I've talked quite a bit about how much we love our PANSIES... This is the only annual that we plant now --since we have so many perennials. (I used to plant Impatiens --but the rabbits kept eating it, so I gave up on that idea!)
We buy our Pansies in the late Fall --and plant them in the three round flowerbeds in our front yard ---and a few in other places around the yard. Unless we have a VERY VERY cold winter (which seldom happens here), the Pansies will make it through the winter---and will bloom until the heat of Summer kills them.
Today I'll share you some of this year's Pansies. All of these pictures were taken around June 8, 2012. Hope you enjoy seeing these little beauties... The picture above is of our Lamppost Flowerbed in the middle of our front yard. The Pansies are sharing space with all of our beautiful Lilies. In the other flowerbed featured below, the Pansies shared space with Daffodils... Be sure and click on the pictures to see enlargements.
Hope you enjoyed seeing some of the Pansies in our yard. I am sorry to report that they are all gone now since we have had some horribly hot weather the past couple of weeks. BUT--they are wonderful little plants to have around for about 8 months or more. AND---they do provide a little color to our yard in the drab winter months.
Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy
Horribly hot is right! I'm surprised anything survives.
ReplyDeleteEven if roses and lilies are beautiful, i wonder why i am smitten with pansies. The first time i saw it in person, that was in Sweden, it already stick in my mind! When i saw them again a few times later, always in a different colder country, the more it stick to my consciousness! Very expressive flowers!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, your pansies are pretty. I love all the different colors. Your garden is just amazing. Have a happy day.
ReplyDeleteBetsy - truast that you had a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour pansy photos are so pretty. Pansies do add that touch of colour to the garden and each individual flower seems to have a
different 'face' to greet us. Sorry yours have gone over in the heat. We only have some little purple violas at the moment that keep going each season and I love the colour and profusion of these little ones.
I am surprised to hear that pansies can survive in winter!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers make your garden so lovely until birds and butterflies come to visit too!
I love the little "faces" of pansies. They are such a cheerful and colorful flower. Great pictures, Betsy.
ReplyDeleteYou have better weather for those pansies, mine are long gone
ReplyDeleteI only tried pansies this year in hanging baskets in the spring. Too warm for them now. My first year here I discovered the deer love them. Decided I would not take up that battle and instead focus on protecting other favorites of mine like the day lilies and hostas.
ReplyDeletePansies was one of my father's favorite spring time flowers...Around here, it gets too hot for them to flourish.
ReplyDeleteI tried pansies once and loved them until the heat killed them. Of course I bought and planted them in the spring. Never thought of doing this in the fall, mainly because I do mums then.
ReplyDeletePansies remind me of happy faces! Very pretty.
ReplyDeletei did not know they come in so many colors, the only ones i have seen are purple and white. the first photo lookks like they all have little faces on them. so beautiful, love the yellow ones
ReplyDeleteWow, your pansies are doing great. Mine went to Pansy heaven long ago in the heat.
ReplyDeleteI do love their faces.
I think pansies are beautiful. They always remind me of a little baby's face. It looks like they are staring at you. :)
ReplyDeleteThey add so much color with their friendly little faces. Unfortunately up here I have never had any survive the winter, but they are nice to plant in early spring when other flowers couldn't survive.
ReplyDeleteI had pansies in pots on my front steps and they did incredibly good this year! Love having some color in winter :)
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy them. Pansies are so cheerful looking. I had a pot of them, but have now cut them back in hopes of them reblooming later in the summer or early fall.
ReplyDeleteI love pansies. Planted some this year, but the heat has taken it's toll on them. They are still blooming but don't look nearly as nice as yours. Hopefully they will recover. Yours are so very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThey are so colorful and bring such joy to look at!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved the little faces on pansies. And they come in so many different colors these days too! Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteBetsy,
ReplyDeleteI’ve always had affection for a nice Pansy. ;0) Your flowers are indeed very pretty. I want you to know you and George have inspired me to increase my collection of lilies. I just need to find the perfect spot for them now.
I love pansies, Betsy, and yours are so beautiful as are all of your flowers! How delightful to be surrounded by so much color and beauty! Wonderful way to begin any day! Hope your week is going well! Enjoy and stay cool! It's 47 degrees here this morning -- wish I could send you a little of our weather!

You see shots of the Holland tulips, but in Tennessee is a garden of many beauties. Truly lovely.
ReplyDeleteLittle Purple Pansies in the garden grow..etc. etc. One of my childhood songs. Always reminds me of Grandma Bright.
ReplyDeleteI have always been very fond of pansies, Betsy...they are the sweetest little flowers. I love Johnny-Jump-Up's, too, especially the way they re-seed themselves. Your pansies are beautiful--so many bright colors!

ReplyDeleteYour pansies are beautiful. I love how the sweet little faces look up atus while we walk by. They were mom's favorite and they are one of mine too.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the variety of colors that pansies come in, and what is more, I love the shape of the flowr...the way the petals come together. Don't quite know how to word it but you probably know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteI also love cheerful looking oansies, betsy! It has been so rainy and hot here that many of my flowers died :( It is the first year this has happened to me.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words and prayers for Colorado! I have not been able to sleep for two days as I am worrying so much that the fires don't reach the Denver area.
I love Pansies, and you both have a great showing.
ReplyDeleteI love pansies but have only had them a couple times. I rarely buy annuals. I did have some come back up one year which really surprised me. Unless of course it was just something that looked like a pansy. Yours are very pretty
ReplyDeleteThey are such pretty little flowers! It's hard to keep anything going in this extreme heat. It's supposed to be 105 degrees here tomorrow! Yikes!! My poor flowers!!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful little flowers and make your garden so colourful. I love their velvety texture and wish I could grow them but it is too hot in Brisbane.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers! I love pansies! They have so many different colors and all are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt is easy to see how much time you spend with your yard work. The results are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGeorgeous pansies, Betsy! I love the pictures! Visiting your site is always such an upper, totally makes my day!
ReplyDeleteI love Pansies ,I like to look at their little "faces".
ReplyDeleteI can't believe all the rain from these fronts that have moved across the country missed you all. We are getting dry fast again and with this heat coming for the week end we'll be parched I'm sure.
Blessings to you
Marilyn

ReplyDeleteThese are all beautiful. I love pansies and have note cards with them, but I have not had much success with them here. I enjoyed yours though.
ReplyDeleteThose are so pretty. I like pansies too but I just can't do annuals.....
ReplyDeleteMy mother always planted pansies. I think they are so beautiful. I have tried to plant them in our yard and have no luck. It gets too cold and snowy in the winter.
ReplyDeleteI think about pansies - it is so amazing they stay here all winter long - we have such nice winters and yet the hot weather they can't take.
ReplyDeleteYour pansies were gorgeous as the rest of your wonderful flowers.
