Playing in the TULIPS

George and I made another trip to one of our favorite places,  the Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville,  North Carolina,  on April  16, 2013 in order to see some of their Spring flowers,  specifically the TULIPS...  AND--we weren't disappointed... Above is a photo we took of us in the Walled Garden, near those beautiful tulips.  Be sure to click on the photos for enlargements.

Here is a picture I took from the  arbor (walkway between the gardens in the Walled Garden).  Isn't this just gorgeous?

Here is a close-up of some of the flowers  (there are others besides tulips) along both sides of the arbor.

I love looking at the gardens through one of the oval windows...

Now I'll share with you several other photos with no explanation.  Hope you enjoy seeing more of the TULIPS --from different areas of the gardens.  (NOTE also that there were LOTS of people around that day.  I love zapping them OUT of my photos!!!! ha)

Hope you enjoyed seeing all of the Tulips today!!!  We have had quite a few in our yard --but not nearly as many as Biltmore... WOW!!!!!

There is one more photo which I hope you have seen.  It is from my Photo Blog --and showed the Walled Garden at Biltmore from a distance (from the hill we climbed up on beside the gardens).  Click HERE to see that photo now that you have seen the tulips up close.

We did see other beautiful flowers on this latest trip to Biltmore --but that will be in another post!!!!

Hope you have a great weekend.  I will see you on Monday!

Hugs,

  4. Tulips did not do well here with our fluctuating temps this spring, so I'm thrilled to still 'see' some. Incredibly beautiful, Betsy. I esp. like the striated ones--white and yellow ones with orangish red stripes. And those maroon ones are awesome--I've not sen that color in a tulip before! Thanks for brightening my morning!:>)♥b

  19. The blocks of tulips in shades of one colour are very impressive, either up close, or even more so, far away. They look good in a formal setting like Biltmore.

  20. Now that is how to have tulips. By the zillions.
However, I think those two blue and green ones growing in the grass are pretty special also.

  37. I've never seen so many tulips in one place. I have to say it but I think I like this better than a rose garden. Well, until I seen a rose garden then I'll be back to that.

  41. Gorgeous photos! We were just there on Thursday with some out-of-town friends. We hadn't gone in about a dozen years, so we were shocked to see all of the changes that have occurred since then. Some good and some bad. But the gardens never fail to delight us. All the tulips were gone and replaced with blooming annuals. And would you believe that I didn't tag along a camera? LOL! I wanted to give our guests my full attention.

  42. That's amazing. How do they plant so many? Do they scoop back the soil and put down all the bulbs then dump soil over them? Or, do they put each in individually? Either way, beautiful!

  43. Wow - what stunning shots! So magical.
