As you probably know, unless you are new to my blog, George grows beautiful Hybrid Tea and Grandiflora Roses. He has about 50+ different bushes in our yard. ME? I just get to enjoy them. I have a bench in the front yard where I can sit and smell and view these beauties. George also brings a blossom or bud inside, most every single day during the season for me to enjoy. Wow--who could ask for a better life than I have?????
Here are my 2010 favorites beginning with my all-time favorite, DOUBLE DELIGHT. This photo was taken on 5/13/10.
This beauty is named JOHN F. KENNEDY. This picture was taken on 5/27/10.
This gorgeous rose is named GEMINI, and the picture was taken on 5/13/10.
I love this rose, named LOVE AND PEACE... This picture was taken on 5/15/10.
This gorgeous rose is named WILDFIRE... I love the colors in this beautiful rose, and I think its name is appropriate. This picture was taken on 7/3/10.
Here's another rose named after one of our Presidents. This one is named RONALD REAGAN. It was taken on 5/31/10.
I will share six more tomorrow. I love all kinds of flowers, but roses are definitely a favorite of mine.

Several of you requested the recipe for my Orange Balls... I usually double the recipe--since I have to share with family. Here 'tis!!!
Betsy's Orange Ball Recipe
(came from her mother)
3/4 cup conf. sugar
1 lb. vanilla wafers-crushed
1 stick margarine--softhened
1 cup (or less) chopped nuts
6 oz can frozen orange juice (thawed and undiluted)
1 can or package of shredded coconut
Mix first five ingredients together and form into balls---roll in coconut. Do not bake. Makes about 4 doz. depending upon size. I keep them in the refrigerator. They seem to get better as they age a little.
Hugs,
Good Day Betsy! All of your roses are pretty but I especially love the Ronald Regan rose. Larry/John photographed some at the Ronald Reagan Library last spring.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the recipe. Sounds delicious!
Have a great day.
Those roses are awesome.I love roses and these pictures should be in a gardening magazine.Wow!Yes, you are a very fortunate lady,to have a loving husband who brings you a rose a day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,Ruth
Wildfire is my favorite, I adore anything coral and I will try those orange balls. Nothing in them I don't like and I love anything with an orange flavor.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
What a cheerful post! Just what I needed on this snow-covered occasion.
ReplyDeleteThose roses are beautiful! I don't have much luck growning roses. Every year I give it another try, do everything that I think needs to be done, and by June/July the leaves have black spots and are dropping.
ReplyDeleteThose roses are absolutely gorgeous!! Makes me want spring even more. I think we're suppose to get some snow tonight. It's about due....it's been 2-3 days since it has snowed and that's a long time here. :)
ReplyDeleteThose roses are beautiful! I thought the top one was my favorite, but then I saw the rest. Oh, I bet they smell so nice!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos... unfortunately I've decided that roses are one place I can cut back on labor in our gardens. I had been doing shrub roses entirely, but they often need lots of cutting back in spring so I got rid of perhaps two dozen last fall, in some cases having to use a backhoe! I love the teas but just too much of a demand with all the other work here... again ... this is a beautiful post! Larry
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Roses! I know you get a thrill out of George bringing in a bouquet of those for you to have in the house!!!
ReplyDeletemy favorite is the love and peace, they are all beautiful, but that one is so pretty in pastels.
ReplyDeleteThose are absolutely gorgeous roses that George grows! And you obviously have "the life" with an attentive and caring husband that he brings a special flower into the house each day for you. What a delightful life for you two. Here, I confess, working in the flowers is not my favorite thing - but I do enjoy the results and take pictures of them and brag on "my gardener". ☻ All of your roses are choice ones!
ReplyDeleteIt is terribly hard to pick a favorite! They are all stunning roses! So wonderful that your sweetheart delights you with a daily rose for inside while enjoying his hobby outside! Best of both worlds! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteThis was better than lots of caffeine to wake me up...thanks for the beautiful eye candy!!!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, these are all so pretty, but my favorite is Love and Peace. Wow! It's so gorgeous. Thank you for the recipe. Sounds yummy! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous roses, Betsy! MY favorites are the first two. Beautiful colors. Thanks for sharing the recipe, sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful roses, Betsy!
ReplyDeleteYou do an amazing job with the pictures, and your husband does an amazing job with the roses! How sweet that he brings you a rose every day!♥
Thank you for the recipe. They sound delicious! :)
I'm coveting your roses! Bad Kathy!
ReplyDeleteEach and every rose is as beautiful as the next. I do like Wildfilre because I like the orangy color but they all are favorites.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe--Kylee is going to make it for the Wrestling staff. She is in Sports Medicine so she is staff. LOl MB
Lovely picks, I like the John F. Kennedy for best smelling. They are tough to keep around here, plus you need to have that touch. I have a friend who starts some from seed with his experiments.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Love that Wild Fire!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thanks for the Orange Ball recipe.
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful!! as always..
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, You and your husband have lovely roses! Thanks for sharing the beauty! I may modify your orange ball recipe to sweeten with sugar substitute and sugar-free wafers - still need to account for the juice but maybe I'll dilute and add splenda. I will let you know how this works if I actually try it. Have a really nice day and enjoy the blue skies.
ReplyDeleteI will not repeat what I always say? Thanks for the beauty posted here.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a rose person but Wildfire may just change my mind!
ReplyDeleteCathy @ Country Cathy

Oh, it's good to see these breath-taking roses in the middle of winter! It's impossible to pick just one favorite but I love the colors of the Love and Peace. All of them say, "Spring and summer are ahead!"

I truly love roses and dream of some day tending many varieties as George does. My father always planted a rose bush at every parsonage of his pastor's assignments, and he would have a single rose waiting for mother many mornings.
ReplyDeleteThese are incredible, Betsy. Tell George I'm quite impressed oohing and ahhing.
I think my favorite is the first one and the pink and yellow mix, but they are all incredible.
You can keep showing us more and more!
Your roses are all so perfect. George does a great job with them.
ReplyDeleteThe recipe looks great. Maybe I'll get ambitious and give it a try.
You lead off with the best of best I'd say. The first one is breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Orange Ball Recipe!
Beautiful roses, make me long for spring and blooming flowers.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed tomorrow
