Ya Gotta Love WOODPECKERS

Red-Bellied Woodpecker
Most of you know that I LOVE my Backyard Birds... I have been feeding the birds for many years and my little birds enjoy the Bird Kitchen on our deck...  Lately,  I've been so busy doing so many other things that I haven't taken many recent pictures of some of my birds...  SO---today,  I went back in the archives and will share with you some of the good photos of the woodpeckers we have in our area ---who visit the Bird Kitchen.

Hope you enjoy these beautiful birds...  Be sure to click on the photos for enlargements.

Downy Woodpecker

Always a favorite,  a Pileated Woodpecker

A Hairy Woodpecker  (similar to the Downys --but MUCH larger)

Red-Headed Woodpecker (one my my favorites--and one of the prettiest birds)

Northern Flicker  (my favorite bird photo I think)

"Hey Lady---What are you looking at?"
I just had to share this funny photo of a Pileated Woodpecker with ATTITUDE!!!!!  Isn't he just a mess?????? ha ha

Hope you enjoyed my Woodpeckers today!  Have a great weekend.  George and I are still very very busy working in the yard (mostly blowing/raking/mowing leaves).  It's a huge job this time of year which doesn't leave much time for blogging!!!!

Hugs,

  16. I think the little Downy is my favorite, but don't tell the others. I don't want to cause a ruckus amongst them. Have a great weekend and don't work too hard!

  17. Betsy, Beautiful photos! Lots of patience on your part... Our house is surrounded by woods...lots of trees! We've seen all of these woodpecker varieties and we love them too. We don't see very many Flickers and sadly, one smashed into our big window on the deck and was killed a couple of years ago. We hated to see that happen... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

I love birds too - the best way to wake up is to hear them singing... I remember you posted on the Balckbirds that were mysteriously dying in your area. That just breaks my heart. Are they back again?
    Blessings,

  40. My favorite part of winter is watching the birds. I don't know where all my birds are lately. Hopefully they will be back when it gets colder. I have been seeing a cat hanging around and I wonder if that is keeping them away. Hope she isn't killing them.
