Happy Valentine's Day 2016

Hope all of you blog friends are having a GREAT Valentine's Day/Weekend.... Just remember that Valentine Celebrations are all about LOVE ---and we all need to keep the love going not just today,  but all of the time.

The weather has changed our celebration plans this week.  First of all,  we had a short trip planned ---which we had to cancel due to the weather...  Then today we were going down to Cookeville to have a fancy-dancy Valentines Dinner... BUT---with snow/sleet/ice all around us today,  we decided not to head down the mountain...

SO--what did we do to celebrate??????  WELL---we did something we had never done on Valentine's Day before:  we went to a local Mexican Restaurant near us here and had Fajitas for TWO.  Even though it wasn't 'fancy' --and we didn't dress up for a special occasion,  the food was GREAT.   We both enjoyed it ---and after getting home,  we enjoyed cuddling on the sofa by the fireplace --watching the snow come down (and being happy we were HOME).

The biggest surprise and JOY of the celebration weekend was getting a package from FedEx.... Guess what it was?   My middle son (Mark) and his wonderful girlfriend (Debbie) sent me a huge bunch of gorgeous ROSES from 1-800-Flowers....   The pink and red roses are so beautiful --and will only get prettier with each passing day as they open...

Adult children may not always realize how special it is for a parent to hear from them.  This Mama CRIED with so much love and joy inside of herself.   Mark and Debbie will NEVER know how much this gesture of love means to me....

Finally and most importantly,  this is for my wonderful husband, George.   Thank YOU for the gorgeous card ---and for always being there for me... I love you to the moon and back FOREVER.... Don't ever forget that....

Well Friends---as you can tell,  even though it wasn't what we first expected,  we did have a wonderful weekend... As my Facebook friends tell me,  just being with George is enough for me!!!!!!  SO TRUE..

God Bless You ---and remember to keep the LOVE going all year long.

Hugs,

  4. I'm glad your day is such a happy one. Dennis and I have a favorite local owned Mexican restaurant that we enjoy going to. We always order the chicken fajitas to share. Yum! We went to church this morning, but otherwise it's a fairly quiet day with him still recovering from surgery and me still not quite "up to snuff" with my heart issues. But, oh so thankful that we're together today.
    Blessings my friend,
    Betsy

  11. The day is almost over, but I still want to say Happy Valentine's Day! Sounds like you had a nice day at home. Those are often the best kind of days...relaxing at home. BG and I had loaded nachos for our Valentine meal. lol! Not everyone would pick that, I'm sure, but it sounded good to us. Have a wonderful week! Oh, I almost forgot...that's a great photo of you and George!

  12. Betsy, Heck...we didn't even leave the house for Valentine's Day! No snow but we just didn't feel like going out. Traded cards in the morning and then I cooked breakfast and dinner too... Relaxing day with plenty of love to go around. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  13. Aww, you and George are so romantic! We did our Valentine's dinner on Saturday because (a) the restaurants are crowded on the big day and (b) the restaurant I wanted to go to is not open on Sundays. I guess I'm very practical.

  18. You two are romantic 354 days a year. You don't need a special day as they all are but it seems you managed to make Valentine's day just a bit more special. You set the bar high.

  19. Sounds like a lovely Valentine's Day. I got my "present" a day early. I came home from 11 days in Tennessee to a clean house, flowers on the table, and groceries in the kitchen. Can't beat that!

  24. We had planned to spend a few days in the Smokies on our way back from Florida last weekend, but the weather forecast motivated us to skip that side trip and head straight for home instead. Sounds like we made the right choice, from your description of the weather. Your fajita meal looks like it was delicious, and what a sweet and thoughtful gift the roses were from your son and his girlfriend.

  25. Our experience on that special day was very similar. Stormy day and a small local restaurant. We had a great time too...:)

  26. We were snowed in on valentines too and had two boys with a stomach bug. Our power just came back on today. But I made a nice dinner and we never go out to eat anyhow. It sounds like you and George had a great time and I bet the fajitas were awesome!

  29. Hi Betsy, I think you were wise to stick local. We often used to eat at the Mexican place there in the little mini mall in The Glade. They also had one of the same restaurants in town near Walmart. I can't recall the name. The other Mexican place on Peavine up the road from the Interstate is also good. Yes, Fajitas are wonderful! Have a very good day tomorrow and a fine weekend. Enjoy the golf course and your beautiful"Glade!
