Balanced Rock |
I am finally taking time to go back to previous trips where I did not finish posting pictures and blogs. This set is from our big Western Trip in June of 2011. We were gone from June 10-28---and on June 23rd, we visited THE ARCHES near Green River, Utah.
I published one blog post from our day at the Arches... IF you didn't see this post (or want to re-visit it), please click
HERE. In that post (October 14, 2011), I mentioned another upcoming post from The Arches. WELL---I never did get around to doing that 'upcoming' post UNTIL now.... Hope you still enjoy it!!!!!
Today, I will share with you more from The Arches ---including some of the actual ARCHES we saw that day... As I mentioned in the October post, we visited here toward the end of our trip ---and it was hotter than blue blazes that day.... We hope to go back to The Arches someday when it's not as HOT and when we are not as tired...

Hope you enjoyed all of the pictures... Those huge rocks and all of the 'designs' are excellent.... I enjoyed seeing all of the different rock designs as much as I did while seeing the arches...
It was fun going back through all of these photos and 're-living' that visit in 2011. That was special ---and now, I'm ready to go back there sometime. It's a gorgeous area ---SO--- go and see it --if you can!!!!
Have a great weekend. I am going to Georgia to attend a wedding shower for my future daughter-in-law... Should be fun!!!! Since George is going with me, we hope to find some time to do some waterfalling and hiking also!!!!! See you on Monday.
Hugs,
Betsy
Those DO look like elephants! It's amazing that it was hotter than blue blazes, yet you can see snow in the background.
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip to Georgia!
You know, I sat for like 45 minutes waiting for people to get out of the picture I wanted to take of the Delicate Arch! I just don't like people in my nature shots. Now I have a program to remove them! Where was that 25 years ago? What a beautiful place Utah is. Loved the Arches, Zion National Park....I'm forgetting one or two more, but it is one of the most beautiful states we have with ever changing ecosystems. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the party Betsy ~ and have fun on your adventure!

The Arches are on my list for a visit. Haven't gotten there yet, so your pictures were the next best. Enjoy the shower!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing place--the formations, the colors, etc.. The elephants are just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time at the shower and enjoy the time with your family.
Best,
Bonnie
Arches is beautiful! We went there on vacation a few years ago and I would LOVE to go back! Utah has several wonderful National Parks! Enjoy your weekend trip to Georgia. We are hoping to head north and do a bit of hiking this weekend too!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, I enjoyed tagging along on your trip to the Arches National Park!!! It was very hot when we were there also. The hiking was miserable! But in spite of it, we really DID enjoy seeing all the rock formations and arches. We will go back if we are ever back out there!
ReplyDeleteI have no doubt you and George will find the best waterfalls in Georgia!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a natural architecture of the arches! Wonderful capture on the arches and sandstone dunes and the blue sky is so fascinating at background... The Parade of the Elephants was interesting... and the snow capped mountain at far impressive against the hot weather!
ReplyDeleteI have seen Utah only in movie ‘127 hours’.
Have a great weekend celebration and fun hiking :)
I have never visited the Arches. It's on the list including a revisit to ZIon. Have you been there? I'm going to persuade Dan to fly to AZ to visit my brother and then drive to Zion to stay in the lodge there. We'll have to include the Arches if we can.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see these, but don't think I would have any desire to live there. Some of the places out west, I am afraid if I were there, that I would want to stay.
ReplyDeleteWe drove right by there during our trip out west- hoping one day to actually go in to the park- such beautiful scenery!
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, I've enjoyed seeing the photos of the arches. We didn't go by there on our trip out west a few years ago. We had so many places to see and so much ground to cover. There is So Much to see out west, isn't there? The highlight of our trip was the Grand Canyon and I want to see it again. The rest would be great to see, but if I only get to see the GC again, I'll be a happy camper!
ReplyDeleteHave a fun and safe trip to Georgia!
I saw elephants before I read the title. How amazing! The rock formations are so very interesting and COOL! This would make for another great trip for Sam and I!!
ReplyDeleteHave an enjoyable weekend...
Hugs,
shug
Wow what great shots. Amazing. That first photo looks as though that piece would break right off!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the shower!!
THose arches are something else. I would love to be able to visit all these special places.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time at the shower.
I've been to Arches a couple of times but don't remember seeing the elephants. I too remember it as being very hot---too hot to get out of the car and do much exploring.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.
just beautiful country!
ReplyDeleteLike so many others, this one's on my list, but haven't made it yet. Those elephants are pretty incredible. Have a great weekend - looks like it's going to be a nice one.
ReplyDeleteI've been to Utah numerous times and it is a very beautiful place. Your photos are terrific, Betsy! They brought back lots of fun memories! Have a beautiful weekend!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures...the elephants are great! Hope you enjoy your visit to our state and share pictures from the shower!
ReplyDeleteAn amazing place to be sure. If red is your favorite color, it's even better! GREAT photos Betsy!
ReplyDeleteWow! Amazing photos on the arches and balanced rock! I enjoyed all the photos and the blue sky is wonderful. I also love the elephant rocks...
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the wedding shower and enjoy the weekend Betsy!
Hugs

Those are such beautiful pictures, Betsy. They're so dramatic! It IS fun to go over them and re-experience your travels! I'll look forward to seeing waterfalls and other discoveries when you travel to Georgia! And what a happy reason to be going. I hope it's fun and memorable.
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots. It looks like an amazing place to explore. I love the shot of the double arches
ReplyDeleteI so love the red rock of Utah. I want to go back!
ReplyDeleteArches is definitely on my list of palces I want to visit when I move West, Betsy! The Parade of Elepants really did look like elephants marching on stlits.
ReplyDeleteHave a good trip to Georgia and a fun shower.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures. Don't we have a wonderful country so full of amazing sights. MB
I love the picture looking like a pair of trousers, think that is a typical photo from that area. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
Hugs,
Eva
Those rock formations are amazing and so pretty. What precious memories you made on that trip.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend with family
Blessings
Marilyn
I like the arches and the elephants too...I blogged with one of your old photos today...it is beautiful
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Utah, Betsy, so I enjoyed getting to see these pictures. I hope you have a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteI have never been to this area of the US, but it's definitely on my bucket list. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteSo many rocks with different formations. Very interesting! Nice seeing these:)
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful shots! We went to Arches before we had a digital camera and I would love to go back now and take new photos. It really is a stunning place.
ReplyDeleteHi there:) I love the rock formations and sometimes take them for granted here. But if they ever disappeared, I would miss them. When I go home to visit family, I'm always looking for them along the lakeshore....but alas none to be found that stand out like your pics:)
ReplyDeleteI'm doing the same thing in several days. Looking back. Sometimes writing about the experience a year later adds a bit of perspective and it's fun to revisit old trips:) Have a good weekend. Good luck on the waterfalls:)
Hi, Betsy! Thought I would surprise you today with a response to your blog-post. Thought of you and George this week as we spent four nights and three full days in Gatlinburg. Have a wonderful time in GA.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are all fantastic. I love reading about your trips and especially about your hiking.
You and George got some wonderful pictures from this most picturesque area. I've been to Arches twice...once maybe 30-35 years ago and again, just a few years ago, with Doug. Let me just say...I'm not sure there's ever a time when it's not as hot as blue blazes there. :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed that - I think I like the sky land arch and the sand dune ones the best. I had no idea this was out there - I have never been there to see the beauty! sandie
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots! They make me want to get on a plane and go back. We were there a few years ago and those amazing rock formations were incredible. Great post Betsy and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing these! It's been YEARS since we were there - lovely to reminisce! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. If I never get out of Georgia I can say I saw America through Betsy's lens! I love it. Hope you had a great time in Georgia at the shower. The weather was pretty nice here today. Not too very hot. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! Isn't that just the most magical place?
ReplyDeleteHave fun on another get away. I bet you are excited over the shower.
Those are some great photos! I visited there when my children were small. Your photos brought back lots of memories. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend and party! It's party time here, too - my husband's 70th and the family is gathering. Great photos of those rock formations, especially seeing the mountains in the distance with the snowy peaks.
ReplyDeleteMagic scenery, those arches, thats something we didn't get to see on our tour in 2011. It is amazing how hot it was there while there is snow on the mountains.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great weekend with your future daughter in law.
I love 'traveling' with you! These are incredible! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDelete"Better late than nevr!"
Knowing how you enjoyed Utah, I thought you might like some of the shots taken by father/daughter friends of ours who are on a 3 month western RV trip - this is the first one and the final one is 8/11. They took lots of shots during jeep trips in the Moab area - http://westwiththewhites.blogspot.com/2012/07/zion-national-park.html
ReplyDeleteA belated Happy "70th" Birthday to you!!!
ReplyDeleteBeen so busy with the wedding and everything I'm still trying to catch up with everyones blogs.
Hope your birthday was wonderful and have a great time in Georgia this weekend.
Funny Betsy and not one drop of water! LOL Thanks for sharing the photos though it is lovely there.
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, Have a good time with your future family in GA. I sure want to go to see the Arches there in the West some day. I have never been. Have a nice Sunday and good travels.
ReplyDeleteAmazing what you find Betsy, love the Sunflower header too.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, I enjoyed your trip to Arches. It is a beautiful place with all the colorful rocks and arches. The parade of elephants is a cool shot. Thanks for sharing your trip. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the amazing photos, Betsy! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou got some great photos of the arches and other rock formations, Betsy! I've been hot in Arches in mid-April. I think the ideal time might be November or March.
ReplyDeleteLove your sunflower header!
All these rock formations are amazing and I'm wondering how they formed. The elephants really stand out. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip to GA.
Utah always makes me smile. I remembered watching Donny and Marie Osmonds on Telly when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteThe photos raised my eyebrows so much as the arches are so unique with one looking like 2 sea lions kissing. America is such a blessed country with so many exotic places to visit for retired couples. My parents are bored to death sitting at home with nothing much to see here.
I love the sand dunes. I am planning to fly all the way to North of China just to admire the sand dunes in their deserts. You lucky having them close to home. The clouds in the photos are so clear and blue! Fantastic day! Thanks for sharing Betsy.
Time and weather have created an amazing treasure in 'them thar hills'.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the beauty, Betsy.
Be well and happy :)
That was a wonderful trip you both took last year - - - a trip of a lifetime for many. The pics are beautiful. I wouldn't want to live in that area because it's not my favorite scenery but I liked visiting it with you on the blog!
