tropics. But everytime i see them, i get so inspired looking at those colors. I envy yours as they are so varied. I haven't seen those blues in real life, didn't know it exist. I don't know when i will be able to visit a temperate country again, so i can again some pansies. Thank you. Best regards to George too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Betsy! I look forward to reading about what George has in store for you. Those pansies are incredible, very pretty. It is hard to pick a favorite. Thank you for your sweet comments on my blog recently. They were so very much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteYour pansies are awesome! I love all the bright, beautiful colors.
ReplyDeleteLove the pansies! I am visiting for the first time. Our mutual friend Ruth Hiebert sent me and told me to wish you happy birthday, and since she is such a nice person, how could I not do so? Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteAnd happy birthday....visiting from Ruth's photoblog. And I've been here and enjoyed your blog before. Nice to see pansys ...The rabbits ate mine!
ReplyDeleteI love pansies too! They are such happy, pretty little flowers and some have a sweet scent. You have a wonderful selection of them.
