"Welcome"???? Visitors
A few mornings ago, three deer visited our back yard. It looked like a Mama and two juveniles. We watched them for awhile--and George took some pictures. It was barely light --so he was having trouble getting the pictures to come out. When the deer finally saw us, they decided to leave!!!! Luckily, they didn't 'munch' on any of our plants or flowers... Here are three pictures of them, plus one more!!!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Did you notice all of those leaves in our backyard in these pictures????? The leaves are coming down quicker than we can get them up now... Fall is almost over here in the Glade. SO---Friday, I got my trusty ole' leaf blower out and blew leaves out of the backyard and also part of the front.
BUT--guess what????? We had rains and high winds Friday night ----- SOOOOOOOOOOOOO???? The leaves are BACK!!!! I can barely see my progress. Oh Well---that's the 'breaks' for people like me who love big shade trees --and who live in the woods. I couldn't get back out there yesterday since everything was so wet---but I'll try again this coming week. Believe it or not, I enjoy raking and blowing leaves. The picture below is the "lefty" at work with her blower.....
See that orange cord????? Our blower is electric so we have a very long cord that I drag around all over the yard when I do my 'blowing'.... Anyhow---being a lefty can play havoc on cords.. I can make the biggest mess out of that extension cord one can ever imagine. My hubby just rolls his eyes in amazement. (Same thing with telephone cords--although our phones are mostly cordless now thank goodness.) I don't know what I do---but it takes forever straightening that cord out AFTER I've blown leaves. Oh Well----what can I say???? I'm just a LEFTY and proud of it!!!!! ha
Hugs,
P.S. My Tennessee Vols --all dressed in black and orange for Halloween, WON last night... They had many tricks in their bag --and gave us alot of treats!!! They won 31-13 over South Carolina!!!! Yeah Rah for 'my' young team!!
Hi, Betsy from TN. I love trees, I have a passion for trees. here in Florida we do not have the same color as you do, just different. I to like to rake leaves. I don't even mind mowing grass.
ReplyDeleteThose autumn leaves sure look beautiful when they are ON the trees but then comes the cool fall season and they FALL:)But then comes the new beauty of winter and I look forward to seeing that too.
ReplyDeleteI twist the cords too. I bet you worked up a sweat, Betsy
Hey, I would take winding up a long orange cord over a rake any day! But I got lucky with the winds yesterday - they blew my leaves to all the other neighbors yards! Unfortunately though they blew to one of our sweet ladies who just had surgery. So my boys {they will love me for this (lol)} but we will be raking her yard today! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
ReplyDeleteWas a perfect day to blow and rake, but I goofed around and now today it is raining and the leaves will remain on the lawns for alittle while longer.
ReplyDeleteOh, I so admire your love for leaf blowing/raking Betsy! You just go right ahead my dear... I'll have you come over here when you're done...lol!
ReplyDeleteLoved your sweet visitors.
ReplyDeleteSeeing you with the huge leaf problem makes me glad at least once a year that I don't have much in the way of shade trees. The main one I have discreetly drops its leaves slowly, so slowly that the wind usually does the trick.
Just think of Nature as being your fitness trainer in the fall.
I would just like to run through the leaves and kick them in the air and roll in them never mind raking them up. You look ready for business in that shot and I bet the gorgeous deer ran off when they saw you coming with a snuffleupagus or should I say a blowerawayagus.
ReplyDeleteBoy, your yard looks like mine..TOO many large Oak leaves...
ReplyDeleteRather Blustery Winds and drizzle last night for our 'Trick or Treaters' trudging through the Blown Leaves and Branches falling...
Your Sweet Visitors are Beautiful, unless they dine on a bit too many flowers!
Take care and 'Lefties' are GREAT...
Always~Marilyn
Leaves are falling like crazy here also.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the game last night also. They really looked good!
The leaves are all over the place here too and it has been raining. My husband is waiting for things to dry out so he can mulch the leaves.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, the new header is beautiful.I enjoyed the deer, thank goodness they left your plants alone. As for the leaves,I guess it's what we have to contend with if we want the shade in summer.Have fantastic day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,Ruth
I don't have a blower :( so today I will be on the busy end of a rake! It was windy here yesterday and leaves are ankle deep.
ReplyDeleteI love your dear deer pictures.
Have a lovely Sunday.
Sunny :)
Hey there, cute post! Please follow me over Google because I'm already following your blog. Return the favor. Thanks!

Looks like one of the deer is a small buck. good luck with the leaves - ours are all gone and on the garden. A lefty, ha?
ReplyDeleteLove your new header. The photos of your visitors are so perfect I feel as though I could reach out and pet one. (I'm sure that would not be a good idea.)
ReplyDeleteCan you bring that leaf blower over to the cabin?
I am so glad to be out of the forest of my old house - we had around 40 huge oak trees! Now I have 1 oak tree and 1 maple tree - makes those leaves much more manageable!!
ReplyDeleteGo VOLS!!
Good luck with your leaf blowing! My granddaughter is a lefty and it has caused some problems or adjustments. Isn't it exciting to get to photograph wild deer!!!!
ReplyDeleteBetsy: The first photo is neat, it was the close-ups in low light that you had trouble with.
ReplyDeleteThe deer are so cute...but I am glad they did not snack on your plants. I have no idea about living with fallen leaves...we only get a few palm fronds each week that fall. :)
ReplyDeleteThe world is made for rightys isn't it? Poor leftys. ;)
Betsy, I love the deer photos, especially the fawn. Good luck with the leaves. Eventually you'll get them all. HA! :D
ReplyDeleteYou look dangerous with that blower! :D :D :D Lovely deer family. Gorgeous leaves, and congrats to your Vols!
ReplyDeleteToo bad the wind didn't blow the leaves into your neighbor's yard! We do not have any grass, so we just let the leaves fall. We blow only the driveway and the deck but my husband loves it as much as you do.
ReplyDeleteWell, with your wonderful garden, I suppose deer would make you nervous, but I sure miss them. They were regulars (white-tails and mulies) at my old place, and I almost never see them here, and only when driving, no more home visits!
ReplyDeleteSome of my best memories are from raking up mountains of leaves to run and jump in. We don't get enough to do that here.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand about tangling up cords. No need to say more!
Deer are such beautiful and delicate animals.
ReplyDeleteHi, I just hopped over here from Sunny's blog. Your dear pictures ar so wonderful to see...I love to spot deer, they are beautiful animals. Yes, you have alot of leaves!
ReplyDeleteOh how sweet the first photo is of the deer! I have had one or two deer in the backyard and now that hunting season is here I am so worried for them, especially as my yard borders the woods...If you would like more leaves to blow you are more than welcome to come here. My husband doesn't mind raking leaves, all oak leaves. I too used to love to rake them up with my kids and let them jump in the piles.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, I love the deer with their sweet little faces. Those big orange cords can be a pain whether you're left or right......and they're so heavy.
ReplyDeleteThe deer are beautiful. I'm sure it's fun to watch them in your yard.
ReplyDeleteI'm a mess with cords, too!
Good luck with the leaf blowing.
Love your new harvest header.
LOVE your new header!! The deer are so beautiful! I would love to use a leaf blower too but maybe it would be just the novelty of a new toy! Good for you for tackling it!!
ReplyDeleteI just came in from picking up Kylee in Sedro-Woolley (about 30 miles up) and was looking at all the pretty leaves on the ground. So of course I have to take some pictures and thought to myself how just a few days ago we were admiring all the tree and great color and now they are all on the ground. Mine go to making mulch.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the day. MB
I am left handed also. I love the deer and I really like to walk through the leaves and hear them crunch!!...love you girl...m..
ReplyDeleteI'm glad for your win.
ReplyDeleteThe temperature is in the upper 80s here, Betsy.
Great invention those leaf blowers! :D May be good to use on the deet too if they try eating your flowers. ha
ReplyDeleteNice photos of the deer. They are so sweet. Before we moved to Maryland we lived on 6 acres on the Chattahoochee River; it was magical forest and we loved it until the leaves begin to fall. We know about those orange cords.
ReplyDeleteBetsy,
ReplyDeleteI hear your pain, girl! We spent all day raking and mulching wet leaves!! We so need some sunshine to dry things up..parts of my yard are so wet..yuck
..each evening the winds come..you know the rest!!
good luck!!

good luck!! Yea vols!!
I like the electric blowers ... not as much maintenance as the gas powered ones. And yes, it's a fun season, then all of a sudden you look up and the trees are completely bare. That's a winter-has-arrived moment.
ReplyDeleteWell sweetie, you just come on over and raked the leaves in my yard! lol Come by when you get a chance. I have a blog award for you! Have a lovely week!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Rebecca
Forgot to say...Way to go to our Tennessee Vols!
ReplyDelete...you do look to be a gardening warrior out there with your headband and heavy equipment! Our trees went bald over the past three days as well. It came and went so fast. Seems I was sick through the height of color. That's okay...there's always next year.
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks like ours !
ReplyDeleteNothing but leaves, I'm afraid.
We usually mulch them with the lawn mower, but it's been too wet, and so, like yours, they are piling up.
Love the deer ! They just act like they are not afraid, walking around the garden and anywhere else they see fit.
Have a wonderful week Betsy !
I love your deer friends! It seems like the deer have been hiding from me. That's a lot of leaves to blow! Greg & I did a little bit of raking but there was too much rain to finish. HOpe you had a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Shelley
Deer are fun to watch when they are in someone else's yard! They can really ruin landscaping quickly. But I love watching them at the park and other people's houses :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful deer! We just mow over our leaves and mulch them. I was so glad that it got dry enough over the weekend, to get some of them mulched finally.
ReplyDeleteOh Betsy, you look like you are ready for action with that leaf blower, and with all those leaves that's a good thing. No blower here but not quite that many leaves either.
ReplyDeleteI love you visitors, they are so sweet. I got some photos of a few this weekend too, we were on our way to the lake to get the boat out of the water for the winter. I will post them later this week.
Judy
My father-in-law was a leftie!
