OH---Those Gorgeous AZALEAS

NOTE:  This post was done before our vacation --and is not pictures from this past week.  As you know,  we have season's passes to Biltmore --so we try to go there once every month or so.  These pictures were taken on 4/14/11 ---and when we went back on 5/7/11,  things were very different.

SO---here are some pictures from our trip (4/14/11) to the Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville, North Carolina.  IF you missed the first post from that trip,  click HERE.  As you can imagine,  I have many more Biltmore pictures to share --from several of our visits!!!!!

Today I am featuring JUST Azaleas--since they were so pretty when we were there... No words are needed to describe these beauties!!!  SO--just sit back and enjoy!

Above is an interesting picture of the entire Biltmore House and Gardens.  Since we have a Geo-tracker which tracks where we've been and where we take pictures,  we got this neat  picture of the entire estate.  You may need to click on it to make it larger --so that you can see the entire place.

We have marked where things are --so that you'll be able to see where we've been.  In the Winter,  we spent most of the time inside the Conservatory.   On 4/11,  we visited the Walled Garden (where we saw mostly Tulips) and we hiked down to see the Azaleas.. We also walked on down to the bass pond and the waterfall... SO---there will be more pictures to come!!!!

Have a wonderful day!!!!
Hugs,

NOTE:  Blogger had a huge problem and lost all of my comments on this blog.  I had about 30 comments --before it republished with NO comments..

  1. It sure would be nice to visit there one day... I'd love to take the tour of the house! =) The azaleas are gorgeous, of course! =)

  2. I don't know why it only shows a T for my name on the comment above... I didn't change it... I'm going to have to check into that!

  3. This reminds me of Wisley gardens in England. If you have a spare minute you could Google it and put it on your list of places to visit!! Then I could see it again through your pictures!!

Very, very lovely Betsy. No wonder you keep going back..

  4. simply gorgeous. mother had azaleas surrounding her house on three sides, most of them taller than me, 3 different colors. these bring back fond memories.

  7. I don't know what happened for sure, but it looks as though someone has gotten into my blog info & changed some things... I never displayed a T for my 1st name or a last name at all & my last name was entered on my profile... I changed my password, so hopefully that takes care of it. Why can't people just mind their own business? It's awful!

Sorry about all this, Betsy, but your blog was the 1st I'd noticed a lone T displayed for my name... strange! LoL! =)

  11. Hi Betsy, What beautiful colors in today's photos! John and I visited Biltmore on our honeymoon in Nov. many years ago - that place is pretty even in the winter! Enjoy your day.

  12. The azaleas are gorgeous! And not everyone is a master gardener and fortunately azaleas are hardy - we even have some in our yard - they haven't bloomed yet - a little late aren't they?

Love the beauty of the Biltmore.

  14. I've loved visiting the Biltmore a couple of times... need to do it again soon! And the azaleas... wow! These are garden moods that I try to emulate in our cold climate, but there is nothing like those southern gardens for exuberance of bloom! Larry

  21. Amazing shots. I love azaleas but have to be content with other peoples. I can grow most things but I have the kiss of death for azaleas.

  22. Patty and I have been there on at least two occasions. It is a beautiful estate and the drive in is so much better than the drive out.

  27. Wonderful photos, Betsy! Those azaleas are so pretty. I don't think those do very well up here.

  28. What gorgeous tours you take us on. I tried growing Azaleas once in our zone 3, and failed. The deer also seemed to snack on them. You can never trick a deer especially if you plant things in his domain, (which seems to be ev-er-y-where!)

  31. beautiful azaleas. That must be one fabulous place to visit.

  32. I know you mentioned this in your post today, but I was thinking about the one the other day when you showed the ones at your house. Was just visiting George's blog, and it dawned on me that last night when I finally sat down to visit blogs, that was when they were working on them so did not even visit since I couldn't comment.

Anyway, these are absolutely gorgeous, Betsy...so glad I came back to look.

Sarah and the toot just left for home a little bit ago. We did not go to the creeks today since they are all still really high around here. Hoping soon though.

  35. Thank you for sharing these colorful blooms from Biltmore. John and I were at Biltmore on our honeymoon long ago and it is a pretty place even in Nov.
I hope you will get to go again in Autumn!

  36. I didn't use to care so much for azaleas but they are growing on me again. I think the hot and humidity of Virginia where we lived had a lot to do with it.
    These are gorgeous!
I think I need to get to the Biltmore someday. :)

  37. Beautiful Betsy. I love the sound of your Geotracker. You and George are so tech-savvy! Brilliant. You cleared up a mystery for me. My sil sent me a text on my cell phone on Thursday (Grant and I were travelling away from home) and said she loved my blog about our smallest grands who turns one next week. Yesterday while we were still on the road, she asked why my blog post had disappeared. When I arrived home and logged on I saw it was back on my dashboard and no comments! Bless you for always visiting me. (((Hugs))) Jo x

  40. During the blogger mess, I was trying to get ready and leave for Cinci, so I gave up trying to communicate on it. I lost a chunk of my comments on my Motion post, but they were in my emails, so that helped.
Now I'm trying to catch up some.

    These azaleas are gorgeous, Betsy.
    Their beauty speaks for itself.

  41. The photos of these azaleas are amazing. They outshine the one I've posted of the azalea in our daughter's garden, although it's special because it was a gift to her and we've seen it flourish over a couple of years.
