Enjoying the Beach!

Our BALCONY is up there above George's head.
Today I will share with you some of the things that George and I DID during our visit to Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina last week...

Sometimes we SAT on our BALCONY and just enjoyed watching the waves flow in and out.  The picture above shows our room. The room is almost in the middle of this picture. We are on the top floor (right above the Gazebo) on the left end of that building.   We also sat on the balcony and watched the boats  out in the ocean.  We sat out there in the evenings and watched the moon rise over the water.. Awesome!!!  (Be sure to enlarge all pictures for bigger views.)

We WALKED and WALKED on the beach!!!  Great Exercise also!
We took MANY walks on the beach ---off and on each and every day.  One reason we love this area this time of year is that there aren't too many people around.  The beach is almost OURS!!!

We PHOTOGRAPHED many things on and around the beach.
We both took many photos on the beach ---as you can imagine... I think we took about 1000 pictures together all during this trip!!!!! ha

She SAT in the SUN hoping for a good TAN!
One of us worked on our TAN.  (At least we didn't get sunburned this time!!!  Thank God for sun-block!)

We PLAYED in the WATER!!!
We even played in the water when we got hot!!!  I'll admit that we didn't get very wet ---but a little sea water goes a long way!!!!! ha

He READ!
One of us got alot of reading done this week---while the other person did something much more important.....  Guess what that was????

She SNOOZED!!!!!

She SLEPT!!!!!!  While George caught up on his reading,  I caught up on the zzzzzzzzz's.

We ATE SEAFOOD!!!
Finally,  another important reason for our beach trip was to visit some of our favorite seafood restaurants in the area.  Breakfast is served for us at the Islander Inn each morning.  We skip lunch --so that we can really enjoy a good dinner.    The picture above was taken on Sunday night (5/6).   We had a fabulous seafood dinner at TWIN LAKES RESTAURANT near Sunset Beach.

Hope you enjoyed seeing a few of the things we DID while at the beach.  Next week,  I will share with you some of the things we SAW while at the beach!!!!!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.  We hope to slow down a little!!!  We've been on the road again this week.  On Wednesday,  we drove to Georgia to visit my son and his bride-to-be.  Then yesterday,  we drove to Tullahoma to visit Dad Adams.  Both were great trips--but I'm ready to be quiet for a few days!!!!!   I'll see you on Monday!

Hugs,
Betsy

  7. Sounds like it was a great trip and relaxing. We are off to British Columbia in a few days. We'll be gone for 11. We fly into Seattle and have a rental car to tour the province from the Rockies to the seashore. Looking forward to that.

  8. The "off" season is my favorite time at the beach. I'll bet the sound of the ocean lulled you and George to sleep every night.

    Best,

  11. What a great vacation, Betsy. It looks like the two of you had a fabulous time. I wish we lived closer to the ocean. It's quite a distance from where we live.

  15. You so sound much like us except just opposite. I'm the one with the book (heaven forbid that I should take a nap, I might miss something!) and Bill's the one who get well acquainted with the insides of his eyelids!

  18. we would love to live in one of those houses year round, if we ever won the lottery and we don't buy tickets, a house like this right on a beach like this is where would live. and do the same things you did all day every day. but it would be me reading and bob sleeping.

  19. Beach walking is the best way to exercise and clear your head...then a good nap IS needed. :)
I love your chair with the built in ottoman; perfect!

  22. snoozing is good - as long as you used the sunblock. :)

  23. I'd have loved to be there too - but it wouldn't have been conducive to your rest!

You looked like you got some much needed rest and sun. I am glad you wear sunscreen.

Another wonderful trip of two wonderful people.

    Loved your pictures.

  25. Hi Betsy,

Great to see photos of you both having a great hol..a break from another of your favourite pastime..the waterfalls..hehe..

I'd be almost like you when I'm near any beaches..I don't like getting wet..even my feet..haha..I prefer reading or snoozing or both. :-)

Have a wonderful weekend and have a good rest.

  26. I am so 'pea-green' with envy. That vacation looked devine. Resting, reading, tanning. And, with your honey. Just the best ever.

  29. You are a real beauty on that beach chair! I love the picture of George kneeling to snap, showing his shadow. Do you ever look for sea glass?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I envy all the trips you and George take, not to mention the amazing photos! I'm afraid when hubby retires we won't be able to afford to leave the driveway!

  31. Hey--looks like the beach agrees with you. We did not go this year like we have been for the last several years. Thanks for a taste of salt water. How to you manage protecting your camera? I even ruined my little camera--with a very fine mist of sand.

  32. Oh, I loooove beach life!! It's almost a dream of mine to life AT the beach, however, my step-dad did, and he says the sea air is havoc on wood and paint and so there's lots of upkeep. So, I'd be happy to just have more trips to the beach and rent a place that someone else takes care of :-)

Snoozing, Seafood, Sun-soaking ...at the Sea. Makes great Sense!! You look like the water is a little cold, in that pic where it's covering your feet!

Ah, closing your eyes, lying in a beach chair, warmed by the sun. Glad you have such great times together. Thanks for inviting us along!

  33. I'm so glad you had such wonderful weather for your beach trip.
I look at these pics and can almost feel the gentle breezes and smell the salty air.
I'm just like you, I love an empty or near empty beach.
Hope you and George have a restful weekend! Our weather is supposed to be heavenly till the first of the week so I'm looking forward to a nice one myself!

  34. I never know where the two of you will pop up next. One day You two will be on the moon. LOL

Great post I love the beach. Who doesn't ???

  35. Hi Betsy, What a fun trip! I am so jealous! Was the water warm or cold? Where I used to live in Southern California the Pacific seldom got up to 70 and that was on a hot day! Usual water temps were about 63-65 degrees F. Brrr.
    Have a wonderful day!

  36. I am enjoying ever single minute of my trip with you guys...Great pictures, so much so, that I feel like I'm there.
Just can't beat the beach for a good get-away! I would probably have been snoozing and laying out in the sun..

  52. I love the beach too, nice to see George on his knee, getting down to the job.

  53. A well paced vacation--a lot of sitting still watching the world go by, just enough walking to deserve that seafood, and space for each to enjoy a favorite past-time whether it be reading or snoozing. This is a good time to get traveling done so you can stay home when the temps get unbearable and places are too crowded.

  54. Oh, man does this post ever make me homesick!

  55. Hello Betsy, I love the Ocean, and you both look like you had a great time.
We live 50klm from Tin Can Bay where you can go into the water and pat the dolphins and 90 klm from Rainbow Beach which is miles of untamed sand to drive along.
I lived with Ray in East Tennessee at Rogersville, about 120klm from Knoxville. Our church there was Crossroad Assembly of God. We attend the Wesleyan Methodist here in Oz. I worked in the local hospital after completing Boards.I didn't like it there so changed to Amedisys Home Health as a specialist nurse. I was my own boss more or less there and loved it.
