Daylilies in our Yard Now

Our yard is ablaze with color these days (Roses, Lilies, Daylilies, etc.). Even with the extreme heat which we are having, the flowers are doing really well... Today, I will share some of our beautiful Daylilies. The picture above is a variety which are blooming next to our garage. Aren't they pretty? Below are some more individual ones.

As much as I do NOT like the Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team (since I'm a big Tennessee Vol fan)----I will admit that I do love the 'crimson' color of this Daylily. Its name appropriately is BAMA BOUND.

CUSTARD CANDY

BRIGHT SUNSET

FRED HAM (Don't you just love the texture in this Daylily?)

Finally, this beauty (don't you love the color) is named PRAIRIE BLUE EYES.

Hope you are enjoying the beauty around you too, wherever you are... It's still extremely HOT here --and it looks like this heat wave will continue all week.... Thank God for our Air Conditioned home!!!!

Hugs,

  1. I absolutely love daylilies Betsy. Your photos are beautiful this morning. It's hard to choose a favorite but the Bright Sunset is so colorful and I'm sure you and George have enjoyed many such sunsets there at your lovely home.

  2. Love your daylilies! I have lots of daylily plants moved from my mother's homeplace, but alas they do not like my shady yard, they come up every year with nice green leaves. Yours are so colorful!

  5. Always impressed that you know yours by name. My poor flowers are lucky if I get the species right.
Over 100 degrees here several days all ready with no improvement in the 7 day forecast.
How did we use live with out A/C? Every time I walk in from outside, I send up a quick "Thank you".

  6. My flower and veggie gardens are looking a little sad. This heat is terrible on them. I spend my time making sure the animals have cold fresh water to drink and not too much watering the gardens. But I can always come here and see your beautiful flowers!!

  8. Your lilies are lovely! Ours are still in tight bud. Nothing moving much in our garden.

I'm hoping you're making a slow but sure recovery. When do you see the surgeon again?

  10. Perhaps I will send some rain your way Betsy ~ we have plenty! Part of the TransCanada Highway has been washed away just West of us. Mother Nature has been showing us here strength! Luckily, no one has been physically hurt by the floods.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden with us friend!

  24. I've never seen such beautiful, vibrant-colored lilies! I think the Prairie Blue Eyes is my favorite, but it's hard to pick one! Your photography skills are superb!

  25. I had no idea those lilies came in such colors! The red one is so showy and love the name Custard Candy. I'm going to have to see if there are some like that at the garden shop. Beauty!

  26. I have some yellow ones in my front yard. Wish I had all of these other pretty colors you have.

  27. Look at the stamens in Bright Sunset, my word!! And Prairie Blue Eyes looks rather lavender, but still stunning. The stamens in these flowers fascinate me almost more than the petals. My favorite of these lilys may be the dark red one. But these pictures are amazing, this whole post is so wonderful just to keep scrolling and looking at! Tomorrow I'm posting flowers which have glitter sparkles from God.

  30. Your lilies are so pretty....I need to plant some, I love them.

The heat is unreal....My husband does heat and air conditioning and I don't see how he survives going in an attic or on a roof. I worry so about him....He definitely deserves every penny he makes and then some!!

  36. Just got Custard Candy last year at the Oakes Festival (have I told you it is this weekend?). I have Prairie Blue Eyes too. It is a real keeper. I also have a red one that is named Red Volunteer. Didn't know the volunteers were red though. :) Updated my list today and I now have 96 different varieties of daylilies. I am NOT going to the festival this year, afraid Jimmy might disown me.

  37. hello Betsy, i am new here just followed your comment from Linda's. Yes i love your thoughts and your header, very cheerful and positive, wisdomful. Your collections of lilies are so beautiful, i only have amaryllis (orange) in my garden. BTW, you already feel hot with that temperature of 26C, i wonder what will happen to you when you experience our 38C, which we experience just this year. If you will visit my last post you will say condolence to most of our plants, and they are only the trees, meaning the annuals all died. I can see you have lots of friends because of the #s of comments. Count me in, thanks.
